No Regrets

When you make a choice,
Whether for life or for the moment,
The infinite other ones you could have made,
Become non-existent.

And regret makes no sense because those other ones,
Are no longer an option anyway.
Even if you should change your mind within a second,
You've already changed,

And are, besides, in a state that won't allow,
Satisfaction.
If you want something, you're a looker-ahead,
Which is different than she-who-has-what-she-wants.

And it's alright,
To not make a choice at all.
In that way you eliminate nothing,
Except the chance of feeling ten feet tall.

Know Yourself

Do what you have to,
And what you need to get things done,
And ignore all fears that you will not succeed,
Until it's proved by the execution,

At which point drown yourself in sorrow,
And repeat in your head your mistakes,
That you can't really learn from anyway,
Since every moment's completely unique,

And people do not change, so why should you?
All you can learn is what you cannot do.
I don't mean to be mean but you should understand,
That the one for many jobs just isn't you.

And it's alright,
As long as you understand that,
And stick to the things that you know well,
And for which you have a knack.

Just a Question

How do you know that what you're saying,
Is what's understood by others,
When you're talking with a subtext,
And come from different mothers,

And internally subtext yourself,
Because no one is truly honest,
Because if we were, there'd be no need for talking,
Just instantaneous love-ins,

But you don't want to clarify,
Because you may be misrepresented,
As sensitive or troubled,
And so never really be respected,

'Cause it's not alright,
In this world of the message,
To assume that there is more meaning,
Than what is actually just said?

Be Happy Now With What You Don't Have

There are things that you do,
Not for their immediate benefits,
But for some vague reward in the future,
Assuming fate does not fool with it,

Assuming circumstances stay the same,
With no variation from your plans,
And your heart doesn't change its tune,
About what it wants in the end.

And assuming the world doesn't suddenly,
Engage the chaos it forever threatens,
And you don't die tomorrow,
From some unseen circumstances.

And it's alright,
You can find peace in the goals of tomorrow.
Just enjoy the thought of your future rewards,
And you'll be happy for as long as they don't show.

Misreadings

It's easy to get through life,
Relying on your nature,
The only time that people have problems,
Is when they are unsure,

Though there is something to be said for trying,
To impose yourself for the glory of right,
For there are always others happy to impose,
Upon a nature that does not use might.

And the regret that festers,
When you're yourself but trampled on,
Can lead to that aforesaid unsure,
Ready-to-cry person.

So it's alright,
If you want to assert yourself.
Sometimes others forget what they said,
And underestimate your internal force.

Humankind's Goal

I'm so very tired,
Of the grind.
Sometimes the things that people complain about,
Seem outside of time,

And seem outside of what the world expects,
Especially when,
The world, now, is very little Nature,
And all about humans,

And about the return to what we once were.
Why did we start off in the first place?
The notion that we have advanced somehow,
Assumes that there's some ultimate ends we face,

Which would be alright,
If it actually was the case,
Though, if anything, I'd think it'd be world peace,
And we're still in an arms race.

The Pressure of the Overwhelming

I know it's a lot for you,
And your strength is waning,
Despite the shell you show to the world,
I see your internal pain.

And you are not slow to point it out yourself,
Because a child is what you truly are,
Shown through the excitement you feel,
Working really hard.

And we will never have that conversation,
Where we meet in that realm,
Where in each other's eyes we see the truth,
And forget that we are different men.

And it's alright,
I'll have my moments, too,
And I'm sure you'll be as respectful of me and my space,
As I have been to you.

Ask the Universe

Yes, if you want to do something,
You can concentrate on it,
Think about it every morning and night,
And leave it to fate.

There is magic in the universe,
And we can all tap into it.
But be prepared to make the journey alone,
While not taking credit.

And when you get what you want you will be happy,
Because you were not looking ahead.
You were appreciating what you had as you went,
Regardless of what you had.

And it's alright,
You won't mind reentering the world,
Even though everyone else has settled,
With being oriented to goals.

Back Spasms

Suddenly a world,
Can turn upsidedown,
With all you've ever thought was sure,
Being suddenly unfound,

And you realize the order of your priorities,
And acknowledge that they may have to change.
Life wasn't made for these kinds of alterations.
We prefer a good sturdy cage.

For there's enough to worry about,
Without knowing that there could be,
Some new, unknown factor affecting us,
That we could not foresee.

But it's alright,
What is it you'd rather do,
Cover your head in anticipation,
Or have the world acknowledge you?

Someone Hates You

As a human being,
There are some things you can't avoid,
Like the distaste you leave in some peoples' mouths,
Just for having been born.

Because difference must be interpreted,
By individual bents,
And no matter how nice you are to the world,
That's a trait that's just not liked by some gents,

And some gents, of course, won't be liked by you,
Whether you think that's the case or not.
Some youngsters think that they can like everyone,
But they're just ignoring what some people got.

And that's alright,
As long as they understand,
That what they've got won't be ignored by others,
And that they will have enemies amongst humans.

Growing Up

There are a lot of lessons,
That can be learned from now until,
You die that can show you, not nature's truth,
But how to be more gentle,

And more honest about how you feel,
Because if anything is real,
It's the fact that you cannot avoid,
Your heart's squeaky wheel.

When your instinct raises a red flag,
It's not the time to think,
About your decision's implications.
Just let yourself fall over that brink.

'Cause it's alright.
Your decisions can't please everyone,
But because you never know what others are thinking,
You should assure yourself that you're at least one.

Connection

The barrier between us,
Is not unique.
No two people can seriously connect,
In the way you think.

Yes, you understand where I'm coming from,
The way you understand the movement of planets,
But you're not seeing what I truly think,
Which is the point, isn't it?

You may feel one with me, you may feel I feel the same,
You may feel there is no one else you feel that with,
Which is true, but there is also truth in the fact,
That what your feeling is entirely a myth,

That it's alright,
To also begin thinking that,
We can somehow travel the world as one,
And ignore our individual tacks.

Prophetic Dreams

How much lack of confidence,
You have in yourself,
Can very well be dependent on others,
Who care little for your health,

Or anything other than themselves.
So, why do they have such an affect?
Because their actions can influence the state,
Of your physical unrest.

And ingratiation may sound unpleasant.
It may even sound untenable.
I guess the choice is doing that,
Or learning how to put others under your control.

Which would be alright,
And even possible.
Some people do it all of the time,
And practice was their only source of trouble.

We're Jammin'

Just go through life without,
A care at all.
It's short and you don't know what it's made of,
Never mind what it's all for.

And don't get stressed by society's demands,
Even though if you don't take them seriously,
It will discard you on the streets,
Like you would with your new attitude, responsibilities.

And don't give a thought to how you treat your loved ones,
That's only a love rooted in loose soil.
If you had any idea how easily it's all uprooted,
You'd be drunk and high and not toil.

And it's alright,
If your sense of self disappears.
Life's just too hard to take the leap of faith,
That reality's actually how it appears.

What Will You Do With Your Life?

There is no way to know,
How rich your life is.
You can, however, dream of what might have been,
Had you followed a different bliss,

And look at others whose lives you think,
Are what you would have for yourself.
Make sure you pick the most successful, though,
So the regret and stress can affect your health,

And everything around you can lose worth,
And you do not maximize on what you've got.
It's great when the thought of something you never chased,
Destroys the potential you see in what you've caught.

And it's alright,
Some lives are defined by what they could have been,
Not by having made different choices in their youth,
But by not having used what they had been given.

Rotations

What is the value,
Of repetition,
Of such that no two things are actually,
The same,

But of the same ilk,
Like the cycles of society,
The names and dates and people starving may change,
But the ratios are a dynasty.

Or like Nature, just pick a duration,
Call it an Age and then look at the patterns,
In all the other ones, you can't escape,
Our ability to observe the same turns.

And it's alright,
Whether it's in nature or it's in ourselves.
We really should try to change things this time,
If only to see that we can be helped.

Two Worlds

What is most important,
For the consistancy of your life,
To remain so, is that your body does not,
Fail to stay alright.

And your mind must keep in mind all the time,
That it does not float around without,
The aid of this interacting form,
Regardless of your opionion of your bod.

What a funny outcome,
Of all of your hard labour,
Not of the body but of what's inside,
Only to be subject to the sabre.

And it's alright,
Sometimes Life's funny that way,
You live it mostly in your brain,
But your body stops it anyway.

Read the Black

I try to only read the black,
But what fun is that?
Could things really be all that they seem?
Because that seems a disservice to facts.

For, though it causes many problems,
Through every facet of your life,
You enrich, at least, your dialogues,
With a multi-faceting knife,

That tells you all you hear and all you don't,
And creates a labyrinth of reality.
And, besides, there would never have been language at all,
If people always said what they mean.

And it's alright,
The trick is not to take it personally,
And not to care at all what people think,
But only what they say literally.

Good Morning

When you have something,
Sitting on your lap,
That trusts you for everything in its life,
Well, that's a feather in your cap.

And if you do it right one day you will say,
"There's nothing more or less I could have done."
Of course that applies both to if your proud,
And to if you live in humiliation,

The latter of which you will never do,
Because such thoughts can never enter in,
To the love that blinds you to everything,
That would for once and all extinguish it.

And it's alright,
There's not risk of even getting close,
To anything like embarrassment,
Because you'll grow up to be impressive, I know.

To Get You

Things always get better,
Because they can't always get worse,
Because no matter what the relativists say,
One can be absolutely cursed,

And experience things no person should,
And most people could never understand,
Even within the context of their own lives.
Experience is different for all humans,

And circumstances are never the same,
Even for one person from moment to next.
If you think I can see where you're coming from,
Well, you must think that I have no self left.

And it's alright,
If that's what you really believe.
You may as well think money grows on trees,
For the relevance it has on what I achieve.

Laser Jazz

Sometimes you need,
A spiritual cleansing,
Where all you know and do's forgotten,
For the joy of just drinking,

In the silliness of entertainment,
Through the eyes of absurdity.
I'm trapped inside a prison of jazz,
By Dr. Destructo's childish sensibility.

And when I break free I am back in the world,
That sent me there in the first place.
But this time I know things that it does not,
That puts me ahead in the human race.

And it's alright,
If Storm Dancer doesn't return for a year.
It's probably better that I'm not swallowed up,
By the temptation to forget all fear.

Senses

Does the sense that disaster's coming,
Itself, bring it on you?
My guess is that the sense is torture enough,
No matter what you do.

Though, in a sense, it helps you cope for what's coming,
Senses peaked and reflexes ready.
It's also a sign you've put yourself out there,
Amongst the predators waiting for meat.

Because it's rough out there, there's no doubt about that,
Whether the concrete jungle, or town hall,
The bricks and mortar of all human constructions,
Are first laid by those who want it all,

And who think it's alright,
To enter rooms with a sense of impunity,
And to place blame everywhere but on themselves,
Thinking that's the only way to make themselves smell sweet.

Attack

Everyone is the same,
With a paper barrier,
Protecting the child pushing from inside,
From the world's terror.

And as long as the forces on your body,
Wear kid gloves when pushing the weakest parts,
One can get through life as the king of the world,
Even with the most sensitive heart.

But, as happens with the more people you meet,
You eventually meet the one,
Who's hands are rough and tear that paper apart,
And expose your child to depression.

But it's alright,
Your child's at the age to learn,
And to be able to patch the paper up,
And be a bit harder on the next turn.

Downfall Again

It's not a new finding,
This sudden reversal,
Of attitude towards your life,
From confident to suicidal,

And by that I intend a death, yes,
Not of your life, but of the life you know.
You know, the one with everything that defines,
Who you are for the world:

Your work, your attitude and the way,
That you make me feel I can do anything.
It's your prerogative, but nothing is gained,
But started again before acquiring,

The right to say you're alright.
It's not as easy as you may have thought.
Any road is easy without a bump,
Where everyone wants to help you out.

Chained By Responsibility

Life is overwhelming,
There's no doubting that.
I'm not sure society's ever dropped,
So many tasks on people in the past.

What's the worth of a life,
That is not your own,
But instead belongs to responsibilities,
Constructed to keep you at home?

And even without those the choices are few,
Without the money to allow the freedom,
To follow your bliss, but then let's be honest,
You'd probably just get drunk and pop vicodin.

And it's alright,
You might just do something with meaning,
Though in the context of this society,
I doubt it will change many human beings.

Life in Others

There is what you would do,
And what others would, themselves,
And depending on who's around,
Either one could be truer to yourself,

Because to yourself, your actions are unfiltered,
By any other perspective,
While if you were somebody else,
You'd have done something completely different,

And still be the same person, just like a great painting,
Doesn't change with the eyes on it,
Though the truth it holds is expressed differently.
So, how does one remain independent?

Well, it's alright,
Because there is no such thing.
I am nothing outside of my relations,
As you are nothing without me existing.

The Hardest Thing

You just can't let it stick,
If you want no troubles,
But not if you want to invest your concern,
And your soul.

And there's no fine line because to balance,
Implies consciousness or practice,
Unless it's so natural that neither apply.
But then is it good for your self-improvement?

Because a large part of your life can't be easy,
For then, weak does become your character.
One is defined by the choices she makes,
Not by the ease with which she gets through the world.

Unless she tries, alright,
Very hard to look that way,
Which, if done right, is the hardest thing.
Harder than gaining power while alienating.

Competition

If you don't think you can do it,
Then, why even try?
I'd rather live a mediocre life,
Than die.

And when you tell me that is no life at all,
I simply retreat into my head,
And hear such magical things other than your voice,
Telling me to curl up in a ball instead.

Because Nature never meant it to be this way,
And God forbid that we should have such knowledge,
That we should strive for such lateral goals,
That make us believe we've actually edged,

And that it's alright,
Some rival in the human race.
We should all be running together,
At a friendly and cosupportive pace.

Laws

One thing at a time,
That's all I can do,
Which is a deficiency, I know,
But that's my upbringing for you.

And it's my luck I'm really counting on,
That time will somehow continue to work,
As it has, forcing everyone else,
To follow me in my search,

For the act that defies all the laws,
So far established by humankind,
Shining like a beacon for those who are lost,
Until it's incorporated as a new law of the times.

Which will be alright,
Because my money will already be made,
And I will traipse off to a world of my own,
Where no such laws will ever be laid.

Figuring It Out

The point is not to,
Understand where I'm coming from.
I'd argue that is more impossible,
Than proving evolution.

I don't know where the sweet spot is,
But, we've found it before,
Even if for fleeting moments.
Some people would not ask for more.

So let's forget all of the controversy,
And assume the best in each other's heart,
Because that's the key in my opinion,
Even if it's kinda hard.

And it's alright,
If we get it wrong again and again.
We have a lifetime to figure it out.
So sit back and let the fun begin.

Saturday, March 01, 2008

Get Ready to Go

You can get a lot done,
Within a short time.
If you invest all that you are,
There is no boundary line.

A task is only a series of events,
If you believe in cause and effect,
Which, yes, is something unavoidable,
Unless you deny all that Nature is.

And Time itself is of the same ilk,
We are nothing if not within its scope,
But when it starts and where it ends,
Is only imagined so that we can cope.

But it's alright,
Don't get all caught up in it,
What's real and what's a condition of our reality,
Is as important as Who created it.
