What Was That?

It's another world,
The one I just came from,
Where other worlds are denied access,
Because of their composition.

I hardly escaped with my head,
Or, at least, I think that was the case,
And I would have stayed to find out the truth,
But, it's always been something I can't face.

But, at least, I have today,
Without which I couldn't even ponder,
Where I'd be today,
If I had stayed over yonder.

It's alright,
There'll be other worlds down the road,
Maybe not on the one I'm driving now,
But I'm happy when all's told.

Loneliness

If you're feeling lonely,
Maybe the problem is,
That you're not hanging around other people,
Or, at least, ones that exist,

In the same world, because don't forget,
That space is not the only clue,
To where someone's head actually resides,
And how close it is to you.

That is why a book can take you far away,
And a friend can seem distant.
So, if you want to kill your loneliness,
Expand your mind to encompass all you can.

And it's all right,
Even if it's all an illusion,
It's not how you look but how you feel,
That is the key to the solution.

Playing the Field

Now that you are alone,
You've regressed to your past state,
Which is to say that you are drunk at home,
Looking for a date.

But as luck won't have it, some action must take place,
To put you out into the view of others,
Preferably not in your present state,
But in one where you do not suffer.

And by suffer, I mean ashamed of yourself,
Because one can be in pain and still attract,
As long as the pain's showing despite your attempts,
It will appear as an unveiled fact.

Though, it's alright,
Maybe someone will bust through your door,
And instead of being someone wishing to rob you,
It might be the date that you've been looking for.

I'm The Father

I can't take the time now,
To do all I want to do, you know,
Just like we now know who's Dannielynn's father,
I told you so.

Life demands that you be a certain way,
That you stay that way at certain times,
And the life you build around you,
Makes other demands of other kinds.

And there are always choices, but what have we learned,
But that the straight and narrow is the one,
That provides the support from society,
Regardless that it's a bad one?

But it's alright,
Or, at least, it has to be,
I don't have the time to think it's anything else,
Or else, I'll be late for where I have to be.

Salvia Divinorum

I've never taken this herb,
Though, I swear I would,
If I wasn't afraid of never coming back,
To this imperfect world.

I'd get from it what I get from other things,
That make me forget where I am,
When after returning I realize I'm the same person I was,
When I was a completely different man.

But now, I guess, I have too much to lose,
I'm not afraid of leaving, but of not coming back,
Which sounds dramatic, but when you've got a kid,
You don't want to treat him like that.

And it's alright,
I'm not that old quite yet,
There are still the tried and true ways of escape,
And I'll never give up those, I bet.

Isn't It Great?

Here we go again,
You can't escape what,
You agreed to do, even if it's not,
That which you really want.

Not to say I'm not happy in general,
I could be doing a lot worse,
And, in fact, I'm doing pretty good,
In the society in which I've been nursed.

I love you and I love it and him,
I love the way they all come together,
I love how I never really had to direct myself,
To be in the position to be such a lover.

And it's alright,
In the end, it's really just a twist of fate,
And it's also a twist of the mind,
That makes a person's life great.

The Movies

What makes things interesting,
In a good movie?
Is it the things that would never happen,
In reality?

Or rather the things you would never expect,
Or, at least, things that you'd never dare dream.
If that's the case sometimes I feel,
That I'm in a movie.

Like when I sit and really look around,
And try to paint a line from birth until now,
Who would have thought that this is where I'd end up?
I think you'd say the same about yourself, somehow.

And it's alright,
We haven't ended up where we will yet,
That's the difference between life and the movies:
Life never ends.

Choices

Try to separate your,
Time so that you can,
Do everything you want to, and I bet,
That you can't.

One thing requires that you be someone else,
And while you do that, you need to be someone else,
To do the other thing that needs to get done.
It's a wonder that you're ever yourself.

Of course, this all is true only as you get older,
And more than one stream serves to make up your life,
Because when you're young you don't bank on just one thing,
Because that would be like rolling the dice.

And it's not alright,
If you just try to start all over again,
Unless you destroy everything in your life first,
And that is no solution.

Happy Time

What if the monkey on your back,
Is a cute little thing?
Why get it off if it is not that heavy,
And makes you feel naughty?

Let go of good and evil, that's what they say,
When they are good enough to live in the world,
With all the people following the rules.
It must be nice to have self-control.

The key is to have a world where everyone,
Let's loose within the boundaries of peace.
But not everyone's happy inside those walls,
And so, everyone can never all be happy.

And it's alright,
If some people suffer for others,
The key is to minimize that number,
While maximizing the ones who not need suffer.

To Be Happy

If all I wished would happen,
Happened for me,
I know there'd still be things to wish for,
But I would be more happy.

Okay, maybe not more happy, but satisfied,
I'm not turning this into a lesson,
On how you have to be happy with what you have.
That's not the structure of Capitalism.

That's one good thing, it offers goals to reach,
While never allowing you to get all you desire,
As long as you're part of a small percentage of the population,
You're living fairly comfortable, and can rise a little higher.

And it's alright,
Life is hard, no matter what,
Unless we all start treating each other nice,
And start being happy with what we got.

Ski Day

My belly is full,
I'm ready to start the day,
I'm not going to work,
Because I'm going to play today.

I wish it could last forever,
Minus a few factors,
I guess nothing's ever perfect,
That's what dreams are for.

So I'm out the door now,
As soon as I get ready,
Another proof that things are not ideal,
Or I'd be as naked as Adam and Eve.

And it's alright,
Even though I've come at nothing profound,
At least I can say that I've done something,
Even if it doesn't make a sound.

I Know You

Now the snow is falling,
Not that reality should define,
What it is that's brewing up inside me,
But it's an interesting thing besides.

If it was like this everyday I would be,
More likely to be someone else,
Just like if I had a tragic childhood experience,
But didn't remember it, myself.

It's not another person walking around,
Influencing me in what I do.
It's not me either, I encompass all,
And know more than you think about you.

And it's alright,
I still need a lot of practice,
To be able to read you like a book,
So, don't go get all anxious.

Monday, April 02, 2007

Use It

When you are away,
From what you know the most,
When you want to be there, too,
After you've had your toast,

You must let go of it all,
At least in so far as you,
Can't do anything physically,
But there's something you can do:

Look at that world from the place that you are,
Because you're in a very good spot,
To look at yourself as someone else,
And see what it is you've got.

And it's alright,
If you realize you don't got a lot.
Not many people really do,
It's all about what you've been taught.

Gotta Go

I don't have much time now,
I know that that is not an excuse,
Why not do all you have to do when you can?
Well, what is the use?

You can't take it with you and what about what others,
Think about you when you're no longer around?
I'm not sure what effect it has on you,
When you're six feet underground.

Who am I kidding, isn't what we want,
To find out the meaning of life?
I thought it was until I made one of my own,
And now I just want meaning for my son and wife.

And it's alright,
If I'm not making sense to you,
Because I'm not making sense to myself,
And that is what I always intend to do.

The Moon

How is it that the moon,
Always keeps on the other side from the sun?
Though, I know that this is not quite the case.
It makes me think of where I'm from.

It is so far away,
Like my folks and even my thoughts,
But still it pulls the sea up towards it,
I relate to it a lot.

Sometimes small and sometimes bigger than life,
Sometimes seen, sometimes hidden by clouds,
God, sometimes hidden by the smallest of trees,
But, unlike my thoughts, never loud.

And it's alright,
I don't really think of it that much.
I have much more important things on my mind.
Really, the moon is just a hunk of rock.

Experience

Does knowing what to do,
Come naturally to some?
Because I have to tell you,
Experience provides me my only information.

And so you learn from your mistakes of the past,
But that means you have mistakes in your past,
That others see and that you have to dwell on,
Hindsight's twenty-twenty is a major ass.

But you must go on, because at least you can learn,
Unlike those in your life who never have,
And are now left behind by experience,
As if they don't even have a past.

And it's alright,
Eventually experience will make you wise,
And those coming up behind will be quite impressed,
Just like you are now by those other guys.

Health

Is it really healthy,
To just feel good,
If it is at the expense of others' existence,
And the existence of the world?

But then again, are they all there is?
If I am living for just everyone else,
Am I ignoring the world within,
And, so, risking my health?

I guess the key is to acknowledge both sides,
In case it's just you, or just others that exist,
And, of course, if it's a combination of both,
Then you also have covered the mix.

But is it alright,
If such acknowledgement leaves you depressed?
Maybe the key to universal health,
Is to let people believe whatever they wish.

Self-Consciousness

You must get over this hump,
If you're going to continue,
And that means forgetting all those around you,
And imagining it's only you.

For, if not, then you have lost a great deal,
Of what you consider to be your core,
And then you may as well just give up,
'Cause it will never be like before.

When you could walk into a room and not care,
That you were in the loudest suit in the world,
Heck, it helped defined who you really were,
Even if it never got you the girl.

I guess it's alright,
If you want to go away and hide,
Life is a very multi-layered thing,
And who am I to say in which to reside?

Tuesday, March 27, 2007

Exposure

Can you kill something,
By letting it be known?
The risk is certainly higher,
Than just keeping it locked up at home.

But then it loses something, or at least never gains,
The notoriety of having stuck out,
Its neck no matter the axe waiting to chop.
A ticket never wins that is never bought.

So take it out and show the world,
What you have to offer,
And if the first one doesn't see its value,
Then just offer it to another.

And it's alright,
If you never find someone who cares,
What more can you do than expose yourself?
No one ever said the world was fair.

Progress

Have you ever wondered,
What it's all about?
I've had dreams that have explained it all,
Until I'm awake and full of doubt.

But then again, with the breeze on my face,
And the sun warming up my soul,
I can't imagine anything going wrong,
And nothing will, until I fall.

And here it is, because the door has been opened,
Like I've opened so many doors in the past,
And never learned that they never lead to good,
And always say the last one will be my last.

And it's alright,
It's all the same in the end,
This room will stop presenting surprises,
And I'll have to open another door again.

Sunday, March 25, 2007

Anytime

I will try to be more inclusive,
Because what's the good in being,
If there is no one else to share in it,
Because they're out doing their own thing?

So, what do you want to talk about?
There is some nasty shit in Africa,
And many people feel the end is near,
But, you don't think that way, do ya?

What really matters is that something exists,
Despite the problems in the world,
Of course, the fact that it exists here at all,
Must mean that it has a share in all the evil.

And it's alright,
At least it's not that bad,
I am happy, really, most of the time,
And that I'm not always, even makes me glad.

Saturday, March 24, 2007

Open Book

Is it wise to open,
Yourself up like a book?
Well, if you think that you can actually do that,
Let me have a look.

Don't be afraid, I'm sure you'll always have,
Another layer up your sleeve.
If I thought that I knew everything in your mind,
I still would not believe.

And don't forget that you have to explore, too,
What are you if you're not a puzzle to yourself?
If I knew what I was going to do next,
I would need psychological help.

Oh, it's alright,
Go ahead and know what you please,
And make your opinion, but be aware,
That you can change, at least.

Friday, March 23, 2007

Satisfaction

It must be a trick of the mind,
Whether stressed or trying to get rid of it,
Because, really, what is so important,
That it should make you feel like this?

Well, maybe the fact that you have mouths to feed,
And that your power to do so rests on a hinge.
Maybe you weren't made for this type of thing,
But that's how the world is.

And if you can't live in it, well you can always live outside,
If you scrounge up enough money for motion,
But jumping classes is not an easy thing,
Neither side likes such peregrination.

And it's alright,
You actually have it pretty good,
If you can learn to live where you actually are,
And not where you think you actually should.

Thursday, March 22, 2007

Hello Again

Look at how it brings us all together,
Or, at least, within each others' minds,
I'd say our consciousnesses, compared with those of the past,
Are certainly more wide.

Or maybe just shifted into another world,
Where connection is a physical act,
And if that means it brings me closer to you,
Well, I am all for that.

And you seem like such a wider person, anyway,
What you choose to show is like an open book.
Like I've met you on the street, and you're nothing but smiles,
So, I have no further to look.

And it's alright,
If we actually don't communicate,
My love for you lies in what you've always showed me,
And what you've always showed me's only been great.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

From Within

All of the praise in the world,
Won't serve to bolster up yourself,
Because your scale of measurement,
Isn't held by someone else.

And you are hard on yourself, more than you should be,
Because, without happiness what do you got?
Nothing I would call too close to living.
Nothing a healthy person ought.

Satisfaction before action is the key,
For attitude shines a light that will show,
The potential for everyone around you,
Whether by yourself or if it helps them to know.

And it's alright,
If you don't always get your way,
No one in the history of the world has,
But, believe me, you will have your day.

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

Happiness

No, I don't believe that,
Two different people,
Have different capacities for happiness,
Though, they'd get it from different appeal.

And, actually, since they are different people,
One could make a relation of all of their traits,
And I bet the things they love would be identical,
If just one of them were put in the same place.

And Schopenhauer's right for all of his prejudice,
One must turn inside for happiness,
External things have no real control at all,
Because they are so transient.

So, it's alright,
Go ahead and turn within yourself,
Just don't forget that you need to be reflected,
In the external, to have true mental health.

Monday, March 19, 2007

The Good Life

It is all in your mind,
This regular self-doubt,
And I know that it is not sincere,
But it may be starting to psych you out.

No one object's the same because it's seen from different,
Points of view, even if by the same person,
And no one you see's completely confident,
And if she is, well give her a another second.

Not to say that you cannot be confident yourself,
You actually have to to make it.
And you get that by finding the person you like,
And never being different.

And it's alright,
If others try to psych you out,
Remember who you are and have faith in it,
And you will eradicate the self-doubt.

Milestones

What is the prognosis,
When life becomes too hard,
And the question is whether you'll get over that hump,
Or whether you're not going to get far?

Do the successes of the past provide any clue,
Or do people just get as far as they can?
I hope it's the former because I'm a guy on the move,
And won't feel right unless I always am.

I love my life, my wife, my son and myself,
But does this world think anything of me?
Does success in this one mean I don't want another,
Where everyone's equal in society?

And it's alright,
My faith will get me through,
And my determination to have fun doing what,
Allows me to do everything else I want to do.

Saturday, March 17, 2007

Change

Sometimes I have to remember,
What it is that makes me valuable,
To people, outside of the normal stuff,
And make that indespensable.

What is it that separates us,
From the tasks that we do everyday?
Whatever it is, I want to maximize on it,
And turn my work into play.

And I will do it, as I have said that I would,
About five thousand times in the past,
And I think I did it on those times too,
But no one world ever really lasts.

And it's alright,
This one won't be the last either,
But I'm willing to try my darndest in this one,
To give my family a future.

Friday, March 16, 2007

Renewal

I must readjust now,
And by that I mean surrender,
And by that I mean get a hold of myself,
And have faith in my power.

Every moment is an opportunity,
For a new beginning,
And if you truly believe that, you're either insane,
Or a superbeing.

And the only way to know is to clear your head,
Hold it high and believe in yourself,
As others will if your belief is true,
And if you are able to delve.

And it's alright,
You're not feeding the hungry,
And if you ask yourself why you are not,
Just point to the structure of society.

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Inevitability

It is time to switch gears,
And no one is giving me time,
To contemplate the one that I am leaving,
But, I guess, that's fine.

It's all about embracing a new way of living,
And trying it out before bowing out,
Not to say that it is inevitable,
When it's something I know nothing about.

In the end it can only be the same thing,
That you've dealt with all of your life,
Because like anything else in this world,
It will be coloured by your light.

And it's alright,
You're not locked into any one thing,
Life is still filled with infinite possibilities.
That is an inevitability.

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

Take It Easy

Okay, there are issues bigger,
Than the ones you deal with everyday,
And those people with the bigger issues,
Lack the resources to make them go away.

So you have advantages, because if you work hard,
You can knock them off one by one.
Of course, the fact that you have any at all,
Implies that's a job that will never get done.

Don't blame yourself, there are many things in your past,
That led you to make yourself the way that you are,
And it's never to late to change,
Though, I doubt you'll ever get very far.

Oh, it's alright,
Don't start moping around,
Just blame society for the state of your life,
It's the best excuse that's ever been found.

Monday, March 12, 2007

Vague

Let it all just go now,
Let it all be forgotten,
Don't start again, just float for a while,
And just stay in.

Sometimes it doesn't come, it just looks from afar,
And shakes its head, because you could never,
Do it just the way you could with it inside you,
But still, this is still a way to be sure.

Even this one is hard,
Will it ever finish?
I guess with shorter lines,
It is.

And it's alright,
It's all over now,
And doesn't have to be thought of again,
Until now.

Saturday, March 10, 2007

Baby

All is calm and still now,
I'm just looking in your face,
And trying to be as connected as possible,
Through the eyes and through your taste.

I never know what might be the problem now,
And I never know when bliss will hit the stage,
I want to explore you for an eternity,
And never reach the final page.

And I will, I will always be there with you,
And you will reject me, but don't worry,
Because when you need me in your darkest hour,
You can still call on me.

And it's alright,
If you never do,
Memories can be as real as reality,
And I have great memories of you.

End of an Era

Am I getting repetitive?
Well, how about this?
In eight hours there will be nothing left,
Of this shit.

And I will miss it, god only knows,
Because what you do defines your life,
And if you change what you do, well then guess what?
Are you strong enough to take that knife?

Enough questions, here's something to chew on,
A piece of meat that will still be there later:
A change represents the completely unknown,
And may end up being a complete disaster.

And it's alright,
Bring it on,
Whether in the frying pan or in the fire,
I represent the revolution.

Working Hard

Well, I'm almost finished,
What will I do then?
Your heart and soul are things eternal,
And you put them into something transient.

My time and loved ones are short-lived, too,
But I'm kept from them for other things,
Do I have to talk about the state of society again,
To point out Capitalism's shortcomings?

Yes, it's not what you have, but what you do with it,
So, let me ask you this,
You're either jobless and broke, or working all the time,
So, isn't it time that we reassess?

Oh, it's alright,
There's always early retirement,
For a skosh of the population,
Who figure out how to beat the system.

Wednesday, March 07, 2007

Reality

You want me to speak more about reality?
Okay, here we go...
My eyes are bloodshot and my body is weak,
And I don't want anybody to know.

I have no streets, but I've been attacked by gangs
Of people who don't even know each other,
They're just tied by the binds of selfishness,
And I'm just a young father.

And I'm not innocent, well maybe I am,
Because my crimes right now escape me,
And I gave up on Catholicism years ago,
But, please don't tell my daddy.

And it's alright,
At least my ass isn't itching today.
I'm on very little sleep and I got work to do,
If I want to continue getting paid.

Tuesday, March 06, 2007

Working for the Weekend

Thank god time goes forward,
And that it is non-stop,
If it got stuck in the moments I've been living,
Living for much longer, I would not.

But then there're moments I wish could last forever,
With, of course, the memories of the ones,
I would not repeat for all the money in the world.
Without them it would not be nearly as fun.

But now I just have to just keep on trucking,
And soon it will all be over,
And I can stumble into another cycle,
Of too many moments away from my lover.

Oh, it's alright,
I'm doing it for my family in the end,
And they know that, and as long as it's not forever,
I can put up with this confusion.

Monday, March 05, 2007

New Beginnings

Well, this is the beginning,
As every moment is,
Though not recognized as such by the people around you,
And so not as momentous.

But now I have the dreams to prove it,
And the determination,
That forces from my past will not interfere,
With any of my conclusions.

Like a branch that finally falls from a tree,
What does it matter if the final tip was from the wind,
When it weathered so much throughout its existence,
And now a new existence it must begin?

And it's alright,
If everything is new.
Use what you have and have faith in the rest,
For what else can you possibly do?

Sunday, March 04, 2007

Inevitability

Again, time is precious,
And the prospects in what's left are dire,
But in the interim before it begins,
I must make my conscious raise higher.

No matter the anticipated failure,
Anything can happen in this world,
And if you envision a miraculous end,
At least it won't hurt, though it won't make success sure.

But what happens that isn't the result of belief?
What doesn't come up that somehow isn't planned?
Conquer the world by the strength of your mind,
And when it's all over you'll realize who I am.

And it's alright,
Things will turn out as they will, you can't stop time,
As long as you take responsibility for it,
You can, in the end, proudly claim that it's mine.

Friday, March 02, 2007

Perserverence

It's the beginning of the end,
And may it last a long time,
And may it not be the only end in sight,
And may it not be mine.

Sometimes if you come through a struggle in one piece,
Even if all you have to show for it,
Is that you survived it relatively sane,
It shows others that you are deserved.

It's not hard to imagine that life is hard,
For one continues to beat his head against it,
Whether he is the luckiest man in the world,
By others' estimates.

And it's alright,
You never know what's on the other end,
Or how people viewed the way you took the journey,
Until you make it around that bend.

Chin Up

I'm sure I'm not the only one,
With immense self-doubt,
Or with an aura of competence,
Or with the belief that I am without.

How crazy are you when everyone else,
Has no reference from which to guage,
How to be sure that what they know's what they know,
And when you're always a step away from rage?

If this is just a step in my journey in life,
That everyone else takes unless they don't live,
Then bring it on, if I have nothing else,
I have a lot of resistence to give.

And it's alright,
Everyday brings new challenges,
That are only that because they are completely new,
And remind you that you have senses.

The Universe

Thank you, oh Universe,
You have really kept me on track,
And though we all are living within you,
I feel slightly ahead of the pack.

Fortunes can reverse like a wheel in a rut,
And like Job, the most pious can still be let go,
And if that happens, like everything, that is life.
Though, how I'll take it I just don't know.

And then there're jinxes to counteract belief,
At least one of those needs to be dominant,
And whether one always prevails or they take turns,
Can't be determined by any experiments.

And it's alright,
You'll always do what You have to do,
And if things turn out, well that's the ultimate feeling,
And I'll know to always thank You.

Taking It Easy

Let's see if as my world falls apart,
The pieces stumble into place,
Really, when isn't there chaos,
Except when it's something you refuse to face?

Wouldn't it be glorious if life could be lived,
As if there's no order, but things will all work out?
It sounds easy to do, but no one does it,
And calls lazy the people who try it out.

Again, I must ask myself what is the point,
Of a system that only offers stress?
Let's all be as fluid as money's become,
And maybe we can all live with less.

And it's alright,
No one will know either way,
Try it out on the sly and then decide,
If you can live as such another day.

Take It Or Leave It

The limit has been reached,
For today,
The problem is the sun's not even come up yet.
How can I make it this way?

I know it will be over before I know it,
But that is what worries me,
Will I be ninety before I know it,
Wishing I'd done more to enrich reality?

I guess I'll just have to embrace what is left,
And acknowledge that it's all part of the miracle,
Of life, and that is that it is mind-blowing,
That it exists at all.

And it's alright,
By the time the sun sets today,
I'll once again be filled with the joy of life.
What can I say?

Recap

I don't want to be cliche,
But the world's coming out of my ass,
It's either that or I'm about to bust,
Is this how I'm supposed to last?

I know money can't buy happiness,
But it would sure free up my time,
To stress out my world however I want,
And to know what is mine.

I'm just afraid that before I know it,
I'll not know where I am,
And will be too far away from me,
That all will be illusion.

And it's alright,
I guess one world's no better than the next,
But I kinda worked hard on this one,
And I'm determined to stick with it.

Coming To

Maybe I'm not what I think I am,
Maybe everyone sees something different,
And if I could only see me now,
But, alas, I can't.

The teeter's so wobbly I'm afraid it will fall,
Definitely on one side,
And neither one's necessarily welcomed,
But how I must live, I must abide.

And it doesn't matter if I become insane once in a while,
And even if I go and never come back,
There's a lot of bullshit I wouldn't miss,
And nothing I should lack.

And it's alright,
I may have gone there already,
And I don't think I am the only one,
That has entertained that possibility.

Tired Still

It is all worth it,
If the worth it moments are only that,
Though why the world should be structured like this,
I can only take a stab.

My body's tired and my soul is weak,
And if I believe that, then it will be true,
And is it not right that sometimes you should surrender,
To eventually feel like new?

Never mind, I'm not the only one,
And won't even be the last.
I must dredge up some energy to finish,
Or the world will chug on past.

It's alright,
This will not last forever,
I believe, but then you never know,
The cords of this world are hard to sever.

Tired

I'm so tired again,
I don't know what to say,
There's so much happening around me,
I can't keep the distractions away.

Why am I doing this? I must be insane,
Or at least not thinking clear,
Is it better to do the best you can,
Or just do it without fear?

I don't know, once again,
I guess I'm almost done,
And if you stick around another day,
You'll see I'm not so quite gone.

And it's alright,
Only time will tell,
Have I said that before to you,
Or was it someone else?

Tired

This better not be,
What life's all about.
It's alright for a small portion of putting in your time,
But if it's eternal, I just want out.

Maybe it's not a matter of changing things,
But increasing my energy and potential,
To become a more superhuman person,
And so not be bummed out by- I've fizzled.

Coasting is just what I'll have to do,
Though I don't want this to be my M.O.
Let's just say that I have the power within me,
To make things happen even if I'm K.O.'d.

And it's alright,
Nothing lasts forever,
Unless you're talking about a neurosis,
Oh, what is it all for?

Crash

With all of the things happening,
That I've given birth to,
I guess that's proof that I am alive,
And that I really do live with you.

The miracle of life has really struck me,
What with all of this sensory input,
Since the creation of our son every moment's precious,
And every step's my first.

But time just keeps on trucking,
And I can't dwell on the past,
Sometimes I wish I could just leap it all,
And just get old real fast.

And it's alright,
My moods go up and down,
And right now they are all over the place.
I don't think I can keep it up, somehow.

Challenges

Here I am again,
Standing on the precipice,
Knowing things will probably work out,
But not having faith in this.

Is it a quality of my nature,
Or has my upbringing brought me here?
Either way, can I overcome it,
Because I can't live life in fear.

I guess the more I face it, the easier it will be,
As long as I mostly succeed,
And then will I become a better person?
I need a reason to nurture this seed.

And it's alright,
It's not important in the end,
What's really important is what's really real,
Though, if I figure that out, I don't know when.

Humility

Do not gloat about your status,
That is something that can change,
With the view of every new eye that judges it,
And every mistake you make.

Do not judge others, you know nothing about them,
Or the reasons why they look as they do.
A wolf in sheep's clothing is very dangerous,
And may be after you.

Do not speak of things you know as if you don't,
It wastes both time and space,
And besides you don't really know anything.
Remember that, and keep in your place.

Oh, it's alright,
You can still have fun, even with all that,
Just think of the world as being filled with equals,
And it will quickly become a fact.

The Teeter

It's a delicate balance,
I'm talking about anything that you do,
On either side is the realm of the unnacceptable,
And inside, very little room for the new.

You must put on a disguise if you wish to change,
To kill what's there, you must deflect and defend,
For everyone depends on what they know,
And are only truly wishing for the end.

But I want to shift the inside to untraversed places,
And stretch it out so that the teeter desists,
So there's no anxiety about others' feelings,
And we can wander where we would while nothing tips.

And it's alright,
If you say something strange to me,
I'll just assume that everything is the same,
And that you're only trying out new places to be.

Party Crasher

Do you see my hand?
Where does it start and stop?
And why is there a name for it at all,
When the most profound thing is that does not?

I want to walk in the boots of my past,
Not in the past, but as who I am now.
Like that Pepsi commercial, I want my old hair back,
Because it was more profound.

Every moment is a million in one,
Because it can be turned on end like anything,
And seen from more than a million angles,
And help us understand the true nature of things.

And it's alright,
If you don't have the time for a million things,
The point is that it can be done at all.
It's then that you can start truly living.

Periphery

Well, it worked out in the end,
Just as it always has done,
And of course the stress about it abated,
After seeing the homeless teen out in the snow storm.

I know what I do well and must have faith in it,
If I don't want to make work what it is,
That I do in life, rather than help raise a family.
That would be the dream of Capitalism.

I'm not against it, let the record show,
What system has shown any success in the past?
It's humans we're dealing with, no matter the country,
And among them, there will always be an ass.

But it's alright,
The trick is to live on the periphery.
Acknowledge the system, but make your life a bubble.
Only in that can you truly feel free.

The Day Will Work Out Perfectly

This is my last moment,
To let the universe know,
That though I continue to plan the world around me,
I'm letting it run the show.

The things I need to know will never leave me,
And the things that I can't control,
Which is everything, except insofar as it affects me,
I will let go.

I've gone through my mind all that I hope will happen,
And I trust that mind is one with you,
And that that feeling of magic happening,
Will, once again, make me feel new.

And it's alright,
If I have to handle things along the way,
I'm as much a part of things as anything else,
That's why I still get up each and everyday.

Spigot of Dreams

It may all be past now,
The feelings of inadequacy and fear,
Not because things in my life have really changed,
But just how things now appear.

Dreams of violence have diffused the pressure,
A spigot of thoughts to release the laughter.
Thinking of the people who influenced me negatively,
Until they rest in peace from now 'til hereafter.

It's a new day, and though it's been said before,
Anything can happen.
Natural disasters are no different than miracles,
And no more random.

And it's alright,
Yes, it is finally alright,
As long as I keep things in perspective,
And have fantistic dreams at night.

Sunday, February 11, 2007

Anxiety Again

I've had this feeling before,
And now it's come again.
Is it a sign that I'm doing the wrong thing,
Or that I've reached a new evolution?

Nothing worth it is ever easy,
That's what I've heard many times.
I guess I've just never had anything worth it,
Or nothing has ever been fine.

I guess time will tell and the lesson here,
Is to test the theory by sticking it out.
You only live once, right? And you could miss something,
If you only ever pick the same route.

And it's alright,
I'll get past this and out the other end,
And hopefully I'll be a better, stronger person,
And a role model around the bend.

Saturday, February 10, 2007

Believe

Is it really possible,
To escape the pressures of life,
By changing your head space and believing,
That everything will work out fine?

I guess, if you want proof,
You'd have to try it out yourself,
And maybe the very act will make you feel better,
And that may be a plus in itself.

"But, that is escapism," you might say,
"You can't just pretend everything is great."
I guess the question is, would things be better,
If you surrendered your future to fate?

And it's alright,
The control group is everyone,
Who lives their life by the rule of competition.
Of course, none of them will cooperate with the experimentation.

Friday, February 09, 2007

Management

I feel a lot cleaner,
As does my world.
I don't know if that means that they really are,
Or if I've given up on control.

Which is not bad, because I think the secret,
Is to know what's coming beforhand,
Not through some type of psychic prediliction,
But by imagining that it can.

Faith in those around you is important, too,
If they believe in what you are doing,
So nurture that faith before all else,
And you will soon see what I mean.

And it's alright,
If it doesn't quite go as planned,
Everything that you do is a test,
And, if you tried hard, the world will understand.

Lessons Learned

How can just one moment,
Change your perspective on your life,
When once time has passed to lessen its effect,
It's right back to how you like?

It's not as if the concrete proof of that moment,
Disappeared, for as we all know,
Nothing can be completely destroyed once made,
There's simply someplace else it must go,

Like deep inside where it can happily eat,
Until you feel like nothing but a shell,
And what you were becomes part of that parasite,
Oh god, please don't let me do that to myself.

And it's alright,
I'll just have to keep an eye on myself.
If you know who you are, you'll be hard to miss,
And all adversity can just go to hell.

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Focus

Sometimes you just have to do it,
And forget everything else,
Even if what you're doing takes 300 days,
You have to let go of yourself.

Forget your debts and forget your loved ones,
They have no place in what you have to get done,
And if they get in the way of making it happen,
You'll have ruined everyone.

And if they don't understand,
It's alright, because if you're true to the task,
Everything they say will go in one ear,
And be stored until you can take off your mask.

And it's alright,
They will thank you in the end,
Because, though you have missed 300 days together,
You have done everything for them.

Success Again

It all comes together,
With vision and faith.
And if it doesn't, well, I'd have to say,
That you lack vision, or maybe faith.

What is an event, but how you interpret it?
And success, based on what you want?
I'm not saying call what you hit the target,
But be creative in interpreting a lot.

The poor man's bane is that he hasn't much,
And the poor man's glory is that he wants for nothing,
A poor man has lots of room for success,
If he doesn't judge it by money.

And it's alright,
Magical things are happening in my life again,
Because of vision, faith, and interpretation,
The universe has become my haven.

Stages

How can one feel so bad,
When so much is going good?
Was it really just a bad dream,
Or are you not living as you should?

There is a point where it is too late to change,
When there are peoples' lives who are dependent,
On your actions in a life that's no longer yours,
If you really take possession of it.

But, thoughts cannot be stopped, and these tell you,
That you have bitten off more than you can chew,
That the world would be better off without,
The kind of world that you expose them to.

And it's alright,
That only means that you care,
Which is all that others really need from you,
And which, frankly, is really quite rare.

Sunday, February 04, 2007

Disjunction

I feel like someone's watching,
And that's probably because,
One cannot live a life without,
The possibility of applause.

And without turmoil to point to in this world,
To judge and wish it never occurred,
Some people would have to start turmoil themselves,
Or there'd be very little for them in this world.

But I am happy with the prospect of losing,
All the stress that this world generates,
Throught its need for conflict, which itself just distracts,
From how little, to our life, this world actually relates.

And it's alright,
If, in the end, we cannot escape,
From the structure built for us when we are born.
Actually, really, that isn't very great.

Saturday, February 03, 2007

Insecurity

I have nothing with me,
That I need for peace of mind,
Just like I left any hope of destroying the past,
I left my peace of mind behind.

It takes so little to crush a man,
The final straw can be a dropped note,
That everyone else knows is your onus,
But, will just sit and watch you slit your own throat.

You can be as strong as the strongest on earth,
And still not have enough strength,
To withstand the uncertainty in others' opinions,
Unless, in them, you put absolutely no faith.

And it's alright,
It's not easy being alone either, I know,
Maybe just sometimes find comfort in the knoweldge,
That other people don't really know any more.

Friday, February 02, 2007

Let Go

Okay, let's look at this logically,
You say you don't want us around anymore,
Which means you don't want us near your family either,
Because we we live by different mores.

Of course, we're family too, and let's not forget,
That you can always turn to us,
And if you're trying to protect your family from evil,
I think you better move to Mars.

But, you're also stressed and maybe that's the reason,
You're being so unreasonable,
And if you change your tune, all is forgiven,
But, if not, I think you're certifiable.

Yes, yes, it's alright,
Because, legally, you are family,
But if you keep keeping me from my own blood,
You'll find out how unlawful I can be.

Thursday, February 01, 2007

Self Worth

Do I undervalue myself?
Yes, I think I do.
Will that serve to undermine my quality of life,
And cause me anxiety, too?

One cannot always question himself,
Or what he has done in the past.
This might seem obvious to say, really,
But such thoughts have destroyed many a lad.

It will not continue, I promise you that,
If I am nothing, I am a learner.
It will be bittersweet when I look back on these days,
And realize what it is that I should have earned.

And it's alright,
I don't want to overvalue me either.
There needs to be somewhere to go from here,
That is realistic for me to enter.

Wednesday, January 31, 2007

Teeming

Thank god that time passes quickly,
And before you know it, you are old.
If I had to live any longer,
I would surely fold.

The future promises to demand certain acts,
That, when counted, are already a lot,
But can't possibly be the entire sum.
I'm already beat after what I have fought.

But, then again, I would not want to have nothing,
So, this may be a beef with life itself.
Who the fuck asked for me to be born at all?
Wasn't there anybody else?

And it's alright,
I'm not really that mad,
After it's done, I'm always happy,
And I always think it wasn't that bad.

Tuesday, January 30, 2007

Perserverence

Could this be the one?
I don't want to beat a dead horse,
But sometimes your mind can tell you something,
That you consistently ignore.

You can't get blood from a stone unless you hit someone with it,
And I'm afraid that might be what I need to do.
Which will mean that I'll have to meet someone,
Which will be harder on me than you.

Or I could just leave it all, I'm getting nothing,
For the effort that I have been putting in.
I know what you're thinking, but it's not what you think,
I'm just slowly losing locomotion.

And it's alright,
What is it all for anyway?
Five minutes of glory and a life of ball-busting.
I could get that from my family.

Monday, January 29, 2007

Message

This is definitely the end,
There is nothing left to say,
Unlike for some people who could talk forever,
I'm at a loss for words today.

And why not? Isn't a person defined,
By the things that he does and doesn't do?
And aren't those actions based on inclinations,
That can be described, too?

And why repeat? I've nothing to prove,
And no reason to want to bore you to death.
Of course, there's the notion that some people must speak,
One time for each and everyone on this earth.

Oh, it's alright,
I haven't even really figured out, yet,
What it is I want to be saying at all,
And have yet to convince every person I've met.

The Binge

This is not the time,
To be thinking of the little things,
Like how much you disgraced yourself,
After having a few drinks.

When you did things that you would never do,
But for the restraints of sobriety,
Not to say that you'd never thought of it,
But never as a member of society.

And the effects rage on, for now it's the morning,
Continue to relieve the inner police,
With commendations for sufficient restraint,
From completely undermining relief.

And it's alright,
Nothing really happens,
That one has to worry about, all's forgiven.
So, go out an do it again.

Saturday, January 27, 2007

Perfection

You are not what people think,
Nor what you think you are, yourself,
Actually, if you think you are definable,
You're just an inanimate toy on a shelf.

Think of any moment in your life,
And tell me one thing,
In retrospect, did you do exactly what you'dve liked?
'Cause, if you say 'yes', then you are lying.

Even your grandest moment of accolades,
When you are raised up high on shoulders,
You're up there because you overcame adversity,
Not because it's something that 'you' deserved.

And it's alright,
That is just the nature of the beast.
True perfection is impossible in life.
But, you've got it to strive for, at least.

Friday, January 26, 2007

Hope

Is it really as simple,
As believing it will all work out,
And seeing that it all works out,
Because, so far it's all worked out?

And just because everyday the sun has risen,
Should we believe that it will rise again?
Well, in that case, as in the one previous,
It doesn't help to believe it ain't.

So, go on living in the dreamworld that helps you,
Continue to live as if the past is a law,
And whenever something good comes your way,
Assume the gods dropped it for you, that's all.

And it's alright,
If nothing drops for you anytime soon,
It's not about what you have, but what one day you could,
That helps you get out of bed before noon.

Thursday, January 25, 2007

It Will Get Done

Time to reorganize,
Take a step back and see where I've been,
Look with the look of a thousand eyes,
And help erase this anxiety.

Anything can be done,
Anything can be done,
Especially with a thousand eyes,
Anything can be done.

Each moment holds the key to an eternity,
With a thousand eyes,
And with a world created in each one,
Everything will get done in time.

And it's alright,
Remember everything will get done,
You have the look of a thousand eyes,
And in the end, the day will be won.

The Superman

Have I hit rock bottom?
It's kind of hard to tell.
My body's aching and it is all dark down here,
But the notion's not a hard sell.

What is the protocol when everyone around you,
Feels that life's offering a loss?
If it's not a feeling of revolution,
Then dignity and happiness are the cost.

But there is someone who can rise above that,
With superhuman strength to see,
That no matter the technology that he doesn't have,
He has the right to be.

Then it's alright,
Because the only enemy he could have is himself,
And they are the bestest friends in the whole world,
Even if sometimes they get depressed.

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Pressure

Was that really a moment?
Even if it was, it doesn't matter,
Because the best bet on keeping the magic,
Is to allow it no future.

Except in the mind, where one can always escape.
One can even defy the elements,
If she needs to escape the harshness of this world.
The mind is heaven-sent.

I can't go on, the heaviness of everything,
Denies the possibility of freedom,
Like in a U-Boat at the bottom of the sea,
With no fuel left in its engine.

And it's alright,
Everybody floats back up eventually.
The questions is, will you be crushed by the pressure,
And never reach the person you wished to be?

Monday, January 22, 2007

Value

Why is it possible,
To work most of your life,
As a part of the structure of society,
And still live under the poverty line?

Is it illusion and the work isn't done,
And if you really want to you can survive?
I'm sure it is to a certain degree,
But you're still surviving under the poverty line.

And then the value of work is arbitrary,
Or at least not tied to its importance to us,
Just like the value of money's not tied to gold,
Not like that, in itself, is really genious.

Alright,
So humans assign value arbitrarily,
Which is one of the things that makes us unique,
Both as individuals and as societies.

Forever

Can I say I love you?
I could say it everyday of my life.
The more I do it, the less important it is.
Though, it's something I don't really advise.

Your smiles come so fast for absolutely nothing,
I hope that they never leave your face,
And get buried deep inside, to never come out,
Because you ultimately forget this place.

And your play, if it could only last forever,
My job will be done for you.
Not that that has gotten me very far.
Of course, I have yet to do all that I will do.

And it's alright,
If I have to support you until I die,
At least you'll have the memory to go to,
When you're wondering about the point of life.

Saturday, January 20, 2007

The End

I'm not saying that you,
Aren't what I've always wanted,
But sometimes when you get what you're asking for,
You wish you'd waited a jaunt.

I've nothing left to say, and no way to say it,
And no more combinations thereof,
So this will be my last attempt at,
Communication.

You need to show me more, and this is the answer,
To the puzzle that has left both our lives,
As barren as if we moved to the desert,
And clearcut everything besides.

And it's alright,
I won't be gone forever,
Just until I think of something to say,
That is not a repeat of whatever.

Development

So much is dependent,
On the moments of your youth.
Yet, you don't know who to seek out for guidance,
Or from whom to stay aloof.

There are so many sentences I should have been given,
At key points in my development.
They could have made all the difference in the world,
But, of course, I didn't.

Like, "last one up always gets the girl,"
Or, "it's not that hard to have fun and still do your work,"
"Good grades actually mean something for your future,"
"You're still young, so go and do something berserk."

And it's alright,
It's not like my life is filled with regrets,
At least, I've ended up someplace pretty cool,
Even if my youth could have had much more depth.

Death

I'm so very tired,
I don't think my body could ever catch up,
To what it needs to feel normal again,
While still continuing, as such.

Have you ever had a dream where you are driving,
Up a hill that is obviously too steep?
You get turned around and hopefully don't crash.
But, you should have known better, even in your sleep.

Well, I'm going to die now, so this may be the end,
Though words may still come from my unearthly voice,
Into this world and do more than they have,
For what's more moving than an undefined noise?

And it's alright,
Death can mean so many things.
It may only mean the death of all my dreams,
Which would be much less disturbing.

Sore Throat

This is not the time,
To pause for reflection.
The duties I've been given by virtue of this life,
Are waiting in anticipation.

Despite what might be happening in my real life,
The world demands my time outside of it,
To avoid changing circumstances in the former,
And leaving me not able to pay for it.

So where's the option outside of pure freedom,
Whether in the rich sense or in the sense of another,
Kind of structure where still not everyone's free,
Because someone needs to use the shovel?

And it's alright,
We're all distracted enough, anyway,
Not to notice the time demanded of us,
Nor, really, even to have the voice to say.

Overwhelming

Now that the dust has settled,
On everything that I own,
I imagine that they will be easier to deal with,
With atrophy in my bones.

Like a baby learning to crawl,
Falling off the bed and breaking his leg,
All the hard work has come to nothing at all,
And has become a heartbreaking tragedy.

But if it does, then all is for nothing,
For effort is the only thing I have.
So starting now, no matter what the circumstances,
I will do what I can.

And it's alright,
This has all happened in the past,
And I will get through, and just maybe this time,
The success will, for a long time, last.

Eternity

Well, it starts again, now,
Like it never has before,
Though, it is the same old thing over again,
My age is at least a little more.

The best things happen when you aren't expecting them,
This is because expectation devalues things,
And makes them terrible when they don't happen,
Even if the chances of it were near nothing.

Just hold on to love because it exists out of time,
And you never want anything to change.
The world could implode, and in the final moments,
That love will manufacture an eternity.

And it's alright,
Those moments could be an eternity of pain, I guess.
And who's to devalue such an emotion,
When its duration will have been no less?

Distraction

Here is the greatest test,
But, of course, that's a big line.
Who's to say what's the hardest thing,
Until they can say, "it's mine"?

There is so much going on,
Without wanting anyone to see,
And no silence to let thoughts be alone,
To say, "that's exclusively me."

But, that may be the most truthful,
To what reality is.
One can't filter all that comes in,
To say that all that's left is his.

And it's alright,
As long as he gets to the end,
To put it away for later,
And to say, "I can start again."

The Secret

It was getting hairy,
But it call came out in the wash,
While someone thinking that she knew the secret,
And my sanity getting lost.

What's so bad about being up a creek without a paddle,
If the current takes you where you want?
The water's only usually a couple feet deep,
You can always get out and walk.

So is it really all just about believing,
That it will work out, and suddenly it does?
I guess if by work out you mean whatever,
And by believing, you really don't care what's up.

And it's alright,
Lots of people have lived their life that way,
And I'm sure some of them ended up dying happy,
By some freakish impossibility.

Privacy

The images through my mind,
So strong, and yet sadly, unreal,
Haunt me at the times when they are most improbable,
Because she is so near.

That is too much, now they should wander again,
But isn't that just denying free thought?
If I thought anyone was privy to these,
I'd be far more tortured than not.

For what is thought, but the spigot for desire,
When desire must be safely unleashed?
Let my thought be subject to regulation,
And my thought would soon be deceased.

And it's alright,
There will always be thought without action.
Of course, there will also be action without thought,
Sprung from thought's natural reactions.

Wintry Night Walk

As I walked to the place,
That was left for me to retrieve,
The food that we would eat on that very night,
Something occurred to me.

With the cold just making it past my layers,
And the anger seeping out the other way,
And my eyes sifting through the carapaces of the women,
Not noticing me that day.

What is life, but just the determination,
To not let life ruin what you could feel,
If you could feel without the intrusion of the things,
That happens in life to make it feel real?

And it's alright,
I took the food home and it wasn't that great,
But by the end the anger had found it's place,
Among the many gifts I've received from fate.

Lucid Dreams

I have no more time now,
It's all been taken from me,
Just like the freedom to go where I please,
My bed and surrounding area's all that I see.

Except for excursions among other people,
But, those never seem to offer up much.
My abilities to share have never been strong,
And others' ability to care, just sucks.

At least there's loved ones close by from whom I get strength,
And to whom I can go to for pause,
From this life that's been ordained for everyone,
And ultimately ends in a net of loss.

And it's alright,
Disappointment for other people,
Seems to be what I've been best at lately,
And I see no cause to be more helpful.

Improve

The faith that nothing's happening,
That is not what should be,
Is perhaps the one most important thing,
To making people believe,

That nothing's accidental, but is anything?
The poorest laid plans sometimes work despite of them.
And when they don't, well, what can I say?
Somebody else had a different plan.

Ultimately, though, we all get what we want,
Whether we admit it or not.
We all whisper to the wind our greatest desires,
Though, what they are, most of us have forgot.

And it's alright,
Lose yourself and you'll sober up.
Whether by choice or the effects of time,
Reality's there whether you like it or not.

Time

Is there enough time to,
Do all you want to do?
Knowing's half the battle,
So, if you don't know, then you should soon.

Five minutes to get it done,
And a lifetime until it's perfect,
And if there's chaos, just sit back and relax,
That's the only way you will figure out it.

Or just surrender, for you already know,
What the ultimate end needs to be,
But if you don't know what direction it's in,
You'll have to trust to the wisdom of your body.

And it's alright,
Your body can mean so many things,
The point is there's so much you can never know,
But to which you can surrender your whole being.

News of the Day

There's nothing much new happening,
There's a scandal in the church,
A war is happening in ten different countries,
And all our poor are getting hurt.

There is a lot of hubbub about the air,
And in there air there is a lot of talk,
About how something drastic has to happen.
Isn't it a great time for the government to step up?

The government that has the people at heart,
Like in the Ukraine or in Sri Lanka.
Did I just make a political statement?
Because I sure didn't mean ta.

And it's alright,
We keep asking ourselves if things have really changed.
Technology sure promises to make things easier,
If it doesn't first help to destroy everything.

The Break

Here we go now, ready,
The road is paved and the engine's on,
The driving won't be easy, but if you concentrate,
It's hard not to get to your destination.

The wind's behind us, people on the side are cheering,
Nobody's going to stand in your way,
Except those who love you, who don't want you to go,
But you will be back one day.

With more than you have and more than you would,
If you just stayed here, getting what you could.
And if you ever think staying here was a better idea,
Then you probably should.

And it's alright,
Whatever you do in the end,
No one ultimately cares if it's you,
They just need anybody to send.

Maturation

Well, I think it's happened,
And there is no turning back,
Unless you want to return to your old life,
But I don't think you want that.

From now on it's hard work and you can't avoid it,
Until it becomes second nature,
And you are simply going through the motions,
Then it's time, again, to get more mature.

And this is what it means to become more human,
It's the one thing that's not sad but true.
Even if you're a fat cat, you can't be said to be living,
Unless there's something living inside of you.

And it's alright,
Sometimes you'll still be all dead inside,
That's just like a night in the folds of a dream,
Or the moments in the neap of a tide.

Longevity

The true colours are coming,
Out of the exacting honesty of life,
Unless fate can be changed and concentration can,
Readjust the lack of concentration with which I'm rife.

Hardwires can be reorganized, I think,
But does that require the knowledge of how,
It is that they ever got to where they were in the first place,
And if they changed to be what they are now?

Some people seem to have it all together.
And success and happiness exceeds money.
That was a statement in itself. I'm aware.
Is this a turning point for where I might be?

And it's alright,
You can't move until you're happy where you are,
Until then, you're just caught in the quagmire of self-pity,
And that state doesn't allow you to go far.

It's About Time

Rummaging through the stuff,
Of a lacklustre past,
One finds so many potential moments,
And almost valuable artifacts.

And put together in just the right set,
The trash quickly turns into a treasure.
The worthlessness you now recognize in my rearing,
Gets a new light as I amass my future.

Forget the dinner, there so much more that I,
Can give you, once it all makes sense to others,
And people line up just to understand where they,
Fit amongst the shit piled up from years of torture.

And it's alright,
If this is not the gem of the pile,
The best things are not made up of the best things,
And everything good's worth waiting for a while.

Withstanding

The communication I expect,
To flow from my brain right through my heart,
Is all that's left to shape the things as they are,
Because all else aren't.

And though the way out doesn't seem obvious,
Things will work out, as they always have,
And not even my belief that belief undermines events,
Will undermine my ultimate repeating of the past.

Defeat's not an option, even if I lose,
My stance must ensure that immediately,
Another road of unbelievable riches,
Is opened up to me.

And it's alright,
If I am bruised, but not if I don't win,
That might have been acceptable in the past,
But now I must think of my future generations.

Happy New Year

Well, it is the new year,
And I entered it a failure,
In one thing, but that one thing became so big,
It obfuscated all my other allure.

Though, maybe this is just what the doctor ordered,
For all my other new years came with a bang,
And though the year that followed never quite sucked,
The most amazing thing in the world never came.

Oh wait, I was married and had a baby boy,
Got a job with lots of responsibility.
Of course those are all in the realm of the expected.
What about being propped above the rest of humanity?

And it's alright,
If your time never quite comes.
Part of life is that anticipation,
That is destroyed upon that elevation.
