How To Stay On Top

There is a very fine line,
Between praise and contempt,
Even though you might see no end on moment,
Your stature could be destroyed in the next,

And that is because as you do your best,
Others are doing their's also,
And it might not be fore only good,
And until you fall, you may never know.

And the best way to avoid this disaster,
Is to give the benefit of the doubt,
Not in the goodness of all around you,
But in your commitment to being devout,

To being alright,
Yes, the onus is on you,
Because you're the only one you can control,
And nothing speaks louder than your actions do.

What Progress Really Is

You don't have to know everything,
Just reflect after the fact,
That what you did was not all that you could,
And then relax,

And let it absorb into your soul,
So instinctively it doesn't happen again,
And you can then reflect on something else,
Because it never ends.

But in relation to others there is motion,
So that it really will seem you have arrived,
Compared to some who never reflect at all,
And who by definition are not really alive.

And it's alright,
To be awed by the eternity of it all.
All progress is really only relative.
But all that means is you're not infallible.

The Good Fight

Truth must surely prevail,
Not to sound like a dreamer,
But what else is there to look forward do,
Except a bummer,

Of an existence, expecting nothing,
And getting nothing in return.
The will to fight rests on some kind of ideal,
And the strength lies in the fact you are sure,

That right is on your side, or else it's not,
And you are surely alone,
As one by one everyone learns of your fate,
As a bastard unwilling to atone.

And it's alright,
If not everyone understands,
You always have the very end to look to,
When everyone finally can.

Justice

You can't expect the right thing,
To happen just because,
You recognize that it would be wrong,
And an injustice.

Justice is something that has to be fought for,
And that never wants to rear its head,
Without champions ready to fight for it,
Because it is mostly unwanted,

And has a complex because when it shows up,
It's mostly taken for granted,
Or, at least a great inconvenience,
In the way of personal advancement.

But it's alright,
You know what Hume said:
It will always be those who do the most good for most,
That will be ultimately lauded.

What's Right

There are certain beliefs,
That should completely mould your world,
And bend others to your perspective,
Or your own reality will be unfurled.

And as long as it is ultimately good,
And aims for honesty and justice,
The anger you get for being unmoveable,
Will be appreciated for what it is,

Which is what everyone wants to be,
No matter the consequences,
Though, it might be a strain on worldly facts,
The heart is where the home is.

And it's alright,
If it takes a little time to realize this,
It's not an easy thing, but you won't regret it,
When you look back at how you have lived.

White Lies

When it rains, it pours,
Sometimes it even hails,
And if your lucky fire falls from the sky,
And you must navigate the hell,

And come out unsinged or at least not flinch,
And present yourself with an air of authority,
That you have the right to exist where you are,
And that the mess was an inevitability,

But is not the cue for dismantling,
The structure built to house the person you are.
Only truth can reveal your strongest shell,
And barring that, you must believe in your mars.

And it's alright,
It's better to lie to yourself,
Than to rue those deceits done innocently,
In the throes of defending your own wealth.

The Fantastical

There are certainly those moments,
That seem too odd to be true,
Of course what point of reference do you have,
But this strange reality, too?

Like remember you have no idea,
Where it is that you come from,
And that is do not to ineptitude,
That's not shared by everyone.

So not to take away from magic,
But it's no stranger than truth,
And should do no more to hinder,
After amazing you.

And it's alright,
If nothing actually pans out,
There's always the fantastical to create,
Out of what has already been found.

Community Manager

The world is now expanding,
It’s no longer just where you are,
It’s how you connect to people and in what way,
Which is the gauge for just how far,

You have gone and how far you are going,
Because this is the new way to communicate,
A new world where everything needs to be rebuilt,
And imagined in a whole new way,

And all you have to do is rethink yourself,
To understand how it is you can fit.
The field has changed but the rules are the same,
And you can be just as successful in it.

But it’s only alright,
If you learn how to navigate,
And how to speak in this new language,
And in the world that it creates.

The Ingenuous Life

Don't let someone else guide you,
In how you live your life,
For not every one can be understood by everyone,
Neither jubilation or strife,

For everyone's true route must be made by instinct,
Because logic does not suffice friend.
So imagine someone else guiding you,
Without knowing your preferred and ultimate end.

And if you're lost remember that two things,
Are never exactly alike,
And each new moment's never happened before,
Regardless what it looks like.

And it's alright,
If you want to be rely on others,
Society could not exist as it does,
If only truth guided everyone's answers.

Postal Avoidance

There are times in people's lifes,
Where there just seems too much,
To do and too much to much to think about,
That they soon lose touch,

With the fact that there is something more,
Waiting on the other side,
Of what they're doing which is far less thick,
But which elusively hides,

Always in the tomorrow and never comes,
Because unfortunately,
It seems the way society wants to work,
Is to keep you busy, constantly.

But it's alright,
There's always light at the end,
Even if it never arrives,
It's what keeps you from self-destruction.

Preparation for Life

When you are a baby,
All things are done for you,
You eat the best food possible,
And you're left to sleep, too.

No stress is permitted to enter your body,
For the most important thing,
For parents is for you to grow up strong and healthy,
To prepare you for working,

And lengthened hours and missed meals,
And responsibilities beyond,
What your body should have, but you're already grown,
So there's no need to be kind.

But it's alright,
One day you may have your childhood again,
When you are too old or frail to work anymore,
As long as you have people willing to be your parents.

Being Mean

How you look very often,
Is determined by someone else,
Not just by how they look at you,
But how she looks herself,

And how others see both of you together,
And the rest of the people around,
Whether in the same room or across the ocean,
Or yet to be found.

So observation is a powerful tool,
Even if it requires a view,
That necessarily omits all others,
It's the best that you can do,

To be alright,
With what you've done,
Because there's only so much you can know,
But what you do can start the revolution.

Others' Minds

There are things to do,
But what is there to do?
Is it fair to think that you can change the world,
When it's hard enough to change you?

Every story you hear,
If it is meant to teach something,
Shows some kind of epiphany,
That was not seen coming,

Unless you stopped to think,
That it is not reality.
Even if it is,
Such conclusions require you see,

That it's alright,
Even if the world's against you,
To follow your heart and mind,
And make them do what you want to.

Engineering

When things recoup their image,
And return to what you know,
Which isn't the most ideal situation,
When it's not where you want to go,

The only thing that saves you is the possibility,
That it may not end up to be what you thought,
By chance or by the engineering of your life,
That it is not all for naught.

But by chance it is only a hope,
And by engineering there is a real chance,
That in the marriage of your own life,
You actually wear the pants.

And it's alright,
Not when you realize all your dreams,
But when you realize that what life's about,
Is this engineering.

Restart

There comes a moment,
In everyone's life-
Well, actually there comes a few thousand,
If you're living life right,

Where you question where you find yourself,
And whether you're in the right place,
And prepared yourself enough for survival,
Among the human race,

And contemplate just giving it all up,
And starting once again,
To end up where the grass is greener,
Now that you know all you can.

But it's alright,
You don't have begin from the start,
You can just jump into the moment,
As if you were just born, as if it was art.
