Raise Yourself

when you have young children,
As we all do, in our hearts,
You must forego all other tasks,
Until you've done your part,

To nurture them and show them,
That they are the most important thing,
In you're life, not to spoil them,
But to give them dignity,

And self-worth, for you've only one chance,
Because, mark my word,
They will grow and either nurture you,
Or throw you to the curb,

Which is alright,
If all you care about is yourself,
But if you want to pass on love and peace,
Shower it on someone else.

The Anger Inside

Yes, you can have anger,
With no way to hold it back,
Even if you know that it's coming,
Because of something that you lack,

Which could be patience, or foresight,
Or even the ability,
To deal with what you deal with everyday.
It's your personaility.

And when you wonder if it will end,
Or you can be cured,
You don't actually want to change yourself,
You want to change the world.

Alright, alright,
Forget about your frown,
And what to do about it.
Turn the world upside down!

The Bad Does Come With the Good

Nothing is ever permanent,
Event the thought that nothing is,
And one moment you can feel on top of the world,
Like it's made for you, as if,

It's only a projection of your mind,
And you mold it as you like,
Until you lose control and feel like a player,
In some god's game night.

And do you want this nuance to disappear?
Do you want to know it all?
Or feel like you do, I think some do,
It's called being fanatical.

So, it's alright,
If you're feeling as small as a pea.
That's the privilege of being human:
Knowing you won't always be.

Getting Ahead

There is a fine line,
Between self-help and common sense,
The one only scratching the surface,
To ignore commitment,

To what's important,
Which is common sense,
Which is following your heart,
And as reliable as sight, touch or scent,

Or hearing and taste, which is really to say,
That it is not perfect,
But much deeper than any rule of thumb,
That is really just a product of it.

And it's alright,
Either one can get the same result,
And it's not how you feel, but how you look,
When you're trying to move up.

Don't Know Thyself

It is impossible,
To express what you feel.
That is why most people never do it,
And for others it's such an ordeal,

That never ends and comes out in song,
Tirade, fists or sometimes tears,
And that's the nature of emotions,
Just like we don't truly know the source of our fears,

Or likes, or loves or even ourselves,
These are the questions that can keep you occupied,
And someone successful lied to keep you in place,
If he told you otherwise.

But it's alright,
To be kept in your place,
If you have no desire to get anywhere,
Or to look yourself in the face.

Do Things Right

Know your limitations,
And your limitations in a group,
And your limitations in resources,
Unless you are a dupe.

Don't try anything if it doesn't feel right,
Because instinct is another sense,
As physical as sight or smell,
Detecting appropriateness.

Plan before you do things, even in your mind,
Walking through something from beginning to end,
Thoughtfully, and slowly for two reasons:
To visualize and for anticipation.

And it's alright,
It's never too late to fix things.
Just sit back and pretend,
That you just came on the scene.

Be Your Self

How much can you change,
Until you're somebody else,
For somebody else until that person,
Is not the person for yourself,

But is in fact the instigator,
Of the creation of the person you are,
Who is not the person you want to be,
Though you would not know that because who you are,

Will not recognize what you used to be,
Because you will be so far gone?
Just remember at every moment in your life,
That there's always time for a revolution.

And it's alright,
If it turns your life upside down,
If you're not who you ought to be anymore.
You know what happens when you reverse a frown:)

Undermining

One thing to make absolutely sure,
Is that the environment,
You find yourself in is the ideal one,
For self-improvement.

If it leaves you feeling incomplete,
Or not up to the task,
You can be sure it's undermining your potential,
And there's no need to ask,

Those in charge of maintaining your house.
Feelings can never be wrong.
They may be the result of misinterpretation,
But their reality remains true all along.

And it's alright,
As long as you don't let it sit,
Too long before you do something,
To at least acknowledge it.
