How To Get Ahead

Just keep on trucking,
'Cause if you don't, you're liable to find,
That when you get to where you finally end up,
You've been left behind,

By all of those that you admired,
But didn't understand why,
Until you're standing on the roadside,
Watching them all drive by,

'Cause they have gas and they have direction,
And they had the foresight,
To know that you can't stay in one place forever,
And you can't always hitch a ride.

So, it's alright,
If you're not as far as you thought you'd be,
As long as where that exactly is,
Is also haunting your dreams.

When You'll Be Successful

When do opportunities come?
When you least expect them,
Just when you've started to enjoy what you're doing,
That's exactly when,

You forget about your dissatisfaction,
And when your universe transforms,
And those around you start talking to others,
About how you're above the norm,

And then it is no coincidence,
That the offers start rolling in,
For now you're seen as a positive force,
And a multi-disciplinarian.

and it's alright,
That you will hit lows again,
That's only when you stop and look around,
And change direction.

You Can't Fight Change

Things do change so quickly,
That is no surprise,
And now it is because you've forgotten,
That it's hard to decide,

To change things because of the consequences,
Which are all in your head,
Until they change, and then you realize,
That everything's predetermined,

Like change, which happens all the time,
Except when you resist it,
For that moment before it overcomes you,
Because the world is not static.

It's fluid alright,
It will overwhelm you, if you're not, too,
And will change you to an old curmudgeon,
Like so many before you.

To Do

There is a big difference,
Between sticking with something,
And being passionate about it,
For fifteen,

Minutes, until you forget all about it,
Because that's just how you are made.
Think about how far you could have gotten,
If you just stuck with something for a day?

But that is what separates those that do,
And those that never will.
IS there any hope for you?
Only time will tell.

And it's alright,
It also depends,
On what you truly want from this world.
Success or regrets.

Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm,
Of any kind,
When coupled with the enthusiasm of another,
Quickly becomes sublime,

And speeds up time, for you are now having fun,
For you cannot have vun alone,
Unless you imagine that the world would be having fun with you,
If it was home.

And enthusiasm shared with many people,
Is a very powerful thing,
Though more out of control of your influence,
And so less satisfying,

Which is alright,
But not ideal,
For anything that requires many people,
Also lacks something intrinsically real.

Release

When it hasn't come out of you,
In a very long time,
It does not mean it's stale, but you might have to,
Remember how to climb,

To those heights that bring it about,
Because it's in all of us,
The result of working up to the moment,
When the world is glorious,

And others cannot help but know the origin,
Of the product,
Because it's as natural as stardust,
Whether it's in everyone or not.

And it's alright,
If you're embarrassed in the end,
That just means that you've produced something true,
To your deepest opinion.

You Moving?

It is very easy,
To get stuck in a rut,
And imagine you're going places,
But,

If you stop and look around you,
You might notice that others,
Are actually moving and you're disoriented,
Into feeling your motion is forward,

Until the moment you wake up,
And all your joints are aching with the truth,
That the illusion of motion's been deceiving,
You since the moment that you left youth.

And it's alright,
At least you'll think that until the next phase,
When you realize that it's really too late,
For this motionless life to be saved.

The Top

Can you keep on going?
Is there time to stop?
What are others doing, either way?
Are you barred from being on top?

And is the one on top the one who won't stop,
And is the oldest of those who don't?
Surely, there's more than just perseverance to succeed,
Like nature, nurture, geography and hope.

And a combination of these is probably the way,
That one succeeds at what she does.
And for that matter, there are many tops,
To be striven for by many humans.

And it's alright,
If you don't know which one to strive for.
But if you don't pick at least one randomly,
You're guaranteed to never get off the floor.

If You Want

There is nothing more you have to do,
Than continually try,
And continually devise the next step,
With your mind,

And be aware of where you are,
And of where you are going,
And keep an eye out for those who may,
Want to destroy your glory,

For reasons you must understand,
Or you'll never get very far,
And never relax,
If you want a future.

And it's alright,
If you don't,
Or if you can't put in the effort,
To dig that moat.

Success

Now you just have to coast it,
All the work is done,
At some point you just have to let go,
At least for a second,

Until that wave is waning again,
And its momentum can't carry you,
And you have a minute to reflect on the ride,
Until it's once again time to do.

And hopefully you will have learned something,
From your experiences so far.
Somethings by now should be second nature,
And first nature should never enter this far.

And it's alright,
If you don't want to improve.
Life's not a game, and whether you succeed or not,
Is not a matter of win or lose.

Momentum

What's the value of momentum,
And the effects that it has,
On the thing that is possible,
That never was?

As it snowballs so does it grow,
And bowls over all it sees,
Grabbing people along the way,
If only because they want to be,

Part of the greater group they're not part of,
Because there is strength in numbers,
And everyone just wants to be strong,
Because society just wants to smother.

And it's alright,
As long as the snowball is one of good,
Which means it intends to unify,
Rather than get all that it could.
