Offered to humankind,
Life continues to be a mystery,
Despite the words of Christ,
Despite the wide berth lent by my parents,
In their immigrant way,
Or leaving them to learn philosophy,
Despite my father wanting me to stay,
Despite the turmoils and the happiness,
Well, let me now backtrack,
It really depends on when you catch me,
Or anyone, at that,
For we all know,
Deep inside, there's a truth,
Whether from experience or nature,
You should know 'fore you're too long in the tooth.
