A Lesson In Fatherhood

What will a child remember,
When he grows up big and strong?
Will it be the times you encouraged him,
Or when he strung you along,

To a point of immense frustration,
When rather than support growth,
Of curiousity and exploration,
You swore an oath,

And taught him that there should be restraints,
But didn't explain exactly when?
Let's hope he understands the point of it all,
Is to respect other humans.

'Cause it's alright,
To put boundaries in one's life,
As long as they are to protect others,
And not to stifle what you feel is right.
