Moving On

It's really quite amazing,
When you stop to think about it,
How everything coordinates,
Not to be confounded,

Like the wind through the trees,
Both being abated and helping out,
Spreading seeds and moving water,
Each molecule, on its own route,

And destination,
For they're all doing their own thing,
Because to make any move at all,
You need something,

Telling you, you'll be alright,
If you just do that,
And we are all given our own,
Motivational talk.

The Child

If you protect something too much,
To keep prying eyes from it,
To protect its virginity,
You just may smother it.

But there is a risk in letting it breathe,
The same air in which you navigate,
The air of hurricanes and backed up sewers,
Jealousy and hate.

So, who do you share this child with,
Filled with the potential of all you are?
Just like we are bad at predicting the weather,
You need your instincts to be your bar.

And you'll know the babe will be all right,
And here's something you didn't think about,
When you let this one see the light of day,
There may be another ready to come out.

How To Be Yourself

When you want something so badly,
You are sure to fuck it up,
Because you try to be something,
You, simply, are not,

Because in this world the possibilities,
Of what you can be are infinite,
And when something is at stake,
It doesn't seem enough, does it?

But there is one combination,
Of all of your potential,
If happily hit,
Will deliver all that's possible,

And that's just you, alright?
I'm not being gushy.
It's hard to be natural,
And Mother Nature is fussy.

Your Mind's Influence

It doesn't matter what you think,
About the causes of those things,
In your life that are both good and bad,
For that doesn't change anything.

You know when you think a certain way,
You attract forces to you,
Either through some spiritual magnetism,
Or the influence of a slew,

Of people around you,
For attitude translates,
Into a change of mood in others.
What you think's what you create.

So it's alright,
Go ahead and forsake god,
He doesn't demand how you should act,
He only controls a lot.

Gaining Success Through Charisma

The busier you make yourself,
The more lives you touch,
As long as what you're doing is reaching out,
And not in, too much.

Things happening is something that,
Requires collaboration,
With others that want to do the same thing,
For their own intentions,

And that's the best you can hope for,
Because no one is selfless,
Except in-so-far as,
Helping helps themselves.

So, to be alright,
That's if you want success,
Go out into the world,
And practice connectiveness.

How To Undress

How do you take your clothes off,
Do you think of what comes first,
And do you turn just so,
So as not to show your curse?

Do you wish you had worn something else,
Beneath your denim jeans?
And as you do this, are you really,
As sexy as you seem?

Will you be the same person,
Once everything is off,
Or will you be more truly you,
Or not as soft?

Will it be alright,
If I say something untoward,
Or will you put it all back on,
If I say one more word?

What Do You See?

If you're looking on the horizon,
What do you see?
Is your mind filled with thoughts of its beauty,
Or possibilities?

Both views hold potential,
For the education of humankind,
Through verse or exploration,
Still, yet, undefined,

Like the source of the colors,
Whether refraction or God,
You will have ears to listen,
If truth is your guide.

But you won't be alright,
If you wish to touch others,
And leave it all inside,
Because you don't see what you offer.

The Next Stage

Sometimes you have to wonder,
What is out there for you,
When all you have is what you have,
With nothing to do,

With nothing that saves you from the precipice,
Of going just a little too far,
And sticking out your neck a little too much,
So that people see who you are,

And offer you the ability,
To change everything around you,
Again and again and again, again,
Until there is nothing new,

Only alright,
Because consistency breeds ennui,
And nothing bores you more than constant change,
And uncertainty.

What Will You Be?

What will you be?
Will you figure it out?
Will you rebel against what your mind tells you,
Just to snuggle with doubt?

Just to have something to blame,
For your lack of happiness,
Other than yourself,
You'll name society's mess.

You'll call your parents wrong and drink a lot,
And fool yourself,
Into thinking you're as happy as can be,
Given you've had no help.

It's alright,
We can't all succeed,
And be happy, or else,
There'd be nothing anyone needs.

The Right Work

When you are asked to do,
More than you can,
With no avenue for an excuse,
When you fail again,

And you don't believe there is someone else,
Who would be able to achieve,
All that's asked, but, of course, that doesn't matter,
'Cause completions not what they need.

They need the burden available,
Until there's someone they like to play with,
Then all those tasks will suddenly melt away,
And congeal again onto someone else.
Alright, enough,
There's got to be something else,
That doesn't make you feel like you're inferior,
Or make you want to redefine yourself.

You Can Change the World

Think of all of the things,
Happening outside of what,
You are doing in the world you live.
It's outside, but,

It still affects the way you live,
Because some people need others to conform,
To a certain way of living for,
Their own world to be born,

And if you just let things,
Continue on this way,
You will never know what it is,
To live, like you would play,

Because, it's alright,
To follow your instincts,
And believe the world should be,
How you naturally think.

The Doldrums

It's so very easy,
To let oneself degrade,
Into a slump of self-criticism,
Until you just fade,

Into the background, watching others,
Do the things you'd rather not do,
Anyway, because it's because of those tasks,
That you,

Are where's you're at now, and all the choices,
Seem to be just two,
Resign yourself to what you must do now,
Or search for something new,

Which would be alright,
Except, in order to do so,
You need some semblance of self-confidence,
For that get-up-and-go.

How To Get Ahead

No matter the world's thoughts,
About what you've done,
They will be as different from yours,
As everyone,

Else's thoughts, also,
Because no two people,
See things the same,
Yet, there's a need to,

Know them all, and that means,
To know everything,
Which is less a matter of knowledge,
And more of posturing.

And that's alright,
Everyone knows the truth,
And are only looking for the one,
Who will speak it anew.

The Effects Of No Confidence

The thing about confidence,
Is it has nothing to do,
With who you are or what it is,
You can actually do,

But there's a switch somewhere in your brain,
That is only off or on,
Which, when engaged creates a perfectly,
Engaging person,

That others believe in, simply because,
Their own switch is on 'off',
And they feed from the nutrients you exude,
Eradicating their impending sobs.

And it's alright,
If you don't know where to find the switch,
As long as it is already on.
Otherwise, you're kind of undistinguished.

The Fragility of Ego

You'll never be able to,
Understand it all.
Who is for you, and what they really think,
Of you, overall.

All you can do, is know yourself,
And understand every move you make,
So you can answer with authority,
When someone asks you to explain,

How you can justify your actions,
Within their understanding,
Which is only arrived at through honest,
And unforgiving living.

But you're not alright,
Until you've found peace with yourself.
And you don't care about the ways,
Of anyone else.

Danger All Around

You don't have a safety net,
Not matter what you do,
Or, if you do, it must be,
All around you,

Tight against your skin, stopping you,
From moving into any harm's way,
And coated with a material so thick,
It keeps all harm at bay,

Because there is no way to know which way you'll fall,
Or what might fall on you,
When life is so uncertain,
As is everything that you do.

But it's alright,
Everyone is in the same boat,
And, really, the only way to be safe,
Is to just take a leap of hope.

You're Alone

In some ways you can't avoid,
Being either duped or the duper,
In on the joke or the butt of it,
Lacking confidence or being too sure.

And each position has its friends,
And its enemies, to be sure.
But which side you prefer to be on,
You only realize once you've matured.

And once the realization has been made,
You're either anxious or relieved,
Ready to make the most of it,
Or simply peeved,

That you're alright,
That you fall on a side,
Because everyone loves to be loved by everyone,
And life simply won't abide.

Schedule By Attitude

There are seven ways to be,
And you can be one each day,
Until you reach the point of being able,
To immediately choose a way,

To be in any given moment, given,
What the circumstances demand,
Intuitively, not by choice.
That is the ultimate circumstance,

To allow you to observe your world,
As you experience it, like never before.
Go on the most effective auto-pilot,
And be uncertain no more,

Unless you want to be, alright?
This is the gift of being alive.
No state of being is denied your heart,
And no thought is denied your mind.

How To Do What You Want

Of all the things you want to do,
There are only a few that you can.
And of the things that you can do,
There's only a few you can ram,

Into your life, so you better choose wisely,
And choose the ones you really want.
And of the things that you want to do,
There are some you just can't,

Because you won't be able to do the one,
Simultaneously with the other.
And of the things you want to do that you can,
Good luck having the courage to bother.

'Cause it's alright,
Having great ideas.
But to put them into reality,
Requires big cojones.

In The Face of Adversity

It's not what you get,
But what you get for it,
And what it tells you about yourself,
And whether you're legitimate.

And by legitimate, let's understand,
That before someone can make a claim,
To being successful in this life,
His heart must feel the same,

In his highest time as in his lowest,
Because success is not power,
Instead it's about knowing what you're doing,
In the face of your darkest hour.

And it's alright,
If you are not that strong,
No one really is, which brings us back to Hume:
It's not why, but what it is that you've done.
