Sell Yourself

You must reach another level,
If you are to fulfill yourself.
And all that really means is that you must,
Put some things on the shelf.

Because the only things keeping people down,
Are the things that have no relevance,
Like what to buy and what to be,
And where to find self-assurance.

But what more do you need than what you know,
Which is unique to just you?
Just recognize the product you have to offer,
And the niche is yours to delve into.

And it's alright,
If others have demands.
Unless it's for the life and death of loved ones,
You can get away without lending a hand.

Creation

When envisioning what you want,
Make sure to leave some room,
For the faith that there are some things you know,
As mysterious as the moon,

That will only be ruined by being known,
Because it's knowledge of another time,
That has yet to come but which you unknowingly foresee,
That you will eventually find.

And how much more satisfying it will be,
When great results are even a surprise to you,
Though to others it will seem like great foresight,
When instinct was the only fact that you knew.

And it's alright,
If it all goes to pot,
Because it will have only gone to pot for the present,
While in the future, it will definitely not.

Sometime

Try to take a break,
Whenever you can,
Not so much as a break for your body,
But for your perception.

And maybe try to do nothing,
That you usually do in a day,
Though other people's expectations,
Makes it hard to live that way.

Oh, and when you think of something,
Make sure to write it down,
For those moments you think, 'what to do?',
So as not to feel like a clown.

Though clowns are alright,
They bring a lot of joy to the world,
From the scary depths of all our psychies:
The core of all our precious pearls.

Magic

There is magic in the world,
It just cannot be manufactured.
Yes, you need to be open to it,
But it's random, for sure.

It's really unbelievable,
These distractions all around.
There's no such thing as no silence anymore,
Nothing exists without a sound.

But, anyway, sometimes everything comes together,
Sometimes it starts but the momentum fails.
The magic's strongest in its acknowledgement,
Not in whether the magic nails,

What you think is alright,
For something magical.
I guess what I'm trying to say among the noise,
Is that life's magical, s'all.

Are You Alone?

You ever have to sit and,
Wait while money just pours out,
Of your pocket and there's nothing to do,
But to keep in the shout,

And your belly's empty at the same time,
Because time does not allow eating,
When there's a schedule you're beholden to?
Is that how you're feeling?

And though the weather is nice,
You've got pain from the rains inside,
From finding yourself among people who hate,
The way you run your life?

Hey, it's alright,
Everything passes by,
Though, the more they do, the more you lose,
Until you take possession your own lies.

One Moment

Time is so precious,
It doesn't matter the age.
Society does not demand more of it,
Moments are always dearly paid.

That's why most people think nothing of it.
The stress of it passing is too much,
If you consider your time wasted,
And who does not?

Who doesn't consider their potential wasted?
The blame not necessarily landing,
On themselves, but on the demands of the world,
Being as unfair as can be.

But it's alright,
There's always another moment on the way.
Even when you die, I believe your very last one,
Lasts an eternity.

Superiority

There are just some people,
That are like a loaded gun,
Who make you nervous every moment you're with them,
Even if they never let off one.

And just like anyone, they are not superior,
Except to the extent that,
You allow them to be, which is your choice,
Unless they pay your rent.

Because the way this world is constructed,
Money adds something to a soul,
In the eyes of other people,
Because we're all looking for what makes people go.

And it's alright,
Some people hide it well,
And get satisfaction from seeming inferior,
While having all the wealth.

What You Have to Do

Here's what you have to do,
To live life free of turmoil:
Find a rock deep in the wilderness and push it aside,
Lie where it was, and roll it back over.

And here's what you have to do,
To minimize it:
Assume that no matter what others say about what you do,
They're in total agreement.

And here's what you have to do,
To avoid causing anyone pain:
Recognize that their anger's only a venting,
Humble yourself, and take the blame.

And it's alright,
If you only do one of these,
That's all most people manage to do,
And still end up relatively pleased.

A Sense of Legitimacy

Sometimes you just have to keep on,
Keep on trucking on,
And live the way you most naturally do,
Despite opposition.

Despite how those around you are living,
Even if your lives are linked.
One day they will understand you did what you did,
To legitimize the way that you think.

And all will be better off for it,
For how far do you think you can get,
Not being true to your natural inclinations,
But to some idea of an ideal intent?

And it's alright,
If your 'world' falls apart.
It was really only a facade, anyway.
What it was hiding was your life's true art.

Screw Me

How shall I get screwed?
Let me count the ways.
First, by those who think me naive,
And so dearly make me pay.

Then by those who think I know too much,
And want to strike before I strike them,
Which I may very well do as a matter of circumstance,
Though, it's not my intention.

And finally by those who mean no harm,
But have to make a buck,
And who in a society that truly worships good character,
Would have all the luck.

But it's alright,
This doesn't mean I have to screw, too, right?
Nice guys may finish last in some sense,
But I sense there's a place they may be out of sight.

Parge Me

There is a joy to parging,
That is nonexistent everywhere else.
You take the gaps and cracks in your walls,
And fill them smooth and sooth yourself.

And you can think back to the action you took,
Changing your roughness to surface that,
To others is an entirely different,
Side to what they thought was fact.

And one day you may have to parge again,
But not if you've done it right.
That's another lesson learned by the act,
Taking time first will save you many a night.

And it's alright,
If your work is kept from sight,
You will forever know what you did,
To change potential darkness into eternal light.

Why To Quit

I suggest you live life as if,
Everything will turn out right,
And in those moments that they don't seem like they will,
You must choose to fight,

The inclination to just give up,
Though not the feeling itself.
The latter's natural while the first is just,
A rejection of the potential wealth,

From sticking it out, which is self-confidence,
And an example for everyone else.
No one remembers the guy who looked at the world,
And decided trying wasn't good for his health.

Though, it's alright,
There has to be quitters in the world,
If not to accentuate those who succeed,
At least to step on getting over the next hurdle.

Responsibility

If you want something,
From someone else,
That she is not willing to give to you,
You're going to have to look to yourself,

And undo any ties you might have had,
That relied on the assumption,
That when in need you can always receive,
When it's that person you're looking for it from.

And that will make you a little colder,
And your life will seem a little thin,
Like it was when you were younger and freer,
And no one counted on you for anything.

But it's alright,
These moments actually only last,
For as long as you want to wallow,
In this self-involved shallowness.

The Use of Feelings

Listen, if you want to have no,
Sadness in your life,
Then, I guess, you don't truly understand,
The role of lows and heights.

Not just that there is not one,
Without the other,
Or that one can't be appreciated,
Without its opposite colour.

But what about your understanding of life?
How could you ever truly understand,
Where your coming from if you have no different,
Perspectives on your situation?

I mean, it's alright,
If you don't need to self-reflect.
Some people can get through an entire life,
Not growing a speck.

A Flawed Proposal

Who are the best people?
There are a lot claiming to be,
Who raise flags for the cause, but I have to wonder,
Would their rule be improving,

Anyone's life, even their own?
Not to say that the current's any good.
I'm just thinking that human nature might deny,
A truly just rule.

Even anarchy has this flaw,
Because I've seen very few cases,
Where someone treats herself justly.
Think of the question this raises:

Whether it's alright,
To change focus from society to mind,
And the notion that to gain world peace,
It's internal justice we must all find.

Responsibility

It is time to admit,
When you need help.
Because of what you did or didn't do,
I'm sure you feel like you want to melt,

Into the ground until it all blows over,
And you can rise again.
Though you will always remember how you ran away,
In the face of opposition.

Here's a trick, imagine you just landed,
On this planet five minutes ago,
To deal with its problems because you're a superstar.
Maybe now you won't feel so low.

And it's alright,
If you do.
You should have never let it get this far,
And the only one to blame is you.

Community

What does it really take,
To form a community?
People, of course, who want to help,
Create unity.

And some kind of leaders,
Who can take that energy,
And direct it, not to where they want,
But to where it goes naturally.

And at the end of it all, what is the goal?
I think it's to create something new.
Just like every person is unique,
So are the things that groups do.

And it's alright,
If nothing gets off the ground.
The point really is to just try,
And to learn something for the next time round.

Just Because

It will soon be over,
Whatever it is,
Because joy is fleeting and pain is, too.
In my experience.

One is always moving onto,
The next event in life,
And each event elicits a new response,
Or you'd simply be a tool of sight.

So what's the point you may be asking yourself,
Whether you agree with this or not?
Just pay attention to the finely crafted turns,
Meant to show you how it can happen a lot.

And it's alright,
They can't all be gems,
And if people tell you genious is always on,
Don't believe them.

Life

Do you find life hard to handle,
Like it's something outside of you?
Well, I guess if you want to fight it,
I can tell you what to do:

First of all, it's far too large,
To take on head to head,
You have to be humble before its greatness,
Or, at least, pretend.

Then remember that life is no big deal.
You didn't ask for it.
What the 'f' do you owe it anyway?
It's a wonder we ever made it legit.

Now it's alright,
I think you have the idea.
Just remember that people are counting on you,
And you don't want to 'f' it up, do ya?

Breath

Let me tell you about breathing,
It's not as easy as it looks,
Sometimes it's all that I can do,
To continue after the last one I took.

And even then, to get the right amount,
Of breath so that I feel fulfilled,
I may as well also command my blood,
To remove itself for a refill.

So, as the air comes in and out of your body,
Every once in a while remind yourself,
That it can stop at any moment,
And that's not good for your health.

And it's alright,
This is not a threat in any way,
It's just a little reminder,
That I know how it is you get through the day.

Through the Eyes

Of all the people you meet,
Where do the connections lie?
And where is it completely one-sided?
I need to know to understand why,

My feelings can be so incredibly removed,
While from the outside anyone would guess,
That there is no one else in the world for me,
Except for me and my guest.

Not to say that I am all alone,
Or that any of us truly are.
We all have lots of dialogue in our heads.
Of course, the connection there is even more odd.

Because it's alright,
To be as honest with yourself as you like,
But you can still get pissed off because you don't understand,
How such a silent bark can have such a bite.

Through the Rough Patch

The only way to get through,
A confusing, hard time,
Is to act like it was what you wanted to do,
And everything will be fine.

Even with those things that seem mortifying,
Not in a silly way, but to your career.
You owe no one excuses for anything,
Unless you let yourself be taken by fear.

And I will stand by you, if it's not uncomfortable.
You know I like you that much.
Sometimes all you need is one person,
To show you what the world thinks, as such.

And it's alright,
If you want to ignore me.
I'll understand that, too.
There's nothing like animosity.

How to Get By

You can look far ahead,
And comfort yourself,
With all of the things you will enjoy,
After this period of strained health,

And imagine that all of your strife,
Will be worth it in the end,
And keep this attitude after a hard life,
On your deathbed.

And while there you can imagine,
That it was not all that bad,
That maybe what you were looking for in the future,
You already had.

And that's alright,
If you don't mind fooling your inner kid.
It's been done many, many times before.
And no one's lived to regret it.

Stay True to Your Style

Go back to where you came from,
When you were young and so naive,
And you assumed that peoples' intentions,
Were not mean,

Because your attempt at conjecture,
Is, frankly, comical.
You couldn't read between the lines even if,
The subtext was written on the wall.

And besides, if you recall,
You never needed to know it in the past,
Simply because you disarm anyone,
When you're oblivious to their nastiness.

And it's alright,
If people think you're a goof,
You will still always get what you want,
Even if you are considered uncouth.

What to Say

What's to say when someone,
Is not around to hear,
All the things from deep within your heart,
That you'd like to bear,

That you're not sure they would hear,
For the truth that lies within,
Because the possibilities you're talking about,
Are a dangerous admission,

That may be embraced or shunned, it doesn't matter,
Because a hole will still be bored,
Through the thin, thin fabric of representations,
In which is our abode?

And is it alright,
To say nothing at all,
When holes are already bored within your soul,
And they won't stop until the truth's let fall?

Start Anew

If you want to reverse your life,
Here is what to do:
First transport yourself by telekinesis,
To a location completely new,

Then through the magic of psychokinesis,
Form a sealed barrier of molten rock,
Around your head to give you time to think,
Away all the issues that you have built up,

Then transmit a message to the brains of everyone,
That you have ever in your life met,
Erasing any trace of your existence.
This will be important for the next step.

Now, alright,
All you need to do,
Is build another life from scratch.
That won't be difficult for someone like you.

Planning

I have a bad feeling about this,
But, what else can I do?
The stage is set and there is no time for changes,
And I've already said good-bye to you.

But when it's over who will be to blame?
Because someone has to be.
There is no act in this world,
Without responsibility.

But it will pass and things will be forgotten,
As they mostly sometimes are,
By those who can keep things in perspective.
Maybe, I'm going too far.

Oh, it's alright,
It's the weekend soon, anyway,
Tears can flow as well as the beer,
Until Monday.

Too Intimate

When you know someone,
And you delve into their soul,
Privy to each and every secret,
They condescend to dole,

And get a sense from looking into their eyes,
That they have nothing left to hide,
That they wouldn't hide from even themselves,
And you can't distinguish from out and inside,

And you're at a point where it's not even necessary,
To be nice,
As you would to anyone but yourself,
And you find it easier just to fight,

Well, then, it's alright,
To move on to the next stage,
Where you forget all you know about each other,
And go out together from your melded souls' cage.

Shallowness

There is no deepness,
To which you can reach,
That isn't reachable by me,
And that I cannot defeat,

Because reality is as shallow,
As this white and sandy beach,
We'll walk together for miles and miles,
With the water just past our feet,

And hand-in-hand, we don't even have to look,
At each other,
So sure that if our eyes met,
It would ruin the azure,

Because, it's not alright,
To look at just anything,
When all around you is a blue, blue ocean,
Reminding you of your own being.
