Getting Out Of Here

There are places you find yourself,
Where you never are,
And which help you understand,
What life is for,

And how time passes by,
And has all your life.
So, why would you want to be doing,
What isn't quite,

What you imagine now,
That you're on the outside?
'Why oh why?' You ask yourself,
And then you hide.

It's alright,
Keep on keeping on,
And just change,
Come the revolution.

No Revolution Is A Line Of Flight

Just because thousands of people,
Think they feel the same way,
And as they march together,
Are unified in what they say,

Does that mean, when it is all over,
And they are told that they won,
They will continue along the same path,
And behave as one,

Or will they start to enjoy the freedom,
That they were fighting for,
Exercising their rights as individuals,
Living in their own world?

Well, we've seen this before, right?
Every revolution,
Must be organized, in order to destroy,
The current organization.

You Fool Yourself One Way Or Another

No matter what you're thinking,
There's something more inside my head,
And in the head of everyone else,
You think you've got pegged,

And the longer you continue,
To have this attitude,
That the world behaves as you think,
The less it will act as you think it should,

And the less you'll find that it resembles,
What you have in your mind,
So that you either have to change your thoughts,
Or escape to your own inside,

Which is alright,
Many do it already,
And live a life quite fulfilled,
And entertaining.

Every Choice is a Decision

There is nothing to say,
Only silence will explain,
And it's not a very good excuse,
Anyway.

And the potential you recognize,
Is only the consolation prize,
For what is lost with every decision,
We make in our lives.

Oh well, you only live once,
And they can't all be gems,
And you can't really be blamed,
For missing the consequence,

Of your actions. Alright,
Maybe you should have known,
And you did, and you did anyway.
Now you're all alone.

If You Were To Start Anew

If this was your last day,
As you've known it so far,
And tomorrow, all you've known will disappear,
And you have to begin from the start,

Would you be sad or relieved,
Or do you need more information?
Like why and how and will you remember,
The life in termination.

At these moments you are faced with yourself,
And the knowledge that you will not change,
Even if in action you seem different,
Your understanding has just been rearranged.

To make alright,
What in the past was not,
But given untested circumstances,
You'll probably, once again, be caught.

How To Change Everything

If you want to change the world,
Like anything else,
You have to change the things around it,
Starting with yourself,

Though to do that, you have to change the world,
For that's what's around you,
Which, of course, leads to the ultimate question:
'What's a poor boy to do?'

Well, there's always the things inside you,
Which arguably, you are around,
Which, to change, you have to change yourself.
Look at where we have been found.

Back to the beginning, right?
How do you change anything?
It must be a spontaneous act of change,
By absolutely everything.

If You Have Nothing To Hide, Then You May Have Nothing

You know when you've done something,
You want no one else to know,
And your very way of ignoring it,
Leads to your ultimate woe,

Which is preceded by another kind,
Of anxiety and depression,
For the thought of the thing that you've done,
And the implications,

That at the time didn't register,
Because we all think of no one but ourselves,
Except in so far as they relate,
To our own physical and mental health?

Well, it's alright,
You are not alone.
This is called a skeleton in your closet,
And you just have to live with the bones.

Getting Away From Yourself Is To Define Yourself

The longer you are outside,
The farther you are away,
From the things you know intimately.
And if you were to drive the car away,

To those places you only know,
From pictures you have seen,
That have stolen your heart and mind,
And you imagine are relaxing,

You'll find you cannot even find yourself,
Because you're running away,
With your soul, out of your body.
Reality's made this way.

You're alright,
Even if you've lost all you have,
Because you're not the sum of your possessions,
You're what you think is contraband.

Why We Are Human

We never want to,
Love one another,
To such a point that,
We have no other,

Feelings to have,
Like hate or distrust,
Because, to be human,
We all know we must,

Have enemies,
Either in our mind or real,
Or we wouldn't be able to tackle,
Any ordeal,

Which we can't avoid, right?
That's the nature of the beast,
That's what nourishes our soul:
That emotional feast.

What's Wrong With Most People

What's the use in knowing,
The facts about everything,
If all you're going to do,
Is spew them at me?

Give me some kind of context,
To give a window into your soul,
To understand how you organize the world,
Because, so far, I just don't know,

Unless you really have no opinion,
Or no moral compass,
Other than one that points at money,
And its ever-changingness.

I mean, I think you're alright,
And I'll certainly see you again,
But I will never trust you have my back,
On any excursion.

You Can Get What You Want, Maybe

You can live a whole life,
Just looking in from the outside,
Wondering how you got there and just how to,
Turn the tide,

And you will never do anything,
Until you jump right in,
No matter the height or the depth of the sea,
Because it's all in your imagination,

And your power to make things what you want,
At least in your mind.
You may have the strength and luck, too,
To really change the time,

And make it alright,
To look at yourself again,
Not from the outside, but in a mirror,
Because you're in the right occupation.

How To Remain Good

Some things are second nature,
After you've done it a few times,
Like skills and jobs and games and rules,
And love in the summertime.

But when you take for granted that you can,
Do it whenever and as well as you like,
Reality soon creeps in again,
And changes the conditions a slight,

And unless you keep up with your surroundings,
And practice again those things,
That you want to be really good at,
You'll find them soon disappearing.

So, it's alright,
If you want to have glory days,
But if you want to live forever,
Keep learning the new and ever changing ways.

How You Get By With Your Love

What is it you can believe?
It depends on where you start.
Do you believe those closest to you really exist,
Or are they just a part,

Of the scenery, like a tree,
Or the government?
Do you exist as part of,
Or despite of it?

Is your joy derived from loving others?
And, if it is,
Is that because you want to better their lives,
Or feel better because of it?

And you'll be alright,
Whether you care or not,
For others or yourself,
If what you're doing, you like a lot.

And You Do It Again

Well, isn't that a kicker?
No one learns from their mistakes,
Except insofar as they understand,
The pitfalls that they make,

And to avoid them at all costs,
'Cause really, is there anything you do,
That in your heart you weren't,
Always meant to do?

Like find yourself in these circumstances,
That deny you so much green grass,
And yet, provide you just enough to live,
If you'd only look past,

What you think's not alright,
And recognize that,
It would exist no matter where you were,
Because it's just part of the facts.

While She Cries On My Lap

Remembering that you have to,
Take care of yourself,
Just enough to ensure,
Some minimal health,

And shedding all responsibility,
For the care of others,
No parents or children,
Friends or brothers,

And don't forget to provide,
For some personal grooming care,
To be able to interact,
With others out there,

And you'll be alright,
To not be a pleb,
And live outside of capitalism,
Just like the good book said.

The Intensity of Living is Magnified by My Love For You

In those moments of silence,
When I think of you,
And how you've changed my life,
And self, too,

Nothing concrete can be used,
As an example of my love,
Because they are all so limited,
Because they can be touched,

And you can't be,
Which is why examples escape,
Any attempt to capture,
The feelings you awake.

And it's alright,
If you're going to run away.
The sorrow of your departure,
Would leave more feeling than anything.

It Doesn't Matter What Others Want

You have to follow your heart,
This is sad, but true,
Unless your world's general happiness,
Has nothing to do with you.

But, if you're living life for other people,
Fulfilling their every need,
With no compensation coming to you,
Except money,

You're slogging it out washing,
Up someone else's mess,
Made up of shit you'd never touch,
In its greatest pristineness,

Then, it's alright,
To say fuck it all,
Just make sure you have enough in the bank,
To be functional.

A Recap Of Society's Value

As always, you are being,
Asked to do something,
You would never do without the incentive,
Of money.

And then you do another something,
And another again and again,
Until your life is mostly these things.
Is this evolution?

Is this an improvement upon what,
We did before we knew to work together?
You better ask the infinitesimally few,
Living without the same tethers.

So to recap, alright?
You spend your life doing what you'd rather not,
To have the privilege of not being killed,
By a less compassionate tyrant.

The Golden Rule

The advantage to doing,
Things as you always have,
It allows those around you to count on you,
As a rare comrade.

And from there you can start assuming,
That you're more than who you are.
You're now the abilities of all of those,
Who have made you a part,

Of the list of things that need no thought,
Just nurturing to remain pure,
Like God and credit and health.
The only three things you can be sure,

Will be alright,
If you're alright with them,
Which is technically the golden rule,
Of all religions.

The Bad Does Come With the Good

Nothing is ever permanent,
Event the thought that nothing is,
And one moment you can feel on top of the world,
Like it's made for you, as if,

It's only a projection of your mind,
And you mold it as you like,
Until you lose control and feel like a player,
In some god's game night.

And do you want this nuance to disappear?
Do you want to know it all?
Or feel like you do, I think some do,
It's called being fanatical.

So, it's alright,
If you're feeling as small as a pea.
That's the privilege of being human:
Knowing you won't always be.

Why Some People Are Not Nice

It's good to have friends,
They don't grow on trees,
And everyone wants at least one,
And most have no problems seeming,

To be one, even though their intentions,
Are not what you'd think,
Unless you've already been burned once,
Then you're always wondering,

If you have a friend or an opportunist,
Looking only to get.
It's hard to believe such people exist,
And yet,

They're common alright,
Because they've been burned, too,
By no one looking out for them,
IN this harsh, harsh world.

Society's Ultimate Goal Is Not Our Comfort

There is always a moment,
Between doing nothing and something,
Filled with anxiety for what's to come,
And angst for the passing,

Of what your life should be,
Because that is everyone's goal,
And the reason for doing anything,
At all.

But this moment will pass,
And miraculously,
Doing something will actually feel good,
Because then you will see,

That you're alright,
And can get by, if need be,
Because we are all expected to pull our weight,
Regardless of our technology.

The Connections Of Your Past In Relation To Your Present

There is no such thing as time,
When talking about yourself,
And about those who have meant something to you,
Unless you've become someone else,

Which you haven't, if you can remember,
The emotions you shared back then.
Not to say that things are the same now.
You've both gone through evolutions,

Of your surroundings and relationships,
So, you can't really go back now.
You have to start again from the beginning,
And keep in mind how,

You were alright,
Because it could take a bit,
To find common ground again,
If you really want it.

What Never Was Will Never Be

You'll never meet your better,
'Cept when you let her get the best,
Of your natural inclinations,
To fetch a piece of what is left,

After all the best is taken,
Instead you catch her looking west,
To the good side of the city,
And wed her before she jets,

And before you've checked the ticker,
Telling you what time it is,
Which is the time to let things fester,
Before you get her and some kids,

Which is alright,
That's as fine as anything,
And if anyone gives you a lecture,
Fetch your pride and start shooting.

The Fragility of Ego

You'll never be able to,
Understand it all.
Who is for you, and what they really think,
Of you, overall.

All you can do, is know yourself,
And understand every move you make,
So you can answer with authority,
When someone asks you to explain,

How you can justify your actions,
Within their understanding,
Which is only arrived at through honest,
And unforgiving living.

But you're not alright,
Until you've found peace with yourself.
And you don't care about the ways,
Of anyone else.

How Society Was Meant To Offset Reality

Revisit who you were,
In days gone past,
That are usually discarded as the follies of youth,
That were never meant to last,

Because experience tells us that the world,
Is different than you thought,
When you didn't have a care in the world,
But, of course, worry is everyone's lot,

For themselves and those they love,
For the real world doesn't guarantee,
Anything for anyone,
That's just the nature of reality,

And society, right?
But it doesn't have to be.
Let's eliminate one source of this world's worry,
With financial security.
