To Get 'Er Done

If you do a little,
Today and tomorrow,
Then you do a little more the next day,
Then continue to go,

Don't stop until you are inside your grave,
Or your mausoleum,
Whatever it is you have accomplished,
Will be more than most the population.

It need not interfere with other things,
Maybe moments of angst,
Those hours of consuming other's products,
For which you get no thanks,
It helps no one,
Except, perhaps, your mind,
Digesting what has already been made,
To see what is left in your heart to find.

Woke

Have you woken up, yet,
Into your life's next dream,
Infused with lessons you learned in the last,
Not knowing what they mean,

As unsure of the realness of what's seen,
Or of what is to come,
The same person, yes, but maybe this time,
With just a little less self-delusion,

With a little more faith in who you are,
(Who says you can't live twice?)
Believing you're never too old to try,
What you once thought was nice?
Asleep again,
With fluttering eyelids?
E'en if this is all just an illusion,
It's the only life that you have to live.

You Are Special

It is not that times change,
Or that you, yourself, does,
No one's had life-changing epiphanies,
Or grand revolutions,

It's all a ripple in a vast ocean,
A crinkle in a page,
A great boulder pushed up a mountain top,
Only to roll down, then pushed up again,

Or perhaps your pattern's not so acute,
To repeat more than once,
A bio infused with a randomness,
That every human hunts,
Because we thirst,
For something more than us,
As if each one of us is so unique,
We break the mold of this vast universe.
