Living or Not

When you don't know something,
You're pretty much among most,
And when it's about something you hold dear,
You've met the most unsung ghost,

That fills your life with the most meaning,
Grounded in the extreme despair,
That what you love might actually not,
Even be there.

But that is just what life teaches you,
If you refuse to follow the path,
Recommended by 9 out of 10 humans,
Who would prefer a good laugh.

And it's alright,
Just don't get all caught up in deceit,
It's really about knowing what you know,
Which wouldn't satisfy a parakeet.

Getting Through 2

It's never cut and dry,
It's never what it seems to be,
And when you think you have a handle on it,
That's just when it gets free,

That's just when confidence is at the lowest.
Yes, your mind is opening up,
To reveal to everyone who sees you,
How empty is your cup.

But if you forget all the stakes at hand,
And acknowledge that they're only contrived,
It can get you through until you have to take,
Things seriously in order to survive.

And it's alright,
This cycle will never end,
So don't be afraid of losing that great feeling,
Of being completely impotent.

Success

Now you just have to coast it,
All the work is done,
At some point you just have to let go,
At least for a second,

Until that wave is waning again,
And its momentum can't carry you,
And you have a minute to reflect on the ride,
Until it's once again time to do.

And hopefully you will have learned something,
From your experiences so far.
Somethings by now should be second nature,
And first nature should never enter this far.

And it's alright,
If you don't want to improve.
Life's not a game, and whether you succeed or not,
Is not a matter of win or lose.

Doing What You Should

There are many things that one gets,
From another person,
And that does not mean the other owes anything more,
Than that contribution,

It does not mean that your life belongs to,
Any one person's claim,
On a skill you provide for a task or tasks,
Because you and they are not the same,

And if you realize what it is that you do,
That really defines your soul,
And have the means to dedicate yourself to it,
No one has the right to call you home.

And it's alright,
To feel torn about loyalties,
That must means you have a conscience,
Which will be helpful for your true activities.

Letting Go

Everything has an end,
Unless you keep it alive,
In your mind,
Until the day you die,

And as those things compile inside,
Pushing to find their way out,
Grappling with each other,
And fracasing about,

It becomes clear the need to let go,
As so many have said in the past,
And if that means destroying who you are,
It's worth it if it means that you will last,

To be alright,
To live to fight another day,
To look yourself in the mirror,
And say it's going to be okay.

Reallignment

Remember where you came from,
And how you got where you are,
And remember when it was that you felt,
The most natural,

And those moments when you saw something else,
And thought, "that is the thing for me",
Because that was not just you talking to no one,
But something trying to tell you something.

And though it seems that society,
Leads you down a path you cannot escape,
You're either alone, or with people who love you,
And neither would begrudge you a piece of the cake.

And it's alright,
Sometimes things seem really rough,
Like when the world seems to be crumbling.
That's just a chance to say enough is enough.

Desire

If you know where you're going,
And you still feel unsettled,
Despite the fact that you chose the route,
And considered the risk real little,

And are waking up with fear in your stomach,
And a desire to stay in bed,
Knowing that you can't just escape the world,
Thinking you would be better off dead,

Then, if you have the time, it might be best,
To reassess the choices you have made,
And realign yourself with your true desires,
Before your true desires quietly fade.

And it's alright,
If there's a risk in that,
There's also a risk that what you're doing now,
Is killing you quickly, isn't it?

Momentum

What's the value of momentum,
And the effects that it has,
On the thing that is possible,
That never was?

As it snowballs so does it grow,
And bowls over all it sees,
Grabbing people along the way,
If only because they want to be,

Part of the greater group they're not part of,
Because there is strength in numbers,
And everyone just wants to be strong,
Because society just wants to smother.

And it's alright,
As long as the snowball is one of good,
Which means it intends to unify,
Rather than get all that it could.

Undermining

One thing to make absolutely sure,
Is that the environment,
You find yourself in is the ideal one,
For self-improvement.

If it leaves you feeling incomplete,
Or not up to the task,
You can be sure it's undermining your potential,
And there's no need to ask,

Those in charge of maintaining your house.
Feelings can never be wrong.
They may be the result of misinterpretation,
But their reality remains true all along.

And it's alright,
As long as you don't let it sit,
Too long before you do something,
To at least acknowledge it.

What To Do

How to know your calling,
Is the biggest question there is,
Because it requires knowing yourself,
And all of your choices,

And being able to erase yourself,
To see what naturally fills your space,
While not worrying about survival,
Because that's what separates the human race,

From the beasts, oh wait is that for sure,
Because it seems they already have it right,
Except for when they're interfered in by us,
And feel the need to question their own plight.

Oh, and it's alright,
If what you decide is that you don't know.
Just throw yourself into admirable causes,
In case it's the selfish ones that're ultimately your show.

Daggers

You can't escape the daggers,
If you pretend like you don't care,
Or rather, if you truly don't,
Because you're just laying yourself bare.

It is hard but you need some kind of perspective,
That is consistent and outward-looking.
It doesn't matter if it's right at first,
Because you will eventually calibrate,

To what is happening around usually,
And where the hints are of a coming coup.
And these hints are all you'll ever have,
To help protect you.

And it's alright,
If you never want to do something great,
You're basically not living anyway,
So let those daggers penetrate.

Ignoring

You can feel it closer,
If you let it in your mind,
And take responsibility for how,
It evolves in time.

In time it may just reconcile itself,
To a whimper in the back of your mind,
Which means it's real, but you're ignoring it,
And ignoring what it may be in time.

And if you think that it will work itself out,
You're ignoring the process of your mind,
Which never let's a think go unconsciously,
Because it doesn't know what it'll need in time.

And it's alright,
If you just forget your mind,
That will work for just about everything,
But, be aware, it won't work every time.
