Death Bed Regrets

It is never too late,
I've seen it so many times,
People who seem so old,
Completely changing their life,

At least, in the eyes of others,
For, five thousand times out of five thousand and one,
Those people knew who they were in their heart,
And were waiting for their life to catch on.

And what are the regrets of those,
Who on their death bed realize,
That they would have lived differently,
If they were then, as wise?

That it would have been alright,
If they followed their dreams,
Despite the risk, despite the fear,
Despite how the world seems.

Grieving's 7 Steps

Yes, it is quite shocking,
To learn that life, 'til now, has been a waste,
Which leads to pain, and a guilt about,
How you may have acted in haste,

But guard against lashing out,
In your anger at what you've become,
Just lick your wounds, and start to reflect,
In sad isolation,

Only then, can you start to see,
The only way to go is up,
You then can see who are your true loved ones,
And begin to create your own luck,

Then it will be alright,
The world you'll live in will be new,
With opportunities, not available,
In the one you started too soon.

The Joy You Seek

You know you are doing something,
That you were meant to do,
When the world rearranges itself,
To put closer to you,

The people and tools that you need,
To do it very well,
And figure out new ways,
Of being more industrial.

And then people wonder why we do anything,
If not for the carrot of money.
We're disconnected from true motivation,
Which is rooted in creativity.

And it's alright,
If it takes a while to find,
Just the belief that it is somewhere,
Could just yet save humankind.

How To Make It

Here's a way to do it:
Pretend that you're not,
Then when people wonder where you came from,
It all just seems like luck,

Like you didn't think long and hard,
About what you wanted to say,
As if it just all pours out of your mouth.
You better be ready for future days.

As if when you get out of bed,
It's a party day and night,
Which, eventually, it could be,
Once retirement's in sight.

And it's all right,
What people say,
Thinking about something, does make it happen,
With some sweat, by the way.

Get There

Be honest with others,
At the moment you think,
Of something that could be a problem,
Or you'll find yourself on the brink,

Of a situation so entrenched,
You can only have a war.
It's so hard digging through the bullshit,
You wonder what a shovel's for.

But ultimately it's about your life,
And making sure your time's well-spent.
It's amazing how often we need reminding,
That the time's gone once it's went.

Oh, it's alright,
Just close your eyes and think,
What else you'd rather do right now.
more than anything.

What Will You Be?

What will you be?
Will you figure it out?
Will you rebel against what your mind tells you,
Just to snuggle with doubt?

Just to have something to blame,
For your lack of happiness,
Other than yourself,
You'll name society's mess.

You'll call your parents wrong and drink a lot,
And fool yourself,
Into thinking you're as happy as can be,
Given you've had no help.

It's alright,
We can't all succeed,
And be happy, or else,
There'd be nothing anyone needs.

Run From Success

The farther you get down,
A road you shouldn't traverse,
Because every part of your body,
Screams, 'things are getting worse!',

Don't abandon your route,
Because those voices could be wrong,
Scared by the possibility,
That all along,

You're on your way to doing,
What you do best,
A task with a lot of responsibility,
And you don't want, lest,
You lose it, alright?
Yes, that's our greatest fear:
Not that we don't get what we want,
But that what we want's too near.

The Right Work

When you are asked to do,
More than you can,
With no avenue for an excuse,
When you fail again,

And you don't believe there is someone else,
Who would be able to achieve,
All that's asked, but, of course, that doesn't matter,
'Cause completions not what they need.

They need the burden available,
Until there's someone they like to play with,
Then all those tasks will suddenly melt away,
And congeal again onto someone else.
Alright, enough,
There's got to be something else,
That doesn't make you feel like you're inferior,
Or make you want to redefine yourself.

Things Can Change

There has to be a reason,
When you know you're in the wrong place,
Even if it seems there's no way out,
Because you're a rat in a race,

But with time anything can change,
But you also have to plan,
Your escape so you're not one hundred years old,
When you finally can,

Do the things you always wanted to,
But could never articulate,
Surely it's not that hard to figure out,
What makes your heart ache.

And it's alright,
If you'd rather dream,
And admire those who made it work.
It's a lot harder than it seems.

Who To Blame For Your Oppression

If you find you're doing something,
That you find most enjoyable,
But it is not your main source of income,
That's deplorable,

For, really, what is the lament we have,
In a democratic capitalism,
But that our days are spent doing something,
That causes an internal schism,

And makes us feel that we are prisoners,
Of the system in which we were born?
Yet, strip yourself of all outward constraints,
And you would probably be as forlorn,

Because, it's alright,
That there are examples of better systems,
But, within each there're also people who beat them,
And live lives of satisfaction.

Society Doesn't Demand Blood

There are the things you can remember,
As a child that you did,
That made you happy, but today don't seem,
Completely valid,

For how could something that makes you feel so good,
Actually be good for your life?
Surely, most of your time must be filled with tasks,
And duties defined by strife,

For there are countless others in the world,
Who are just like that,
And nothing but priviledge could yield any more,
And that is just bad.

But, alright,
Just imagine what if,
Everyone suddenly did what they want.
Couldn't that be bliss?

As I Sit Here

With all the expectations,
One builds up in others,
Of what is possible within one's life,
Which that life doesn't cover,

And without the benefit of having lived,
A life before this one,
It's impossible to gauge what you can do,
Without true self-evaluation,

And a knowledge of what it is,
That you like to do,
Which makes whatever you do easier,
And true.

Though, it's alright,
You have a lifetime to figure it out,
And many lives within that life,
That we can talk about.

To Start Again

Things are always better,
Depending how you look at them,
And then they're always worse to infinity,
When we're together again,

And taking you to take the best of things,
And color them with your deathly stare,
Remains the most memorable day of my life,
'Cause it's the day I started to care,

And to take my desires more seriously,
Because, really, you only live once,
Even if you are reincarnated,
Each existence is monumentous.

So, it's alright,
If you get upset,
It's better than a life of unfulfillment,
And regret.

Find Out What You Do

When the end is near,
And you don't want it to come,
It's time to look ahead a little more,
To the next evolution,

Of yourself, when you've remembered,
what it is you loved,
About the times when you were happy,
And never had enough.

Now, remember also,
That when you are born,
Nothing except society,
Expects more,

Than that you're alright,
Which is all you can ask of yourself,
And discard of all those tasks,
That affect your mental health.

You're F'd If You're Not Born Knowing What You Want

There are always chances to do,
What you want to do,
The opportunities are infinite,
Though they don't seem so to you,

And each one requires,
Some kind of sacrifice.
You probably know all your choices,
But are too damn nice,

To alienate those you love,
Because that's what the hardest choices take,
Because by the time you know what you want,
Many more choices are made,

Which is alright,
If you've no investment in them,
But if they grew love in you,
It's a conundrum.

You Can Get What You Want, Maybe

You can live a whole life,
Just looking in from the outside,
Wondering how you got there and just how to,
Turn the tide,

And you will never do anything,
Until you jump right in,
No matter the height or the depth of the sea,
Because it's all in your imagination,

And your power to make things what you want,
At least in your mind.
You may have the strength and luck, too,
To really change the time,

And make it alright,
To look at yourself again,
Not from the outside, but in a mirror,
Because you're in the right occupation.

How Selfish Can You Be?

I suppose any day,
Could be your last,
Whether because you leave this world for good,
Or the current world just becomes past,

Because you've changed, or those around you have,
Or because you've done something,
To change the way your world looks at you,
Whether increasing or mitigating,

Their respect. Ultimately what matters,
Is what is your perspective on life?
Do you believe in the hurt of others,
Or is it just about getting you right?

Because, the latter's alright,
But it makes a very big leap of faith,
That these worlds are just chances to,
Get a glimpse of your own face.

Legacy

You may be irrelevant,
Though, no more than anyone else,
At least in the overall realm of reality,
And the true nature of the self,

But within the context of the personal,
And the reality we all create,
As a society to nurture each other,
Some are more and some are less great,

And some are just born out of their time,
Some too early and some too late,
And some are meant for a reality,
That humans could never make.

So it's alright,
When in your darkest hours you contemplate,
How your greatest works are valueless.
That is simply some of our fate.

Stop to Consider

When you're thinking of what could have been,
Make sure to include,
All those possibilities that would have destroyed you,
Along with the good,

Things that could have happened should you have followed,
Some other path,
Because you never know what leads to disaster.
Then be happy where you are at.

And when you're stifled by a particularly,
Difficult decision,
Ponder the fact that if you had crossed the road any sooner,
You might have been in a collision.

And it's alright,
If this seems a cop-out for running your life.
Go ahead and be obsessed with what-ifs,
And see if you're left with anymore might.

Try Embracing

The temptation to let it all go,
And start from a clean slate,
Is only tempered by the acknowledgement,
That it is not an easier way,

And that temptation, in the first place,
Is certainly laziness to the extreme,
So why you think you'd work harder from the beginning,
Is a mystery to me.

But there's something to be said for,
Not carrying the baggage that you accumulate,
Your first stab at life and how you want to live.
To start again is to escape fate.

But it's alright,
To take another tack.
How about simply doing what you want,
And simply don't look back?
