What You Believe

I know that you don't believe,
In the notion that,
All these things that are happening,
That are bad,

That are thwarting all your plans,
And hurting you and your clan,
Might be the work of a higher force,
And may actually end up grand,

Because you don't believe in anything,
That you cannot see and test against,
Which is a legitimate stance to take,
But no saner than rejecting all sense,

Because we're all alright,
Based on what we expect from this life,
But if you see only one path to your goals,
You can only expect strife.

How to Commemorate

Once you start brainstorming,
You have to know when to stop,
Or you may leave your first intent,
Or plan something over and above,

What is actually possible.
This is not rare.
If everything thought was actually made,
There'd be no room up in here,

And you don't want to live just in your mind,
Even though that may be all there is,
Because within it there's still this division,
Between fantasy and existence.

And it's alright,
If that's alright for you.
Some people are happy thinking of projects,
While not wanting anything to do.

Protect Yourself

You never know where life will lead you,
You never really know,
Or what people are thinking,
No matter what they show,

And though you can't judge a book by its cover,
Its cover, you can surely judge,
And when that's all you have to judge by,
Surround yourself with those you love,

And, when that's all you have,
To protect yourself from content,
Collect as many as you can,
To minimize each's affect,

On you being alright,
Because you will find,
When one opens itself up to you as your enemy,
The rest will have your behind.

The Way To Live To Acheive Your Goals

Some people are calculating,
And that's alright for them,
Unless they are doing,
Because of the observation,

That some of those who calculate,
Seem to make,
Their lives what they want,
Or, at least, seem that way,

But if that's the case,
It can only be,
Because they are living,
According to they propensities,

Which is alright,
But not for those like us,
We tend to acheive our goals,
Through obliviousness.

When You Have Something To Do

The most important time to relax,
Is when you have work to do,
More than you can get done in time,
And other people are counting on you,

Just retreat into your cave whenever,
You are able to,
And lose yourself, that is the only way,
To create many moments from just a few,

And if someone is peaking in,
Don't stop for the shit to shoot,
Deny yourself any interaction,
Or you will surely rue,

The day alright,
You will always ask yourself, "Why,
When I have my whole life in front of me,
Did I throw it away for a piece of pie?"

Stop to Consider

When you're thinking of what could have been,
Make sure to include,
All those possibilities that would have destroyed you,
Along with the good,

Things that could have happened should you have followed,
Some other path,
Because you never know what leads to disaster.
Then be happy where you are at.

And when you're stifled by a particularly,
Difficult decision,
Ponder the fact that if you had crossed the road any sooner,
You might have been in a collision.

And it's alright,
If this seems a cop-out for running your life.
Go ahead and be obsessed with what-ifs,
And see if you're left with anymore might.

What If

You will often find,
If you look back on your life,
Instances of opportunities lost,
That just might,

Have erased all your worriies for stability,
But for which now it is too late.
Like that song, "if I knew then what I know now."
It's enough to make you irate,

With yourself and everyone you've ever known,
For not being quite good enough,
To have the vision others obviously do,
In figuring out stuff.

But it's alright,
It's all relative.
You can alway's make-believe,
You are a big success.

The Best Laid Plan

The best laid plans,
Rely on so much,
And often fail, due to unforeseen events,
And so are not really plans, as such,

Except so far as they assume that things,
Will continue in a predictable way,
And, of course, the world sincerely hopes,
That they will one day.

And the solution is not to not plan at all,
For the perception of freedom is then lost.
So just expect the unexpected and you,
Will not underestimate the cost,

Of being alright,
Which is incalculable,
For when you can't count on anything,
Your contingency is invaluable.

Don't Plan

Nothing motivates more,
Than immediacy,
Nor is there anything better at also producing,
Idiocy,

For what is more contrary to good planning,
Than the scurried grasping at what is there,
Immediately to help you in your task,
Instead of thinking ahead of it when you must care,

About the outcome? Because no matter what,
It is you are preparing for,
The earlier, the more removed,
Whether for a party or a funeral.

And it's alright,
People will understand,
That you had little time in which to prepare,
Because you didn't plan.
