'Fore my long distance run,
With twenty-six thousand other people,
Getting up 'fore the sun,
All with their own different rituals,
And reasons for running.
Everyone of us could just run alone,
But need the event for something, funny.
I will be free of partners and music,
Alone among thousands,
Using them to maintain my momentum,
Keeping up, if I can.
And if I can't?
If my body just stops?
Despite the entreaties inside my head?
Now that's the real reason we all got up!
