Burdens

If you have a heavy burden,
Just remember that one day,
You will either be able to let go of it,
Or build the strength, so it's okay.

And while it's heavy it's good to think about,
The fact that if it wasn't important,
Enough to warrant sacrificing yourself,
You wouldn't even be carrying it.

And in those moments when you feel it must drop,
Or you will have to stop in your tracks,
Just sit down and smell the roses.
Recuperation comes when you just relax.

And it's alright,
If you decide to just leave it behind.
Your body would never let you let go of,
Something that keeps your peace of mind.

Opinions

What is it this time?
Is there something missing,
That you can't find with some self-reflection,
And some heavy drinking?

I think the problem is you don't understand,
That to be happy now means to be happy now,
Not as if it's all that easy, really.
What's it like to be happy, anyhow?

Well, it means you're not caring so much about people,
Or rather, about what people might think.
It's been written before, but that's my opinion.
Reality and perception don't share a link.

And it's alright,
If you have to know what other people say,
And if you run your life according to that-
Well, it's your life at the end of the day.

Rolling

There is never any guarantee,
That anything will last.
I have to remind myself because,
Nothing yet's changed from the past.

And if I lose it all there will certainly be things,
That I won't miss,
But damn, if the universe stops surprising me,
It better replace it with some tenderness,

The kind that makes you feel that you're taken care of,
Because right now I'm relying on the faith,
That what I need will come to me,
And, so far, that's always been the case.

And it's alright,
I guess if everything changes,
I'll still be the guy that takes it as it comes,
You know, you how is you came is.

Countdown

You can only move forward,
Even if it's back,
Goddam it, even when you're going forward,
There's shit that you lack.

I guess that's motion when you couple it with,
The fact it can't last forever.
How many times can do the same thing,
Before you die without a future?

Not to be prescriptive, but do what you like,
Before you're too old to do it,
And not just that, but don't not do other things,
Because you think that they'll never fit.

It's alright,
There is plenty of time,
To do everything you've ever wanted,
Even if it's only in your mind.

Offend Me

It is almost over,
I don't even have to think.
But, if I don't I'll have a hell of a time,
When I make it to the brink,

Of all bullshit that is left over,
From the bullshit of everyone else,
And if you think I'm talking about you,
You better take a look at yourself,

And at the reasons you come up with,
For feelings you would have anyway.
What, 'you can't give, you can only take offence?'
Well fuck you very much, and have a nice day.

And it's alright,
You'll never offend me,
Unless you put in to question my decisions,
Because I never make them with any certainty.

I think we all have dreams,
Whether we like it or not,
And whether what we dream is what we want,
Or whether we have a shot.

Last night I had a dream I'll never forget,
Because my anger overcame me.
I was screaming about how people become assholes,
When it comes to money.

And when it comes to money, I would love it,
If it all came to me.
I would take a match and with one strike,
Create inatant equality.

And it's alright,
I don't really think it'd be that easy,
To destroy that much cash,
I'd probably need some gasoline.

Just Living

Just a little closer,
And the line will be crossed,
Though, I don't know if that's what I want to happen,
Because with it comes a cost,

Like, maybe, what about relationships?
They will never be the same,
And I'm not just talking about the ones I'd lose,
But the ones that would remain,

And that would be tried by what I had to do,
To be where I am today.
Though, what I had to do was be myself,
And I couldn't have been any other way.

And it's alright,
It can't end up any other way,
Than how it will, because I refuse to be,
Other than what I am today.

Revolution

There's so much in the world,
To keep you occupied,
It's better to consolidate them,
To give substance to your life.

Imagine all the things you do that are unrelated,
And the energy expended on them.
Do they help inform people who are,
Or are they an hindrance?

It's like part of society's agenda,
Is to blur the line between its components,
To somehow safeguard itself from fragmentation.
But, I think, it underestimates humans.

But it's alright,
The human spirit can prevail,
But not by bloody revolution.
That's just another way it makes sure we fail.

Learning Curve

I don't want to have to do it,
But I guess if I must, I will,
I only wish it was not such a one-sided test,
And that the other might be killed.

I guess part of the trial rests in my need,
Within my heart for things to even out,
Instinctively- or maybe I was brought up,
To lower myself to mediocrity.

So I hope we can get through this together,
And that each one of us acheive a new height,
For if not, then my experience will change,
And will not be one of communion, but of might.

And it's alright,
I'll do what I have to do.
And maybe deep in my heart I hope I get to destroy,
Just to experience something new.

Non-Stop Train

There are non-stop trains,
That go just about anywhere,
That pick you up when you don't really expect it,
To places you otherwise wouldn't dare.

And what's the best way to deal with that?
Well, first off, don't let it destroy your patience,
And the good times you would have had anyway,
In the time before you reach the station.

And try to be as pleasant as possible,
Because you never know if who you're sitting with,
Will be sitting with you again,
When you find yourself on another trip.

And it's alright,
The only way you ever get anywhere,
Is when you take these journeys and you can't turn back.
Nothing great was ever done without necessity there.

It's Not Over

It is getting harder,
Everyday.
With everything that happens in a life,
Shouldn't there be something to say?

Or is there really a point where you may as well,
Have done everything there is to do,
Because the scope of emotions is limited,
And experience can't create any new?

I guess you'll never know until it's over,
And even then, you may not have done everything,
There was to do to expand your horizons,
And make life more interesting.

Oh, it's alright,
Even this depression offers new insight,
Into the fact that no matter how good things are,
Nothing is ever exactly right.

Monday, June 25, 2007

Boxing

Just because you can't do something,
Doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.
You may as well blindfold yourself,
And be carried by life's current.

Demands are often, but of so little import,
You could do them well and never be noticed,
Not that recognition's the ultimate ends,
But, do you think disappearing is?

Of course, if everyone did that, then no one would have time,
To notice each other at all.
If everyone jumped off a bridge,
Who'd make the 911 call?

And it's alright,
If the two don't really connect,
Maybe you'll stop and think of me for a moment,
I think I just thought of you for a sec.

Full Hands

There is no more to say,
So why does it go on?
To say it again in today's language?
But if we stopped talking, language would have no evolution.

And one could always just refer to the truth,
That is found within every age,
That when stripped of all meaning,
Is expressed in the exact same way,

And just understood when you are a certain age,
And everything is drenched with wonder,
And you may as well be speaking in the queen's english,
Or with a clap of thunder.

And it's alright,
I can't say anything right now.
I'm holding a small life in one hand,
Who knows all of this, anyhow.

Stand Up

You can withstand a lot of opposition,
Even the kind that puts you against,
Very powerful antagonists,
If you are willing to resist.

Strength's not in strength but in the belief in it,
And the willingness to put mouths to the test.
Most vocal people use their voice as their fist,
And never have to exercise the rest,

Of their defenses, namely the physical back-up,
To their threats. Am I being redundant?
I know it's hard, but you must be willing to fight,
For your right to be existant.

And it's alright,
If you have to put your money where mouth is,
What good is life if you can't challenge it,
And show it that you exist.?

The Chaotic Realm

Somewhere in between,
What you think and what you know,
Is an uncertain realm of floating images,
Where you don't want to go,

Not because it may be dangerous to do so,
But because, frankly, it's easy.
It demands the loss of all that you are,
Which begs the question: "once you're there, who'll you be?"

But, it's good to remember its existence,
The fear of which keeps you aware of life,
And the ultimate choice it demands of you:
Would you rather live, or would you rather die?

And it's alright,
You don't have to decide right now,
In fact that's something you need never decide.
No matter what, you have no choice anyhow.

Just Do It

When there is a lot to do,
And you don't have the time,
Just do one thing after another,
Because you might be surprised,

At what you get done because the trick with tasks,
Is that duration only exists,
When you sit back and wonder at the obstacle,
At which point, of course, you're not doing it.

And when you're lost in the job, doing your thing,
You'll be away much less,
Than during the agony of procrastination.
Have I nagged enough, yet?

And it's alright,
You don't have to do anything,
That's what separates children from adults.
That, and the underdeveloped thinking.

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Getting It Right

That may be all,
That is left to talk about,
And time is running out anyway,
And all that's left is doubt,

About how things will end up, though there's always reason,
To be unsure of that.
What changes is not really circumstances,
But your ability to ignore facts,

At all times, because they can tell you nothing,
Unless you know their true connection,
To each other, and no one really does,
Even if they're masters of chemical reactions.

And it's alright,
If you only live as if you don't know,
It's better than living as if you do,
'Cause, ultimately, you don't.

Time To Go

I don't want to coast through life,
I want to do all of the things,
People say aren't wise, not because they aren't,
But because they're not about money.

I want to fill life to the brim with risk,
Not the type that actually threatens life,
But the type without which no one ever,
Can actually have a chance at greater heights.

I don't want to be sitting idle for long,
Though, I know that's needed at different times,
To remember why you do anything at all,
And to give perspective to the highs.

And it's alright,
If the risks don't always work out,
You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket,
You can't live your dreams without conquering doubt.

Perfection

Nothing has really struck me,
Like the way that life just,
Keeps on trucking, but I guess to be life,
It must.

And thanks to stages I can look back on it,
And thanks to stages I can look forward, too,
And either way I look, it seems to me,
That it's always been about finding you,

Whether it's in life, or just in things I see,
The layers you've added make it seem,
Like my own existence has doubled by triples,
And I don't even need to know what that means.

It's so alright,
I really couldn't ask for more,
Because I know I have so much more coming to me.
Finding out more about you's what life is for.

Happy Father's Day to Me

Yes I am a father,
'And, what does that mean?', you ask?
Well, how I act is affecting someone who,
Won't follow anyone else's back.

If I'm happy, he is happy, too,
And if I'm angry, he won't understand.
The more time I spend with him, the more he'll grow up,
To be just like I am,

I think, because you never know how someone will be,
And that's part of the risk and fear of raisin',
A whole other person, though connected by genes,
Is a completely individual person.

And it's alright,
He's still the greatest thing that's happened to me,
And one day he'll be old enough to tell me himself,
Whether I was good at parenting.

Saturday, June 16, 2007

Jump

Go ahead and jump,
There's a lot to celebrate!
How about the fact that you're alive,
And that your life couldn't be more great?

Let's see, you have all of your limbs in tact,
And people are looking out for you everyday,
You were born in relative freedom,
And if you want to be something, well you may.

If you want to jump all day, that's alright,
In fact, it may be something I might prefer,
So that I could persue my non-jumping endeavours,
Like, thinking about the fact I'm a father.

And it's alright,
If you want to stop,
I'll be there for you, jump or run,
On my list of things, you'll always be top.

Never Give Up Hope

It's not that reassuring,
When all your hope must rest,
Within the bounds prescribed by salary.
Though hope needs some boundaries, I guess.

Like, don't hope outside your class because reality,
Demands you be realistic,
And though some people jump over that wall,
They're rarely respected for it.

And never, never try to excel in an art,
That hasn't been recognized as of yet,
Because the only people to benefit from that,
Are those to copy you after you're dead.

Hey, it's alright,
Hope's not the greatest thing since sliced bread,
Money is, and if you get enough of that,
You'll have fulfilled the hopes of many humans.

Clocks

Clocks can be your enemy,
Or, at least, what they represent,
And when you've done all that you need to do,
Well, then they can be your friend.

They're great to look at when you need time,
To just stop until you catch your thoughts,
But, if you ever want something to sympathize,
Don't look to clocks.

Really, that's the only thing that separates us.
Without our feelings, we would only mark time.
Sure, we may make more noise, and a clock will never make a human,
But we're all born, take up space, and then we die.

And it's alright,
If you keep no clocks,
There will always be one counting down the time.
Until they put you in that ol' pine box.

Knocking

There is not much time now,
Though, I'm sure I've said that before,
And it's not like opportunities will stretch themselves out,
So that life always presents the same door.

Not to say that it will be the last,
If you were stuck in the same room all your life,
You may as well be dead, unless it's a choice.
'Cause keeping doors closed can sometimes be nice,

And solitude, too, if you're that type of soul,
That needs no one, no way, no how,
And needs no recognition from no one but yourself.
Though, I don't see how that's possible, right now.

And it's alright,
If the door doesn't lead where you thought it would,
If life was as all predictable as that,
There'd be no rooms, doors, woulds, shoulds or coulds.

Fire

Fire is mesmerizing,
It has no stable body,
While suffusing its light on everything,
Like a ghost, it haunts me.

It is itself but cannot live alone,
A great power that needs its energy,
From something from which it can suck life,
That kind of sounds like some people I've seen,

With the exception that fire has no ill-intent.
Though its beauty makes me forget,
All the times it's burned me in the past,
And that reminds me of some people I've met.

And it's alright,
If I never get close enough,
To see the world as fire does,
Because of my fear of being turned off.

Happiness

Life is so perfect,
What more could you want from it?
It's got everything you need for success,
While making you feel like you deserve it.

Every moment offers you a choice,
While giving you the powers,
Of instinct to free up some of your time,
For planning some future hours.

And happiness isn't even tied,
To the circumstances you are in,
Just like they say, 'money can't buy it,'
Neither can poverty cause its destruction.

Though, it's alright,
If money wants to rain down on me,
Really, it's the only thing that offers freedom,
Unless you are completely insane.

Daily Thoughts

I am so very sorry,
Though, my intentions were good,
Though, again, in every sentence,
There is a skosh of truth.

And I hope that you don’t hear,
What it is I actually said,
Though, I might have to tell you, myself,
Just to curtail someone else telling instead,

And that, just to make sure you,
Understand my true feelings,
And that sometimes I say things with the purest intentions,
That from most sides seem to be just mean.

And it’s alright,
You can do the same to me,
And I will laugh, though I’ll also understand,
That somewhere in there is honesty.

Justice

Social consciousness is important,
And fairness for all.
So does that start with the government,
Or individual people?

One person can do little,
And it's hard to find one goal for many,
That does not become so fascist,
So as not to change anything.

And the government's already,
Of a mind that doesn't want to change,
For the destruction of oneself,
Who would want to arrange?

Yes, yes, it's alright,
I know, it's not this easy,
Or fatalistic, but if you have the answer,
Please, why don't you tell me?

Reaching You

Sometimes, it may be hard,
To acclimatize yourself,
To the life of another person,
Because they really are someone else,

And how can you truly know what they think,
The way that you know what are in your thoughts?
Not to say that one really knows all about oneself,
But, at least you know which things you do not,

Like your dreams, which are perhaps the most important,
And then, how you will attain them,
Well, maybe the dreams don't really mean that much.
Different dreams can be found from the same method.

Is this alright?
Am I really making sense?
I guess I am, if we're speaking the same language.
Oh wait, I just said something different in the last sentence.

Thursday, June 07, 2007

Keep On Trucking

Have you ever forced yourself,
To do something you don't want to?
Because, I think it's good for your character,
When it's something you don't have to do,

To think back on and consider this:
That, at the very least, it's something that,
Provides you a secret formation of self.
Regardless of what people take as fact.

Of course, one might consider everything that she does,
As against her ultimate will,
Because society makes demands on us,
That are completely unnatural.

And it's alright,
If you truly feel that way.
You're right from many different perspectives.
Just don't lose yourself forgetting it's still you getting through the day.

Welcome Back

I really like change,
Even when things are going well,
Though, in the end it makes life go by faster,
It also makes me feel like it's more than just a shell,

Protecting a soul until it can quietly slip out,
Disturbing the least amount of people possible.
I want my soul to dash around like a pinball,
And make every shell it hits roll like a ball.

And on the horizon I see a great change,
With the arrival of a big part,
Of my second half. I feel our lives will be provided,
A new expression of our individual arts.

And it's alright,
If everything seems to stay the same,
We can't but help to see the world differently,
Or to, even slightly, readjust our aim.

Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Oops

Sometimes you make mistakes,
And by you, I mean everyone.
Actually, I mean just me,
In this particular situation.

And I'll admit it but will I be,
The one who pays for the consequences?
I hope it is or I'll be constantly looking,
For my final come-uppances.

And I'll be more careful in the future,
Though, I know I'll make a mistake again,
Just like you will, well maybe not,
If you can help from making a decision.

And it's alright,
I won't hold it against you,
Though, please, try to hold it against me,
Or I won't know what to do.

Getting It

I have never been one to read people,
I've gotten by with obliviousness,
And a deep assumption that people,
Generally mean best.

But I have also missed out on opportunities,
Not catching the nuance,
Of a phrase or look, I guess it's what's helped make me.
And would I really want to take the chance,

Of trusting what I think I know about,
Where I should be, or isn't it best,
To let nature take its place, like it always has?
I think time has been the test.

And it's alright,
If I've missed out on things that I think,
Would have been great, because you really never can tell,
The true meaning of a poke or a wink.

Sunday, June 03, 2007

Take It Easy

Just when you think it's over,
It starts up again.
And thank god for that, because without drama,
Life would have no ends.

But remember that you must just,
Take things as they come,
And be a spectator, or else you'll forget,
Life's true mission,

Which is to observe and digest.
Not to say it's that dry.
Of course, it's good to get caught up in it,
Just think about it before you die:

That it's alright,
If it throws a curve ball now and then.
But it's only a curve ball from a certain perspective,
And figuring that out's the true mission.

Straight Talk

Sometimes there are those moments,
When you are not allowed to say,
Something that in another time and place,
Would be absolutely okay,

Like, 'cut the cheese', or maybe, 'let's have a gay old time',
Or, 'I believe in the right to choose',
Yes, words can hit as hard as a fist,
Or they can help you tie your own noose,

Or raise you up head and shoulders above.
Like nothing else that exists,
The voiced vibrations you send into the world,
Can produce a whole new brand of ists.

So be careful, alright,
When you have your finger on the pulse of the world,
To use your power for honorable things.
You can't walk a straight path talking in circles.

I'm Not Lonely

Could I ever make it,
Truly alone?
I think if I was, from this point on,
I don't know.

There is so much that one does,
For the esteem of others,
And with the of help others, too,
Things otherwise not bothered,

Like records and attempts to break them.
In solitude, one's broken with every move,
And only celebrated if it's acknowledged,
That it's a record you may one day lose.

And it's alright,
All this talk of being alone is a lie,
First, because I must surely be talking to someone,
And, also, being with someone doesn't mean they're nearby.

Nice Talking to You

I'm sure I don't have it right,
Especially since I'm really not talking about it,
Though, in a loose way I might point out to you,
Where I think things do not fit.

Like when the point is not to say anything,
But to leave everyone in an state of awe,
Or, I guess, stuttering because all you can hope for,
Is non-action from being slack-jawed.

But, there you go, I knew that there was something,
Because there really is an end in view,
And that is for everyone to suspend judgement,
And to spend their time listening to you.

And it would be alright,
If that actually happened.
But don't tell me that you're not passing judgement,
Or that you don't really have any ends.

Climbing the Ladder

You must be really happy,
About where you are.
I'm not really saying that as an observation,
But as an order.

'Cause if you're not- well actually,
Do I really give an damn?
The less happy people there are in the world,
The closer to success I am.

Happiness draws people to you,
And you can't have success in a vacuum.
You need others to prop you up on their shoulders,
And place you up among the few.

And it's alright,
If you have to prop others up in turn,
You'll never have as much weight as the people below you,
Which gives you much more energy to learn.

The Jones'

Isn't it much better,
To do with what you've got,
Instead of living with what you don't,
And owing a lot?

Well, maybe not because you only live once,
And you can't take it with you when you die.
As long as you kick the bucket before,
Your debtors finally ask you to rectify.

F money, I agree, it's not natural,
But, to do that, it's best not to get tied up,
In it, if you really want to screw it,
It's best to not over-fill your cup.

To make it all right,
It's actually best to focus on nothing else,
Until you get to a point where you don't have to think about it at all,
And you can finally think about yourself.

Remember You

It doesn't take long,
To feel like life is passing you by,
Or to feel like it's the best in the world,
Or to get a new lease on life.

Imagine you were just thrown into,
The circumstances that you are in now,
But that you are actually the most powerful person in the world.
You'd be able to change things somehow.

Or would you, yes you would, there's always something,
That would bring you closer to,
The person you always thought that you were,
That is somewhere deep inside you.

And it's not alright,
If that person never comes out.
How many chances do you think you have,
At wringing all you can of this life out?

How to Pick a Heart

Potatoes stay a long time,
You can eat them, even if they get soft,
Just tear their long eyes out and boil them good,
Then fry them up until they're hard enough.

Zucchini's different, I would leave them alone,
If they're so soft that they're actually mushy.
I couldn't tell you how they taste in that state,
So, if you know, why don't you tell me?

But really, both potatoes and zucchinis,
Should be firm and fresh when you eat them,
And if you think I'm saying the same thing about the heart,
Well, you know, I guess I am.

And it's alright,
If your heart's lost some of its firmness,
Unlike vegetables, it can be refreshed,
With a little rest and tenderness.

Space Filler

I guess you don't always have,
To have something to say.
Sometimes you can just talk and talk,
And talk and talk and talk all day.

From wanting someone to understand you,
And finding more complex ways to do it,
With your voice instead of pointing at things,
To just making noise to point out you exist.

What goes through your mind when you're doing that?
Well, I'll tell you 'cause it's quite something,
A perfect unity within your body,
Of mind and soul and obliviouty.

And it's alright,
If you use words that don't exist,
When you're just talking for the sake of it,
You may as well create something while you're at it.

Outside of This

Though this is not the same,
As the ones that came before,
Amidst this difference there's a project underway,
That looks alike much more.

And will it be revealed? Well, I don't think so,
Because, then, questions start to make it different,
And right now it should just be what it is,
Without other minds trying to mould it.

Also, growth can be stunted by expectation,
Especially because no one can know,
What something's meant to be, and thinking you do,
Can make it be used for what it was never meant for.

And it's not alright,
If this time it never grows up.
At this age you'd think I could get something done.
I'm no longer a little pup.

If I Were a Telephone Conduit

I wish I was a conduit,
The kind, like for a telephone,
From which many extension come from,
In somebody's home.

That I can sit there day and night and no one notice,
How, through me, their world rapidly flies,
Slowly, slowly I change with no avoidance,
Of the reality that I'll eventually die,

At which moment my death will not be obvious,
As I'll let out no screams or final farewell.
Only by a search for the termination of movement,
Will they ever be able to tell.

And it will be alright,
Once they bring me back to life,
And I am once again a conduit for their life,
I will, at the same time, have a meaning to mine.

Change

I am not afraid,
To talk of the dark moments,
When, despite all the successes you might have in life,
It all seems a disappointment.

When the cloud that always hovers on the horizon,
Pulls you to the edge of the earth,
Because no matter how much you think you know,
That knowledge ultimately has no worth.

Because no matter what you have in this world,
It can be taken in the blink of an eye.
In that darkness before your lids lift again,
Nothing exists except 'why'.

But it's alright,
Even if everything changes in a flash,
Whether it's good or bad is not guaranteed.
Nor is there any guarantee it will last.

Picking a Moment

I don't want to focus,
On a particular,
As if it held the key to all I need.
I'd rather not have to go that far.

'But then,' you say, 'nothing is said at all,
When pointing at nothing with nothing.
If you want to make sense of what you see,
You must, for example, use something.'

So there you go, space and time has gone,
And no real noun can really be found,
To be receptive of a positive word.
And, yet, I feel as if we've both come around,

To be alright.
Though, I may be wrong this time.
Are we on the same page, or have I managed again,
To write one that could only ever be mine?

Morning Joy

What can I tell you,
That you will understand?
You look at me and speak in grunts and 'baa's,
Just like a man.

And when I hold you, you seem most content,
That's when there's no need to say anything at all,
Yet there you go with some 'maa's and a long, low tone,
As if you were ten feet tall.

And then the silence, and the knowing smile,
Just before you show me something new you've learned,
As simple as sitting up by yourself.
I'm delighted by each new turn.

And it's alright,
That we will understand each other soon,
Really, we'll just be changing the language we use,
And not the tune.

Heaven's Scent

Where it is you end up,
Is not the end.
Just like you will never fulfill your dreams,
Because they change as soon as you get them.

And when you stop, well you have stopped living,
Because life is movement itself.
Don't tell me there's nothing worth living for,
If you're alive enough to tell.

Just the scent of something, like say a rose,
Is communication with life.
So go out and smell something to try to remember,
That angst's aroma is actually quite nice.

Ah, it's alright,
No, it's even better than that.
Every moment on this earth is a gift,
And every smell is an intimate act.

Past Regrets

What is it other people,
Really think about what you've done?
Even if you ask them, no matter what they say,
There's room for suspicion.

And you can't escape wanting to paint everything,
With the same brush that you always do,
So if you think something you've done is embarassing,
You think that they think that about you, too.

So, without changing who you are, what is more stressful,
To assume the worst, or give the benefit of the doubt?
I say the latter, because trying to connect with others,
Is what life is all about.

And it's alright,
To still cringe when you think of something from the past,
Just as long as you can still smile afterwards,
When you think in what light by others it's also cast.

I AM Blessed

You're right, I'm very lucky,
I have a lot going for me right now,
My wife IS great, and my son IS perfect,
And I'll say it out loud.

F superstition and jinxing it all,
When something is, it doesn't kill it,
To celebrate it. Why not be loud and proud,
At least for one moment?

And even if I were to lose it all this moment-
Well, I don't really want to think about that.
For that to happen, all life'd need to be sucked out of me,
Because I'd fight for them until I loved our cats.

And it's alright,
If I lost every limb,
My luck is not in what I can lose,
But in the love I get from her and him.

Obituary

I first thought that it was Geri,
Halliwell that died, and not Falwell,
And I was sad because she is so young.
Thank god she is still feeling well.

And then I realized the state of actual things,
In my mind when I think of the world,
And how it quickly changes to the general,
Before I can make a comment on particulars.

Maybe that is a good thing, though it makes it difficult,
In conversations when the facts are all floating,
Vaguely around without concretness to any truth,
Except that they don't really mean anything.

But it's alright,
Everyone gets by the best that they can,
Some by singing and giving to the poor,
Others by denouncing public schools as the tool of satan.

You Have Arrived

I've seen many people,
And I've seen a different life for every person I've seen,
Sometimes I think that some of those lives should be switched,
And that some people should never have been.

And then there are events in my life,
That I used to regret,
That seemed to me to have been done by someone else,
That would constantly roll around in my head.

And don't get me started on what I should be doing,
I've often thought I should be somewhere else,
And that if everyone was who they should be,
I'd finally be rewarded for being myself.

But it's alright,
Eventually, you have to confess,
That where you are is the best place you could be,
And getting there required everything else.

I'm Getting Wet

How quickly things can change,
Like the rain on a sunny day,
Like the emotions in a small space,
Nobody wants to live this way.

But that is life, just look at anything,
How long do you think it will stay like that?
Part of being healthy is going with the flow,
And not getting caught up in facts.

And escaping for moments at a time,
And releasing the spigot in your mind.
But don't let it flow out in the wrong company,
Unless you really want to change your life.

And it's alright,
If you have to step out in the rain sometimes,
You may get wet, but you'll be brought back to nature,
And be reminded of your love of sunshine.

Another Work Week

My head is all cloudy,
My body is tired,
The world is calling me to start another week of work,
To both remain and maintain buyers.

And sitting beside me is this cat,
Who, last I checked, eats, sleeps and... well that's it.
I think the Man is laughing at me right now.
I bet he never hoped it'd get to this shit.

Of course, this is only a momentary lapse,
'Cause, once I get going everything will seem great,
Partly because I hope that in the end,
I will have enough cash to recuperate.

And it's alright,
It's the precious moments that make it good.
Like when my son smiles when I finally get home,
With enough time to play with him and down some food.

Happy Mother's Day

There is nothing more pure,
Than what you have done for me,
By creating, teaching and protecting,
And then setting me free.

Of all the connections I have to all others,
The one I have with you is a reminder,
That unselfishness and love actually exist.
And what makes me look for it in others.

I would do anything for you, just as you did for me.
If I had to, I would give up everything,
Just like you did to make sure that I grew up,
With confidence, in health and with opportunities.

And you're alright,
Even if I might make you mad sometimes,
Ultimately, mum, I'm your greatest champion,
And you will always be mine.

Don't Take the Time to Read This

There is no time at all,
Which is nothing new or bad.
Each moment is filled with the joy of just living,
And each one could be your last.

A wasted moment doesn't exist at all.
Waste only exists within its existence,
And if you don't take the time to acknowledge that,
Well, 'waste' might be relevant.

But, within reality, each moment is precious,
Not just because it ensures your continuance,
But because it's the only proof you have of the world,
In which you live.

And it's alright,
If you forget that sometimes,
That forgetfulness is important too for the realization,
Of the preciousness of the rest of the time.

Life Offers No Certainty

On one side there's so much,
I wish I could have done,
While just ahead of me, if I had done them,
I wouldn't get to do what's to come.

And in a moment everything can change,
Though the person dealing with it won't.
Oops, I think something just happened and I'll never know,
If what I thought I do do, now I don't.

Forget the past, it gives you no clue,
And the future will never be known.
Right now is something so unconceivable.
Is this making you feel alone?

Oh, it's alright,
These are not new thoughts,
But often forgotten amongst our dreams,
Though they should actually be thought of a lot.

The Secret to Life

I am feeling sick now,
And, in fact, a little tired,
But like anything else in this life,
It's only a temporary chink in my armor,

For unless time is taken to adjust,
And tighten every cinch that has loosened,
Eventually exposure will occur,
For no reason other than not being diligent.

I guess the lesson is to add that stitch in time,
Not that a lesson always need be had.
Maybe inertia will eliminate the need for adjustment,
Until your joints ossify. I guess that's not bad.

And it's alright,
I'll tell you life's secret,
As long as there is room in the next line,
And I don't waste it.

My Millions

I have never felt better,
Though, those are high-falutin' words.
The air is fresh and I want for nothing,
Except, of course, a billionaire's coffers.

I am healthy and so is my family,
And we lack for nothing.
We relax together under the evening sky.
If only our bank account was teeming.

We smile and joke and enjoy tootling around,
We count ourselves lucky for finding each other.
We spend our days separately, but enjoyably,
Just give us a fortune for rainy weather.

And it's alright,
That half our time we think of money.
That's what this world is ultimately about,
And what helps us appreciate other things.

Sculpturing Your World

Life gets so much better,
With the adjustment of the mind,
Just as in one moment actions can be interpreted,
As both selfish and kind.

But the mind can't feed you or protect you from rain,
Though, yes, the insane can accomplish amazing things.
I guess my point is at some point reality,
Is either abandoned or begins infiltrating.

So the trick is to make reality shape,
Itself to what you have in your mind.
So is it luck or incredible strength
To make this happen, that one must find?

It's alright,
Yes, only time will tell,
But, it is time that you can interpret as you like,
Until you figure out how to manufacture the celestial.

I'm Not Sad

Usually the sadder I sound,
The happier I tend to be,
For, what better vantage point of something,
Than from a little ways away?

But now I'm lying for that's not always true,
And my words are real reflections of my thoughts
And feelings at the time that they come out,
But they're usually gone as quickly as they're sought.

And, again, I'm not sure if this is all truth.
Sometimes, I am sad as can be.
Though that is rarely because of circumstances,
And, to be honest, it's when I feel truly free.

And it's alright,
I really am a happy guy.
Even in joy I tend to sound all depressed.
It's just how I express my life.

Sunday, May 06, 2007

With You

I hope your anxiety,
Is found out soon,
And that it is more a state of mind,
Than a state of a world ruined.

I will be with you from beginning to end,
Unless my presence makes things even worse,
In which case we will go our separate ways,
Though, then, my own state I surely will curse.

But, if not, then we will face it together,
And go across the ocean if we have to,
To clear your mind of all that has cause the unrest.
I would cross fire for you.

And it's alright,
If it takes a lifetime to figure out,
Though that would suck, we'll have a lifetime of hope,
And that is better than a lifetime of doubt.

Life's Causes

I could not be much sadder,
While having so much.
Could it be that the more you have,
Life also gets more tough?

Now I could not be much happier,
For what more could I want?
Do the circumstances run the emotions,
Or are the reasons for feelings simply sought?

I'm all alone now in my lonely thoughts,
And I wish I had it all back,
For it's when your perspective is changed,
That you can see things as fact.

And it's alright,
I am distracted through all this,
My son has just discovered how to sit and play,
And that's something I can't miss.

Being Realistic

When do you know you are,
Where you ought to be?
Well, when you acknoweldge where it is you are.
And you're standing beside me.

Nothing in this world assures you things are right,
And there are always things testing your faith,
But turn to me and I will swear to the world,
That we have it made.

And look at anyone near or far,
And you will see someone who's not sure either,
Because, anyone who knows all there is to know,
Is missing out on life's greatest feature.

And it's alright,
If you get depressed now and then,
I would be worried if you didn't,
That you weren't into contemplation.

Away From Home

Once you go down one road,
That puts your heart at ease,
And you traverse the bush to the one beside you,
It makes you weak at the knees.

The loneliness sheds light on all of the things,
That you could not see when you were where you were,
And suddenly you miss everything,
That you lived for.

And if there was no way back, could you ever find,
That type of fulfillment in the place you crossed to?
Only if you filter your eyes differently,
And invented another you.

And it's alright,
Thank god you can always go back,
Unless you don't pay attention to where you came from.
I guess, then, you never really knew where you were at.

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

I don't know why I get so angry,
At the people who think that,
To save this world we should just stop procreating.
I mean, it just makes more room for my brats.

Maybe it's because it's running away from the problem,
Because, really, it only exists,
Yes, because we are on the planet,
But, we're also the only ones who give a shit.

The earth will do fine whether we're here or not,
Whether we stop birthing or we blow it up,
And there are plenty other planets around,
Coming, gone and living it up.

And no, it's not alright,
That you can adopt if you want a kid,
That just creates a demand for unwanted babies,
And doesn't affect the number of people created.

Sunshyne

Is it really possible,
To give a ride to a hooker by accident?
I can tell you that it certainly is,
As to me that just happened.

Okay, so it was 2:30 in the morning,
And she seemed to know that bum pretty well,
But, then again, she had on jeans and a sweatshirt,
So, I don't know to whom she was trying to sell.

But it became obvious two minutes in,
When she described herself as a working girl,
And bad-mouthed whores who gave it up for five bucks,
And wanted to know if I wanted to go for a whirl.

And it's alright,
That cop did not try to follow us,
And she did give me a flower, after all.
Like she said, "Every moment is momentous".

Brain Plasticity

If the brain can change its map,
So that one spot can take another's place,
So that, through exercise, it can recoup a function,
Could that be the case,

With other parts of the body like the foot?
Well, of course it can, we've all seen them write.
And if a leg is not replaced by a stick,
A person's not anchored to the site.

So is this the case with the world as a whole?
This substitutive quality.
Like, will the earth replace the function of its lost resources,
Well, of course, but with the destruction of humanity.

And it's alright,
That doesn't mean you.
The earth will destroy everybody else,
Because you are one of the lucky few.

Getting it Done

My dreams are haunting me,
Just like I thought they would,
Because there are things that I have to get done,
And no plan has absolute certitude.

So details swim through my mind awake and asleep.
Is this a good thing, or is it dangerous,
To my health? I guess not if I am honest,
And remember that it's not that momentous,

To me, but it is important for others,
And I must remember their perspective,
But not have it interfere with my ability,
To get the job done and not be sensitive.

Oh it's alright,
Things always get done in the end.
But will it take a day or a thousand years?
It's on your attitude that it all depends.

The Pursuit of Happiness

Is happiness the same thing,
For everyone, ultimately,
Whether building tables or thinking hard,
Is it the same feeling?

And is it just a matter of finding,
That thing that is most suited to you,
Not as that at which you would be the best,
But what would be the best for you?

And does society allow you to pursue,
What would be best for you?
Sure, and if it happens to make you money,
Well, then it will respect you, too.

And it's alright,
Sometimes you can't always follow your dreams,
But if you make yourself a different person,
You can change them to fit things.

Friday, April 27, 2007

Love You Forever

Once again I'm tempted,
To live only in your life,
And to talk of nothing but our love,
And how your company is a vice,

How sometimes I can't wait,
To be home just so we can talk.
I know I don't mention this enough,
But it's this reality that I love

That lets my mind wander,
Into realms that will never be,
Because I don't want them to.
Unless they include both you and me.

And it's alright,
If you push me out of the bed,
As long as the floor I hit's still in our room,
I am content.

Victory

What does it mean to win?
Does someone have to lose?
I swear the taste of victory's never touched,
These lips near as often as booze.

And what of it? Better to dull the pain,
Than to live through in anticipation,
Of living to fight another day,
In some vague, future competition.

'But everyday's a challenge', you might say,
'And worth every energy we can spare.'
While yet another person crushed by life,
Would say, 'I've taken all that I can bear.'

Oh, it's alright,
It's not if you lose or win,
It's if you're happy doing either one.
Some people can't take the adulation.

Good Leadership

Some things make me giggle,
Just thinking of them,
And not really in a good way,
But as a lesson.

And what is your emotional IQ?
Do you have what it takes to be,
A good team leader so that everyone likes you?
'Cause that is what you need.

Speak with authority, but be confident,
You don't want people to think you don't know,
Exactly what it is that needs to be done.
Even if you don't.

And it's alright,
You never have to lie.
Being firm doesn't mean knowing everything,
It's taking responsibility all the time.

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

To Win or Lose

You win some and you lose some,
And who can ever tell,
If the win was really a good thing?
If you really knew, well,

Life would be much more intense,
For hope would be tied to reality,
And comfort would be a meaningless thing,
Or would it be?

I suddenly wish I knew where life was heading,
And if there really is such thing as a loss,
Or if by surrendering to the tides of life,
You never have to wonder what was.

And it's alright,
I guess life wouldn't be really different.
Wins would still be filled with joy,
And losses with disappointment.

Complete Peace

Just when you think all is perfect,
You realize that you live in reality,
And, I know, this sounds immensely cynical,
But I know that it's not just me.

It's not that the world moves fast, but that it just keeps moving,
Even while you're sitting, trying to enjoy,
All the things the world has provided.
You can't try and tell me that doesn't annoy.

And that is life, no matter what the structure,
Just like you must eat and breathe everyday,
And if there's a trick to finding the perfect rhythm,
No one yet has found the way.

And it's alright,
If you say you have figured it out.
I'm not calling you a liar,
But, that you're still living, leaves me in doubt.

Accomplishments

Do you feel like you've done,
Everything you've wanted to do,
Or will do what you want to do yet?
Then, I count you amoung the few.

And why is that? Is it that freedom is lacking?
Or is it that many don't have the pep?
Maybe because if we've done all we want,
There's nothing to do yet.

But that's all hogwash, of course,
You can always have dreams,
And whether they're sweeter if you've already accomplished some,
May be a moot question it seems.

And is it alright,
If in your final moments,
You can't think of one thing that you've done,
That you meant?

Saturday, April 21, 2007

Success

What is it that you have,
That allows for success?
Assuming that it comes to you at all,
Or, even, that that's how it's assessed.

You are a chump if you feel you have it made,
But you have less than the guy next door,
And by 'less' I mean in material things,
Not in some lousy concept of what's at the core.

Give me something that I can really hold on to,
With my hands, my heart does not have the power,
To reach out and grab something, so it's little help,
When looking for footholds on the way up that tower.

And it's alright,
You'll never make it to the top, anyway,
It disappears the moment you think it exists.
Even if you sunk in what you saved for a rainy day.

Friday, April 20, 2007

Welcome Home

All is all the same now,
Isn't it always like that?
And, let's be honest, if it wasn't,
Wouldn't that be a drag?

You work so hard to build, you don't know what,
Until you're standing in your own paradise,
If you're lucky, and if you're not...
Well, that's why some people are not nice.

But in some ways it's chicken and egg,
Do you go where you're happy, or are you happy where you are?
Though, if you're either, then you are also both,
And that doesn't seem very hard.

And it's alright,
Maybe you want to be angry all the time.
That makes complete sense to me,
It's just an existence of a different kind.

Thursday, April 19, 2007

Longevity

Do something each day,
That you can look back upon,
And in doing so, you can slow down life.
Isn't that everyone's mission?

And try to make it painful, that will help,
Since joy is so fleeting,
Not because of its actual duration.
It's a momentous feeling.

But still enjoy life, or you'll want it to end,
This may sound like S & M,
And I'm not saying that it couldn't be,
But it could also mean enjoying your friends.

And it's alright,
If your friends aren't painful enough,
You may die fast, but then again you'll die happy,
And that's not a bad trade-off.

Perspective

There is too much happening,
And I'm not talking about mass shootings.
If I had known I'd have so much to do today,
I'd've done more on Tuesday.

But just remember that death's a loner neighbour,
Who might decide to visit on a whim,
And if you always keep your house clean,
You won't feel half as bad letting him in.

But maybe the best thing is just to keep away from home,
Or, maybe, just never answer the door.
Yes, the analogy can't be taken that far,
But it sure serves to help understand its core.

And it's alright,
No matter what balls you have juggling right now,
It might seem trite, but it all amounts to nothing.
The question's 'why do I want it', not 'how'.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Sailing Analogy

One whole complete orbit,
What does it mean to me?
It's a moment to reflect on what I've done,
And a reason to let it be.

Now's the time to change your tack,
Get a new perspective on your route,
We're all heading in the same direction,
What makes us unique is the time we took.

And I'm not saying it's better,
The slower that you go,
But you certainly get to see how other people do it.
That's valuable, don't you know?

And it's alright,
That wasn't really a question,
I'm just floating out a little off the map,
To avoid the congestion.

One Life

I don't know what to tell you,
How much new really happens in a day?
The magic of life can't be a constant topic,
The magic couldn't survive that way.

But then why lose yourself in the mundane,
When near-death reminds you what it's really worth?
Then again, why hold on to this body as long as you can,
If not to keep it on this earth?

So, get what you want to make yourself happy,
And, I bet, life won't seem all that bad.
Oh wait, why am I assuming you think it's bad at all?
It's actually the best you've ever had.

And it's alright,
If it gets you down sometimes,
I like it when mine gets me down,
In fact, it makes me feel better than fine.

Just Do It

When is it time to do something,
That you've been meaning to do,
Except that there are other things on your list,
And feelings stopping you?

Sometimes you just have to do it because,
A list can only be made up of items,
That can only disappear one at at time.
There's no other solution,

Except, perhaps, not doing nothing at all,
I think that's easier and involves less risk.
Whether comatose or on the street,
You can't really be taken to task.

And it's alright,
Maybe being on the street's on your list,
Or maybe just sitting and staring into space,
Is more attractive to your taste.

What Was That?

It's another world,
The one I just came from,
Where other worlds are denied access,
Because of their composition.

I hardly escaped with my head,
Or, at least, I think that was the case,
And I would have stayed to find out the truth,
But, it's always been something I can't face.

But, at least, I have today,
Without which I couldn't even ponder,
Where I'd be today,
If I had stayed over yonder.

It's alright,
There'll be other worlds down the road,
Maybe not on the one I'm driving now,
But I'm happy when all's told.

Loneliness

If you're feeling lonely,
Maybe the problem is,
That you're not hanging around other people,
Or, at least, ones that exist,

In the same world, because don't forget,
That space is not the only clue,
To where someone's head actually resides,
And how close it is to you.

That is why a book can take you far away,
And a friend can seem distant.
So, if you want to kill your loneliness,
Expand your mind to encompass all you can.

And it's all right,
Even if it's all an illusion,
It's not how you look but how you feel,
That is the key to the solution.

Playing the Field

Now that you are alone,
You've regressed to your past state,
Which is to say that you are drunk at home,
Looking for a date.

But as luck won't have it, some action must take place,
To put you out into the view of others,
Preferably not in your present state,
But in one where you do not suffer.

And by suffer, I mean ashamed of yourself,
Because one can be in pain and still attract,
As long as the pain's showing despite your attempts,
It will appear as an unveiled fact.

Though, it's alright,
Maybe someone will bust through your door,
And instead of being someone wishing to rob you,
It might be the date that you've been looking for.

I'm The Father

I can't take the time now,
To do all I want to do, you know,
Just like we now know who's Dannielynn's father,
I told you so.

Life demands that you be a certain way,
That you stay that way at certain times,
And the life you build around you,
Makes other demands of other kinds.

And there are always choices, but what have we learned,
But that the straight and narrow is the one,
That provides the support from society,
Regardless that it's a bad one?

But it's alright,
Or, at least, it has to be,
I don't have the time to think it's anything else,
Or else, I'll be late for where I have to be.

Salvia Divinorum

I've never taken this herb,
Though, I swear I would,
If I wasn't afraid of never coming back,
To this imperfect world.

I'd get from it what I get from other things,
That make me forget where I am,
When after returning I realize I'm the same person I was,
When I was a completely different man.

But now, I guess, I have too much to lose,
I'm not afraid of leaving, but of not coming back,
Which sounds dramatic, but when you've got a kid,
You don't want to treat him like that.

And it's alright,
I'm not that old quite yet,
There are still the tried and true ways of escape,
And I'll never give up those, I bet.

Isn't It Great?

Here we go again,
You can't escape what,
You agreed to do, even if it's not,
That which you really want.

Not to say I'm not happy in general,
I could be doing a lot worse,
And, in fact, I'm doing pretty good,
In the society in which I've been nursed.

I love you and I love it and him,
I love the way they all come together,
I love how I never really had to direct myself,
To be in the position to be such a lover.

And it's alright,
In the end, it's really just a twist of fate,
And it's also a twist of the mind,
That makes a person's life great.

The Movies

What makes things interesting,
In a good movie?
Is it the things that would never happen,
In reality?

Or rather the things you would never expect,
Or, at least, things that you'd never dare dream.
If that's the case sometimes I feel,
That I'm in a movie.

Like when I sit and really look around,
And try to paint a line from birth until now,
Who would have thought that this is where I'd end up?
I think you'd say the same about yourself, somehow.

And it's alright,
We haven't ended up where we will yet,
That's the difference between life and the movies:
Life never ends.

Choices

Try to separate your,
Time so that you can,
Do everything you want to, and I bet,
That you can't.

One thing requires that you be someone else,
And while you do that, you need to be someone else,
To do the other thing that needs to get done.
It's a wonder that you're ever yourself.

Of course, this all is true only as you get older,
And more than one stream serves to make up your life,
Because when you're young you don't bank on just one thing,
Because that would be like rolling the dice.

And it's not alright,
If you just try to start all over again,
Unless you destroy everything in your life first,
And that is no solution.

Happy Time

What if the monkey on your back,
Is a cute little thing?
Why get it off if it is not that heavy,
And makes you feel naughty?

Let go of good and evil, that's what they say,
When they are good enough to live in the world,
With all the people following the rules.
It must be nice to have self-control.

The key is to have a world where everyone,
Let's loose within the boundaries of peace.
But not everyone's happy inside those walls,
And so, everyone can never all be happy.

And it's alright,
If some people suffer for others,
The key is to minimize that number,
While maximizing the ones who not need suffer.

To Be Happy

If all I wished would happen,
Happened for me,
I know there'd still be things to wish for,
But I would be more happy.

Okay, maybe not more happy, but satisfied,
I'm not turning this into a lesson,
On how you have to be happy with what you have.
That's not the structure of Capitalism.

That's one good thing, it offers goals to reach,
While never allowing you to get all you desire,
As long as you're part of a small percentage of the population,
You're living fairly comfortable, and can rise a little higher.

And it's alright,
Life is hard, no matter what,
Unless we all start treating each other nice,
And start being happy with what we got.

Ski Day

My belly is full,
I'm ready to start the day,
I'm not going to work,
Because I'm going to play today.

I wish it could last forever,
Minus a few factors,
I guess nothing's ever perfect,
That's what dreams are for.

So I'm out the door now,
As soon as I get ready,
Another proof that things are not ideal,
Or I'd be as naked as Adam and Eve.

And it's alright,
Even though I've come at nothing profound,
At least I can say that I've done something,
Even if it doesn't make a sound.

I Know You

Now the snow is falling,
Not that reality should define,
What it is that's brewing up inside me,
But it's an interesting thing besides.

If it was like this everyday I would be,
More likely to be someone else,
Just like if I had a tragic childhood experience,
But didn't remember it, myself.

It's not another person walking around,
Influencing me in what I do.
It's not me either, I encompass all,
And know more than you think about you.

And it's alright,
I still need a lot of practice,
To be able to read you like a book,
So, don't go get all anxious.

Use It

When you are away,
From what you know the most,
When you want to be there, too,
After you've had your toast,

You must let go of it all,
At least in so far as you,
Can't do anything physically,
But there's something you can do:

Look at that world from the place that you are,
Because you're in a very good spot,
To look at yourself as someone else,
And see what it is you've got.

And it's alright,
If you realize you don't got a lot.
Not many people really do,
It's all about what you've been taught.

Gotta Go

I don't have much time now,
I know that that is not an excuse,
Why not do all you have to do when you can?
Well, what is the use?

You can't take it with you and what about what others,
Think about you when you're no longer around?
I'm not sure what effect it has on you,
When you're six feet underground.

Who am I kidding, isn't what we want,
To find out the meaning of life?
I thought it was until I made one of my own,
And now I just want meaning for my son and wife.

And it's alright,
If I'm not making sense to you,
Because I'm not making sense to myself,
And that is what I always intend to do.

The Moon

How is it that the moon,
Always keeps on the other side from the sun?
Though, I know that this is not quite the case.
It makes me think of where I'm from.

It is so far away,
Like my folks and even my thoughts,
But still it pulls the sea up towards it,
I relate to it a lot.

Sometimes small and sometimes bigger than life,
Sometimes seen, sometimes hidden by clouds,
God, sometimes hidden by the smallest of trees,
But, unlike my thoughts, never loud.

And it's alright,
I don't really think of it that much.
I have much more important things on my mind.
Really, the moon is just a hunk of rock.

Experience

Does knowing what to do,
Come naturally to some?
Because I have to tell you,
Experience provides me my only information.

And so you learn from your mistakes of the past,
But that means you have mistakes in your past,
That others see and that you have to dwell on,
Hindsight's twenty-twenty is a major ass.

But you must go on, because at least you can learn,
Unlike those in your life who never have,
And are now left behind by experience,
As if they don't even have a past.

And it's alright,
Eventually experience will make you wise,
And those coming up behind will be quite impressed,
Just like you are now by those other guys.

Health

Is it really healthy,
To just feel good,
If it is at the expense of others' existence,
And the existence of the world?

But then again, are they all there is?
If I am living for just everyone else,
Am I ignoring the world within,
And, so, risking my health?

I guess the key is to acknowledge both sides,
In case it's just you, or just others that exist,
And, of course, if it's a combination of both,
Then you also have covered the mix.

But is it alright,
If such acknowledgement leaves you depressed?
Maybe the key to universal health,
Is to let people believe whatever they wish.
