Rebirth

There is no real telling,
Of what you have on the go,
Which things are going to thrust you into a world,
In which you won't know,

How to act, it will be like being born,
All over again,
But with the benefit of knowing your past life.
That should be the goal of all humans,

Because, what else is there to hope for?
There's nothing else we are sure of in life,
Other than birth, taxes and death,
And our self-sight.

But it's alright,
If you only want to life once,
It's just a life without the benefit of learning,
And that is still an existence.

The Shelter

All those moments you're waiting for,
Will never come,
Unless you are one in a million,
And then only once,

And while you're waiting there are many more,
That you could never have foretold,
And that you will probably miss as you search,
For what will destroy you more.

And not to mention the horizon,
Of possibility,
That is always open to you,
If you open your eyes to see.

And it's alright,
You can live your whole life never in the know,
And not know what you're missing.
That's how most lives go.

Making It.

When it rains, it pours,
Have you heard that before?
Which means that perception's just waiting for the chance,
To soar,

And show you its power in the face of,
What seems like a given thing,
Like circumstances and barriers,
And other peoples' feelings.

But what happens when you are ready to go,
And you have everything in place?
Well, others recognize the power you have,
And tries to tag along for the race.

And that's alright,
You need them to succeed.
No one's an island or can live in a vacuum,
Unless they live in a house for the insane.

The Waves

It's amazing how quickly things change,
In this unannounced place,
Where trees lose their leaves at the drop of a hat,
And dogs and cats arbitrarily have names,

Where we can be best of friends one moment,
And less than friends in the next,
And the whole time share love for each other.
And none of that's even related to sex.

Where all of our worries can immediately shed,
At the destruction of a town,
By mother nature, who doesn't really care,
About the stresses that are getting us down.

And then it's alright,
It always is at some time,
Before our world is disrupted again,
And then again, it all seems just find.

Keeping Up

Just keep on truckin',
And if you find that you can't go fast,
And everyone is just passing you buy,
While you only react,

And their exhaust just slows you down,
And the thought that,
In their eyes, you're not worth as much,
That's when it's time to act,

And maybe try a different tack,
And a different way of giving,
Doing what you actually like to do,
Instead of what gives you a living.

And it's alright,
If it takes a couple different lives,
To actually get it back,
You have more than you realize.

Morning

You cannot rush things,
Everything has its time,
But you cannot also just let them happen,
Because there is a very fine line,

Between nature taking its place,
And doing what we do best,
Which is manipulating nature's ways.
That's what separates us from the rest,

Of animals, on this planet,
And each other,
Because while I'm able to defy laws,
You must not interfere.

And it's alright,
You can join me sometime,
Of course, you'll want to break your own rules,
Instead of mine.

Wake Up

If you are one of those people,
Prone to variations of moods,
So that one day you're on top of the world,
And the next, you've go a different attitude,

About what you've done and where you've come from,
And what you've got to show for it all.
Life is such an unexplainable thing,
The switch isn't unusual.

Yet, there are some who it just seems,
Are not phased by the ups and downs.
Of course, if you were privy to their minds,
Your own would probably go to the lost and found.

And it's alright,
Every mood passes,
And if it doesn't, then you're insane anyway,
And will be in science approved classes.

Staying the Path

It is very easy,
To find yourself in a different life,
Doing things you never thought you would,
For any price.

But it's the nature of what we don't know,
That we don't know a lot,
And with such an unknown circumstance,
It's easy to get lost.

So how do you find your way back to the path,
Where things were not old, but certainly familiar?
Just be yourself, and those around you will know,
Whether you belong or not, for sure.

Then just wander, alright?
Because you will eventually find,
Those wandering as aimlessly as you,
But who have a similar life.

What He Really Thinlks

It's not that easy,
To say what you feel,
Nevermind trying to say it in some way,
That's pleasant to the ear,

Because, let's be honest with each other,
Is there really any link,
Between what you say to other people,
And what you really think?

And that's alright because the real purpose of language,
Is not to communicate.
That's a misconception evolved to hide,
Our nonverbal expressions of hate.

And it's alright,
Really, I swear it is,
Don't mind me fucking you where the sun don't shine,
That's not truly representative.

Finally

When you have the chance,
To do whatever you want,
What will you do with those precious moments,
That you couldn't?

Will you suddenly be productive,
And complete the projects of your dreams,
Or reconnect with all of those people,
You had to eventually leave,

Or help others that don't have the time,
Or means to help themselves,
Or, more likely, will you fill you body,
With the spirits from the shelves?

It's alright,
All of these things,
Have the same impact on the world,
In the grand scheme of things.

The Spots

Things always get resolved,
Time sees to that,
The question is will you benefit in the end,
Or miss out by not trying to act,

And just observing? Because that is easy,
And yet, does not add to quality of life,
Or the ability to look back on it,
And say you didn't give up without a fight.

But it's all style, and that is set pretty early,
You can't change the colour of your spots,
Though, you could take a look at yourself,
And decide if you're using all of them or not.

And it's alright,
The only one in the world will know,
If you are truly happy or disappointed,
In how you lived your life, when you go.

Truthfully

You will come to the realization at some point,
That things aren't quite like,
The way the imagined they would be,
When you reached this height,

Of age, but not stature, and that's the reason,
So many stories cover,
The lives of people who haven't quite made it,
And consider their chances over,

But all that means is they don't believe,
Their own interpretation of reality,
And need ro be honest with their self,
And ignore what others are thinking.

And it's alright,
And much easier to say all these things,
Than to do them, and again that's just a guage,
Of the truth with which you are living.

No Goals

Every day is a lost day,
You will never see again,
Except in your memories,
While you waste more time, my friend,

And thinking about how things might be,
Is slightly more useful for your life.
Done day you might have everything that you want.
Wouldn't that be nice?

But in the moment, you are guaranteed,
That you aren't missing anything,
If you are actually experiencing it.
And living.

And it's alright,
If people say you need goals,
Just keep on doing what you really like,
And you'll realize joys most people will never know.

Possessions

You don't have to be afraid,
Of losing all you have.
Possession is such an etherial thing,
It could only be invented by humans.

And when you unburden yourself,
Of the anxiety of keeping,
You will find you are richer than,
Your wildest dreams,

Because then you have all the room,
You ever wanted to fill with what you want,
In the horizon of possibility,
On the road to having a lot.

And it's alright,
If by everyone else's guage,
You are a homeless free-loader.
They're just burdened by the house that is still unpaid.

Living

How many times do you have to,
Think it to realize,
That you have to know and work for want you want,
Because people aren't nice,

And aren't looking to help you out,
Unless it will help them,
No exceptions to this rule,
Even when you think different,

Because there is no ultimate reference,
For what we're doing here except ourselves,
Because ultimately that's all you know,
And you want to take care of that before all else.

And that's alright,
No one expects any different,
And if you can do it and still seem unselfish,
Then you've mastered the art of living.

Do Or Die

In some ways it's so easy,
To just do it,
Onve you've leapt and you have no choice,
But to sink or swim,

And yet that leap often takes a push,
And unless you have your eyes open,
You break your neck with nothing much gained,
And no interest in starting again,

But the potential benefits,
Of that leap versus staying put,
Doing the things that come easiest,
Is surely worth the risk that you took.

And it's alright,
If you just want to do what you've done,
And ask no more of life but what it's handed you.
If. that's your decision.

Some Day

Some people are just hard-luck cases,
For whatever reason,
Whether they bring ill-fortune upon themselves,
By coming to the conclusion,

That they are undeserving of success,
For a one of a myriad of excuses,
Or they really are cursed by some outside force,
That renders them useless,

Which brings us to the question everyone asks,
At some point in their life:
Should I just do what my heart desires,
Or succumb to my present strife?

And it's alright,
No matter what you decide,
Just beware of those whose hearts tell them to,
Take advantage of those are without a guide.

Still Time

You will always get depressed,
If you have any inkling,
That what there is isn't what there has to be,
Necessarily,

And that your actions in the past,
Somehow led to where you are today,
Even though things cannot be any different,
Because they're just that way,

And as more time passes you start to think,
That the possible routes are far less,
In addition to the always-present one,
Of instant death.

And it's alright,
They're still infinite,
Maybe just the most likely ones,
Are becoming more and more morbid.

How to Overcome

A day can change everything,
For better or for worse,
Thank god there's another one after,
Or, simply, a hearse,

Or, simply, it's time to abandon,
The way you've been living so far.
Leave the paperwork, shovel or drugs,
Bitterness, love or car,

Schedule a brighter kind of existence,
Disregarding what society wants:
Obedience and self-bondage,
To keep you from resistance.

Yes, yes, alright,
It's not as easy as that.
This requires courage and imagination,
Two things humans generally lack.

Downer

You're like the internet,
Amazing, but,
In five years what you are now,
Won't seem like much,

You have so far to go and so much potential,
It makes tears fall from my eyes,
Thinking about all you could be,
And all you could realize,

And also all you could fail to do,
And how you could ruin everything,
Because no matter how good your intentions,
You're lack of experience supercedes,

You being alright,
It only takes one moment,
Of poor judgement to end it all,
And be another statistic.

Rain

Some things just can't wait,
Like my need for you,
Like the bus filled with people,
On its route,

Like the force of gravity,
On a sagging drop of dew on a leaf,
Like the work you've been paid to do,
Even if you beg on your knees,

Because there are plenty in liine to take your place,
Like rain falling from the sky,
And your task have to happen right now,
Like the time that keeps passing on by.

And it's alright,
There are things that can wait,
Usually things that would help your life,
Instead of the falling rain.

Moving

Just keep on truckin',
Because you'll find at the end,
That you've finally arrived at the place,
From which you'll start again.

But think of all the places that you've seen,
And the people that you've met,
That you can call on during your next journey,
And of the ones you haven't met, yet.

When did you stop believing that our life,
Is constantly on the move?
I wouldn't have thought that a little thing like hate,
Would have stopped you, too.

And it's alright,
You know what you're doing,
And if you need me on the way,
It ain't no thing.
