Work for Change

Speaking out about what,
You feel is unjust,
Should not be measured by what you know,
When you've had enough,

Of the situation at hand,
Because, even if things are not as they seem,
They're being represented in a poor light,
To, at least, one human being,

Nor should you be afraid to say something,
Simply because of where you work,
Though each of these points is unrealistic,
If you live in this world.

So, to be alright,
With the way things are done,
Try to be as silent as possible,
And avoid revolution.

Leaders' Debate

The trick is to respond to questions,
Without a reference to what was asked,
While sticking to the topic at hand,
As you were tasked,

But knowing exactly what you want to say,
Even before you arrive on the scene.
The trick is not to explore a topic,
But to navigate a dream,

That will never touch reality,
For, that is a dream's nature.
There are words and then there are actions,
Again, not related, for sure.

And that's alright,
It's a reflection of society.
Do you say what there is or what you want?
Do you want what you want or what you see?

Doing What You Want

If at first you don't succeed,
You have a choice to make:
Try, try again,
Or reevaluate,

What it is you're trying to do,
Because it just might not be,
Suited to who you are,
Or your capacity,

And if you know you still want to,
Do it, no matter what,
Just make sure you can survive in this world,
Without that notch,

Because, though it would be alright,
If we could be what we want to be,
That's sometimes not an option,
In this economic reality.

Eden

Is history the best judge,
Of how things will one day be,
If we do something that's been done before?
That's an insult to humanity,

Because we all strive to improve ourselves,
And the things we do,
Learning from mistakes we have made,
And coming up with new,

Ways to do things to finally acheive,
What we've always desired:
Peace and comfort and time to play,
At the things that raise us higher,

And define our right,
To be who we want to be,
Independent of any need,
To make money.

What You Tried

You've tried working for others,
Who do things just for love,
For hardly any return,
You could monetarily think of,

And then you went to the man,
Who was generous, within his means,
Which did not include spare time,
Or money, when things were lean,

And then there was the government,
Which demanded you close your mind,
Lest you really start to ponder,
What your concience might find.

And now you're alright,
Doing what you love to do,
And you have cash and time and pride,
Which is all-deserving to you.

Bastiat 1848

The premise that people are selfish,
And take from others to relieve themselves,
And so Government will never work,
Reveals a lack of mental health,

And the notion that what people want,
Is less tax for more service,
Belies the experience of northern states,
That the UN rates as top of the list,

And the thought that not by pooling what we have,
We can get anywhere as a human race,
Makes my heart bleed for the inevitable ones,
Who naturally can't keep up the pace,

Needed to be alright,
Regardless of the system in which we live.
There will always be haves and have-nots,
With some to receive and some to give.

What You Believe

I know that you don't believe,
In the notion that,
All these things that are happening,
That are bad,

That are thwarting all your plans,
And hurting you and your clan,
Might be the work of a higher force,
And may actually end up grand,

Because you don't believe in anything,
That you cannot see and test against,
Which is a legitimate stance to take,
But no saner than rejecting all sense,

Because we're all alright,
Based on what we expect from this life,
But if you see only one path to your goals,
You can only expect strife.

World Affairs

Life just keeps on moving,
No matter who you are,
Or think you are. There's really no difference,
That I've seen, so far.

And the blessings and curses,
Distributed around,
Really have no rhyme or reason,
But that doesn't change how,

You greet them, for that has bearing,
On your life's next turn-
Not really in where it goes,
But in the lessons learned,

That you're really alright,
No matter the circumstance,
Unless you're oppressed beyond belief,
Of which, there is a good chance.

The Same Old Pattern

When you're done with it all,
And need to move on,
And deny there's any relation,
Between reality and perception,

Now you're ready for change,
As if that will ever come,
When your goal is to be somewhere else,
You don't have a destination,

And will ultimately fall back,
Into the routine that you left:
The pain, the dissatisfaction,
And being generally bereft.

And that's alright,
Join the club.
This is humanity's,
Primary hub.

Lighting the Spark

How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time,
Though, the question still remains,
First the head, or the behind?

And there in a nutshell,
Is the main obstacle,
To some of the greatest works,
Never heard.

Of course, there is no room for all,
The infinite jewels there could be,
Like the alchemist's dream,
It would strip gold of all meaning.

So, it's alright,
To be discouraged at the first bump.
If everyone followed their dreams,
Reality would be our new cup.

True Empathy

A life is very special,
It's hard to describe,
So others truly get the feeling that,
It's their own life,

And recognize that we're all the same,
Just different in every way.
If I had that power,
You know what I'd say:

"Come one, come all,
It's just a matter of time,
Before my powers are made known to you,
And all your money is mine!"

And it's alright,
If that day never comes.
It's enough to know the road to gold,
To get gold from everyone.

Moving On

It's really quite amazing,
When you stop to think about it,
How everything coordinates,
Not to be confounded,

Like the wind through the trees,
Both being abated and helping out,
Spreading seeds and moving water,
Each molecule, on its own route,

And destination,
For they're all doing their own thing,
Because to make any move at all,
You need something,

Telling you, you'll be alright,
If you just do that,
And we are all given our own,
Motivational talk.

Looking for Opportunities

If you just let things happen,
You won't be doing things differently,
Because they're going to happen, anyway.
You can't fight reality.

But, if you notice everything,
Happening to you or someone else,
You may have a better chance at understanding,
How to take care of yourself,

Which involves noting opportunities,
As they come into view,
And embracing them immediately,
'Cause you have nothing to lose.

'Cause to be alright,
You need to be alright with yourself,
And that means knowing you did everything,
To maintain your mental health.

Sincerity

There are many, many ways,
To say that you don't want,
To do something, because there's many ways,
To misrepresent what,

You really feel, in order not to face,
The truth in front of someone,
With many results, all the intended to be,
No confrontation.

But you forget, the most interesting,
Route is the most sincere.
Productive conversation can only begin,
When begun without fear,

Of the other not being alright,
With being told the truth,
Which is an absurd proposition,
So much so that it hurts.

Maintaining Awe

How do you want to improve?
Do you want to use some facts,
Collected by others and yourself,
So you can react,

To the comparisons that come out,
Because that is all there is?
How else can you know where you're at,
Without some orientation?

And once you've succeeded in seeing yourself,
Amidst the garden of flowers in which you live,
Will you know where you want to go,
Or will you be happy with where you exist?

All questions, alright,
Because that is all there is.
It's when you start to answer them,
That you cease to be curious.

Change for the Better

When do you know you've changed?
What are the facts that point it out?
Who can know you so well to know, too?
Why do you even doubt,

That change is something that you need?
It's what everybody wants.
No one is truly happy,
Or it'd infect the whole rotten lot,

And would sweep the world, like some kind of cult,
And followers would rise up fast,
Though, not themselves able to truly match,
The same life-changing act.

So, you're alright,
Where you are, or where you go,
And you don't have to think about whether you've changed,
When you do, you will just know.

Happily Hit Upon Phrase

Where will you find the sweet spot,
Where all the things you say,
Aligns perfectly with you and them,
In each and every way,

Without any of you having to change,
Your thoughts in any way,
Only your actions, which will seem as natural,
As when you kicked the homeless away,

As when he wasted his life in the service of those,
Who will take advantage of him one day?
When will you agree because your words are arranged,
In just the right way?

It will all be right,
When you hit upon that happy day,
When we all put our weapons down,
And finally get to play.

Human Nature

It may just take a tweak,
To get things back on track,
Especially if you consider,
What others lack,

Which is time in their lives,
Whether real or imagined,
Whether under tyrant,
Or market engines,

There are a lot of demands,
From everyone around,
Because everyone around,
Wants their pound.

That's right,
Human Nature is such,
That we're all selfish,
When push comes to shove.

Fulfilling Yourself

What could you be thinking,
Screaming out so loud,
In a place where no one can hear you,
And then complaining, you're not found out?

With winter coming, you would think that the thought,
Of snow and sleet and bone-chilling cold,
Would have you thinking about important things,
Like succeeding before you get too old,

Like finding your voice before your voice goes,
And no one learns about the thoughts in your mind,
That without some kind of advertisement,
Is just simply impossible to find.

No, it's alright,
Forget I told you anything.
How you are's exactly how nature,
Told you to be.

Why Do It?

Why do you do it,
Amidst all those people,
doing the same thing,
With so much to see to,

That they don't have time to care,
About anyone else,
Just like you have no time, too,
But yourself.

Is it because you hope,
That they will all finally see,
That what you've done's unique,
Which, in this world, is key,

And what makes you alright,
In everyone's eyes,
'Cause it shows you may know something,
Beyond out skies.

Just Do it

Nothing really happens,
You can think of things that way,
And so, nothing you do has consequences,
That touch reality,

And nothing you do should inspire guilt,
Because nothing is quite real,
Except within this dream you're having,
And the emotions that you feel.

And if you find that you're starting to get,
Pangs of regret for what you've done,
And people around you are avoiding you,
It's time for a transition,

To being alright,
By abandoning all you know.
Don't worry, the struggles you'll have rebuilding,
Aren't really real, you know.

You're On

When you're being watched,
And you know it,
You tend to be self-conscious,
And act different.

But then you're not only lying,
You're wasting your time,
Being someone who you are not.
But, I'm sure you don't mind.

For how else can you be known to others?
Are you seeing the consequence,
Of living for and among others,
Instead of among friends?

Oh, it's alright,
The problem's all really yours.
Just know yourself and what you want to do.
That's what life is for.

What Are You Going To Do?

If you want changes,
Don't look at me,
That requires some kind of effort,
Internally.

And it's hard, I know,
When reality is structured this way,
Thrusting you into an unknown world,
That does not shed a ray,

Of light on why we're here at all,
So we must create our own meaning.
But now you can jump into life,
Now that you know what everyone's feeling,

Which is not alright,
They're anxious, too,
Not sure if they're where they should be,
But not knowing what to do.
