The Infinite Cage

Why don't you think outside the box,
When you think about how far you've come,
And all the paths you've passed up,
And subsequent delusion,

About the options you have?
You have no less than anyone,
Who has taken chances in their life,
And tackled their vocation.

And all those ties that bind,
And responsibilities that restrict,
Your desire for a new life,
May be just the kick,

In the pants, (alright?)
That you need to decide,
That no cage is so small,
That you can't explore the inside.

Why Do It?

Why do you do it,
Amidst all those people,
doing the same thing,
With so much to see to,

That they don't have time to care,
About anyone else,
Just like you have no time, too,
But yourself.

Is it because you hope,
That they will all finally see,
That what you've done's unique,
Which, in this world, is key,

And what makes you alright,
In everyone's eyes,
'Cause it shows you may know something,
Beyond out skies.

To Mistake is People

You can never truly appreciate,
The importance of a task,
If you have not also failed in it,
Which begs you to ask,

'How can anything get done,
perfectly,
If, to do anything well,
It must first be done insufficiently?'

So, first you must let go of,
The desire for the ideal,
If the world were ever to run without a flaw,
There would be no people.

So, it's alright,
Go ahead and make a mistake,
You'll only be a better person for it.
And, really, how much effort does that take?

Gaining Success Through Charisma

The busier you make yourself,
The more lives you touch,
As long as what you're doing is reaching out,
And not in, too much.

Things happening is something that,
Requires collaboration,
With others that want to do the same thing,
For their own intentions,

And that's the best you can hope for,
Because no one is selfless,
Except in-so-far as,
Helping helps themselves.

So, to be alright,
That's if you want success,
Go out into the world,
And practice connectiveness.

Why We Supress Ourselves

Sometimes imagining another life,
Better than your own,
In which you're doing what brings you joy,
With nothing that you owe,

With nothing but encouragement,
For everything that you do,
And accolades and peace and love all around,
Flowing into you,

Can be enough to get you through the day,
And society's banking on that,
For there's no room for everyone to succeed,
And still suppress humanity's nack,

To be alright,
Nay, to be supberb,
And build towers right up to heaven.
Though, why it thinks that way, I am not sure.

The Over Producers

Some people seem to get quite a lot,
Done within their life,
Which, in turn, makes the ambitious feel,
Not very nice,

Until you reflect upon some of the factors,
Allowing them the capability,
Often times beginning with privilege,
And a selfish mentality,

And then, once you are in a position,
That others see you as a producer,
You have a network of people to help you,
And grow into a network.

And you have the right,
To do all of these things, too,
And once you get the momentum,
In a short time, there's a lot that you can do.

The Doldrums

It's so very easy,
To let oneself degrade,
Into a slump of self-criticism,
Until you just fade,

Into the background, watching others,
Do the things you'd rather not do,
Anyway, because it's because of those tasks,
That you,

Are where's you're at now, and all the choices,
Seem to be just two,
Resign yourself to what you must do now,
Or search for something new,

Which would be alright,
Except, in order to do so,
You need some semblance of self-confidence,
For that get-up-and-go.

The Risk of Going for Gold

Resilience is the thing,
That is hardest to hold on to,
Because its reward is always around the corner,
But never in front of you,

And yet the lesson learned when it finally comes,
Is perhaps the greatest reward of all,
Much greater than the immediate,
Pleasure that's financial,

Much greater than what you can realize,
Realizing what you have to do,
To get everything you ever wanted,
'Cause you won't do it, will you?

And that's alright,
Because it would require resilience,
And you could spend your whole life working it,
And never get the benefits.

When You'll Be Successful

When do opportunities come?
When you least expect them,
Just when you've started to enjoy what you're doing,
That's exactly when,

You forget about your dissatisfaction,
And when your universe transforms,
And those around you start talking to others,
About how you're above the norm,

And then it is no coincidence,
That the offers start rolling in,
For now you're seen as a positive force,
And a multi-disciplinarian.

and it's alright,
That you will hit lows again,
That's only when you stop and look around,
And change direction.

The Three Constraints

Time, if you don't have it,
Doesn't leave a lot,
For you to think about,
And you better find it, if not,

Then the Quality of your live will suffer,
Not that other factors don't come into it,
But, if you don't want to waste this life,
Remember this little bit,

And Money is not the least of things,
And not the most important,
But a necessity for survival,
Whether legal tender or equipment.

So, be alright,
And balance these three things,
Presented to you in order of importance,
For successful living.

Society Doesn't Demand Blood

There are the things you can remember,
As a child that you did,
That made you happy, but today don't seem,
Completely valid,

For how could something that makes you feel so good,
Actually be good for your life?
Surely, most of your time must be filled with tasks,
And duties defined by strife,

For there are countless others in the world,
Who are just like that,
And nothing but priviledge could yield any more,
And that is just bad.

But, alright,
Just imagine what if,
Everyone suddenly did what they want.
Couldn't that be bliss?

Everyone IS Good

It really is much better,
To think the best,
Of everyone you meet, even if it means,
You get pounded in the chest,

And kicked in the balls because the alternative,
Is to think the worst,
And alienate those who actually are not,
And deny yourself a fatter purse,

Obtained, not by carousing with the cheats,
But the few who find incredible strength,
With the knowledge that no matter where one might look,
Finding skeletons, you just ain't.

And it's alright,
To be sinful sometimes,
As long as you are open about it,
And it's not a hurtful crime.

The Secret To Enjoying Life

Life offers many opportunities,
To enjoy it,
Though they are all in the moment,
And need to end to appreciate,

What it was that it gave to you,
And that appreciation also often means,
Depression sets in because you've lost it,
And have to search for new beginnings.

And you often also realize,
That those moments of enjoyment,
Were not perfect and some things have to change,
Which is a predicament,

Because you're not alright,
The dragon will never be caught,
And life will continue, and you will get old,
Whether you like it or not.

You Can Get What You Want, Maybe

You can live a whole life,
Just looking in from the outside,
Wondering how you got there and just how to,
Turn the tide,

And you will never do anything,
Until you jump right in,
No matter the height or the depth of the sea,
Because it's all in your imagination,

And your power to make things what you want,
At least in your mind.
You may have the strength and luck, too,
To really change the time,

And make it alright,
To look at yourself again,
Not from the outside, but in a mirror,
Because you're in the right occupation.

Ask Yourself

So what, if you lose everything,
You've ever fought for?
What you must ask yourself is, what do you have left,
And how can you get more?

And the answer is to let go,
Because holding on is not how you first got,
What you've now lost, so stick with what works,
Because, others don't really care a lot,

Becasue they have their own things to hang onto,
And have worked for them as hard as you.
But if you support them as you rebuild,
They will support you, too.

And it's alright,
If you lose some face on the way,
The best is to just put on a new one,
And just throw the old one away.

What If

You will often find,
If you look back on your life,
Instances of opportunities lost,
That just might,

Have erased all your worriies for stability,
But for which now it is too late.
Like that song, "if I knew then what I know now."
It's enough to make you irate,

With yourself and everyone you've ever known,
For not being quite good enough,
To have the vision others obviously do,
In figuring out stuff.

But it's alright,
It's all relative.
You can alway's make-believe,
You are a big success.

Demand the Best

It's alright to say,
That someone's not up to par.
In fact, if you are actually saying that,
Then you may have just raised the bar,

And disallowed the type of activity,
That has led to failure in the past.
It's alright to demand a good showing,
Even if you look like an ass,

Because if you don't then it just might happen,
That you'll be judged by the company you keep,
By those who will accept no less that the best,
While you're happy with mediocre feats.

And it's not alright,
To just ignore the problem.
It's much easier to drag people down,
Than to make them rise to the occasion.

What Do You Want From Life?

When the moment of truth finally comes,
And every moment after that,
Promises to determine the shade of your life,
Do you really want to act?

Do you really want to push the issue?
For consider this:
Though you might be always wondering, 'what if',
At least you won't wish,

You had never crossed that threshold,
For, even if it's what you always dreamed,
Reality never offers what you anticipate,
And what you want is never coupled with ease.

And it's alright,
Not to take the leap of faith,
People in this world generally don't,
Except those who are considered great.

Most Are Doomed

Hard work doesn't necessarily get you somewhere,
But has anyone ever got anywhere without it?
Some people will never know,
Because they simply won't commit,

To researching this question because they lack,
The nurturing that would have given them,
The tools needed to live in this world,
And simply not exist in,

A guided tour that includes nothing that,
They would choose to ever see,
Or in a vehicle they like to drive,
Or, rather, be in the passenger's seat.

But it's alright,
To be successful demands that,
The vast majority are unsuccessful.
It's a definitive component of the act.

In The Face of Adversity

It's not what you get,
But what you get for it,
And what it tells you about yourself,
And whether you're legitimate.

And by legitimate, let's understand,
That before someone can make a claim,
To being successful in this life,
His heart must feel the same,

In his highest time as in his lowest,
Because success is not power,
Instead it's about knowing what you're doing,
In the face of your darkest hour.

And it's alright,
If you are not that strong,
No one really is, which brings us back to Hume:
It's not why, but what it is that you've done.
