Investigative Poetry

Can this age really be,
One in which poetry,
Helps lead the way to social consciousness?
A possibility.

What is it, but a new way to express,
With the words that we all use everyday,
Arranged to open minds,
To show that our language keeps us at bay?

Ezra Pound and Alexandr Pushkin,
Both part of a movement,
With poets from every generation,
Blake, Ginsberg and Olson.

Something must break,
The world's need can be felt,
For a way to express what we know's wrong,
As our people starve and our icebergs melt.
