The State Of Today

There is what people say,
Then there is what they think,
Then there is reaction inferred from,
An unsupported link,

Based on a bias rooted in their thoughts,
They'd ne'er articulate,
But doesn't stop them from organizing,
To eradicate manufactured hate,

Which by then obfuscates the real issue,
Engagement in bad faith,
Until the light of straw man effigies,
Shadows what's underneath.

Which is what's real,
Since the onset of thought,
The need to know what is unknowable,
The cause of every war that's been fought.
